- OOC Guide to Shining Road -
Wanna get away for awhile?
Lion's Road has a flexible booking schedule I think we've all come to appreciate. But sometimes life means that you can't make it for a tour or maybe you've got more extended things going on. Or maybe your character isn't booked for a few weeks, but you don't want a feud/storyline to just fall by the wayside.
Enter Shining Road.
The primary intention of Shining Road is to provide a place where you can send your character to remain "active" in the sense that they have matches regularly. The idea is that if you wanna take an extended break from writing, but plan on coming back, have your character go on a learning excursion and challenge the roster of Shining Road!
The secondary intention is that Shining Road can be used to promote feuds/events in Lion's Road. For instance, if your character isn't booked for a couple weeks and you want to go on a quick jaunt to Shining Road, you can use it as a platform to continue pushing a particular storyline. In this sense, Shining Road is not merely limited to having your character take a break, but is also used to promote feuds.
Results will be featuring on the Shining Road Review segments and be written as blurbs similar to the puroresufan/Strong Style Spirit blurbs back in the day. The studio team will also from time to time conduct interviews, so if you wanna use that as a platform to have your character say a few words, that's also encouraged.
A creative committee meets regularly to discuss Shining Road.
A few points/rules.
Involvement with the Handler
- No writing is involved on the part of the handler, unless so desired.
- That being said, minimal communication is desired, e.g. so you can let us know if/when you want your character to come back to LR, if you want your character out of SR, &c.
- If there is something in particular you'd like to see in your character, let us know and we can hash it out. For instance, let's say your character is going on a learning excursion to learn some lucha-libre. We could have your character team with and compete against the more high-flying elements of the roster.
- If your "extended" break turns into a "permanent" one, we will stop using the character. Let us know if you wanna go out in a particular way. Normally, we'll just say their contract expired. We will absolutely not have your character get injured or beaten up, unless you request it. This is not that kind of company. Most of the exits will probably be on a positive note.
Character Performance
- While your character won't get dominated, it is highly unlikely they will dominate Shining Road.
- I'll say it again: don't get mad at us if your character loses some matches. If you're sensitive to that sort of thing, DO NOT send your character to Shining Road.
- The championships are available to members on an excursion. However, you can very likely expect that if your character wins a title then your character will lose the title prior to your character's departure. Again, we can work out how exactly that happens. Shining Road reserves the right to strip the title from any non-permanent member of the roster at the discretion of the creative committee.
- The same goes for Shining Road's annual tournaments. Here we have a little more discretion for outsiders to win, since tournaments are kind of a one-shot deal. This will still probably be something of a rarity.
Ultimately, Shining Road is...
(1) ... a place for you to stash a character while you take a vacation...
(2) ... meant to support Lion's Road...
(3) ... a literary conceit. Think about it as a story within a story (ala Odysseus recounting his tales to the Phaeacians during the Odyssey (which is actually more of a frame story, but whatever); Tales of the Black Freighter in the Watchmen; practically any time characters on Star Trek use the holo-deck).
(4) ... meant to be a positive, feel-good experience. This is gonna be a fun, dramatic story. So, if you decide to wanna be a part of it - welcome aboard.
