We open up to a studio where the camera zooms in on a broadcasting legend in a vintage burgundy suit that has seen its own share of years.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Greeting everyone, my name is Solomon Bentley and welcome to the Shining Road Review! Tonight I’ll be breaking down the action alongside my co-host, the long-time veteran of the pro-wrestling game here in Japan, Kai Harrison.
The camera pans to a man of Japanese-American descent in a clean-cut grey suit. He nods to the camera with a smile.
KAI HARRISON:
Great to be here, Solomon.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
The inaugural event has come and gone and boy it had its fair share of surprises. Headlining the card we witnessed “Starboy” Shigeru Toyama attempt to defend the GPWS Junior Heavyweight Title against the legendary Thunder Mask. The two fighters utilized their martial arts backgrounds early, trading strikes and throws early on, but ultimately it was Thunder Mask’s veteran experience that would see him win the day, spiking Toyama on his head after the devastating Thunder MAX Driver to embark on his 4th reign with the Jr. Heavyweight title!
KAI HARRISON:
There’s a reason that Thunder Mask is known as one of the top junior heavyweights not only in Japan but around the world. He’s the total package: strikes, submissions, aerial attacks, and pound-for-pound he just might be the strongest guy in the back.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Now early in the night we saw the tag team of Makoto Ueno and Ikki Yanagi team up to defeat Satoshi Kamakura and David Lee Grider after Yanagi used the Go 2 Hell! on Grider.
KAI HARRISON [with a whistle]:
A devastating finisher, Solomon.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
You got that right, but there was an even bigger… in fact, a MUCH bigger surprise that came when the 400lb behemoth known to fans of Lion’s Road Pro-Wrestling as the Kraken stormed down to the ring and attacked Ueno!
KAI HARRISON:
That’s a big man right there. Ueno-san is a former Olympian in amateur wrestling, so he’s no slouch. But Kraken downed him with a powerbomb like it was nothing!
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
The crowd was in shock, folks, but the surprises just kept on coming when two more Lion’s Road Pro-Wrestling superstars, Matt Pulver and Jacob Hammerstein, jumped out of the back and managed to save Ueno from the Kraken’s wrath.
KAI HARRISON:
We’re one show into things and it seems like already our sister company, Lion’s Road Pro-Wrestling, has sent us a welcoming committee! You can only imagine what the next show has in store.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Throughout the week, Shining Road will begin the first rounds of the Shining Warriors Tag League to determine the next GPWS Tag Team champions. A lot of great fighters will compete, including the former Iron Champion in Lion’s Road, James Edwards.
KAI HARRISON:
I can’t wait to get this tournament underway. With monsters like the Kraken storming about, you never know what lies around the corner!
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Well, folks, that’s it for our show this week! Stay tuned on Saturday evenings for installments of the Shining Road Review!
