HOW'D YOUR HEAR ABOUT US - Was looking for a fed to join and found a link through Boardwalk.
PREFERRED METHOD OF CONTACT - PM
REAL NAME - Johannus "John" Bjorn Johanssen
STAGE NAME - "Normal" John Johnson
NICKNAME(S) - NJJ, the Buzz of Buzzard's Bay
BORN (DOB) - 18th of September, 1981
PLACE OF BIRTH - Buzzard's Bay, Massachusetts
HEIGHT - 6'0"
WEIGHT - 234 lbs
DEBUT YEAR - 2009
ALIGNMENT (FACE/HEEL) - Neutral with face tendencies
AFFILIATION - None
RECORD - 2-0-0
CASUAL CLOTHING - Sweatpants and a zip-up sweat jacket. Always wearing his mask, which a plain crimson mask that covers his whole face, eyes and all, like a fencing mask. If he's just wearing a t-shirt it would be a Lion's Road tee. Normally has a towel around his neck and tucked into his jacket if he's wearing it.
FORMAL CLOTHING - He tries to keep it as casual as possible. But if there were a formal event he would wear whatever the theme is supposed to be, along with his mask.
EQUIPMENT (RING ATTIRE) - He wears his crimson mask, black wrestling briefs and black boots. He has his wrists taped.
WALKOUT ATTIRE - Wears a black zip up sweat jacket with a white towel around his neck.
WALKOUT SONG - "How You Like Me Now?" by the Heavy
BRIEF WALKOUT DESCRIPTION - Johnson walks out from the back, holding the ends of the towel hanging around his neck. His manager, Irene, steps out wearing a mechanics shirt with "Irene" scrawled on the chest carrying a tennis racquet. John looks out at the fans and will give them a wave before heading down the steps to the ring. He removes his jacket and hands it to Irene before he enters and heads up the steps. Irene remains on the outside trying to pump up the fans. Johnson climbs the turnbuckle, takes the towel off from around his neck and swings it around his head to rally the fans.
FAVOURITE MATCH TYPE - None.
WEAPON OF CHOICE - Not really a weapons kinda guy but if he had to revert to something to equalise things he would use his towel.
SPORTSMANSHIP - True gentlemen and stickler for the rules. Will never cheat, not even as a last resort. Shake hands. Congratulate opponents for winning. The whole nine yards.
FIGHTING STYLE - John is a counter grappler. Often times, it's almost as if John is inviting his opponent to strike him so that he can get a feel for their style to figure out counters. He has a better ability at using their offence to create his own. The counters aren't really used to escape holds but more to build his own offence.
FINISHING MOVES -
Setting the Standard (wristlock knee drop bulldog)
Breathe Normally (guillotine choke)
SIGNATURE MOVES -
Joey Driver (Fireman's carry Michinoku Driver)
roaring elbow
STANDARD MOVES -
leapfrog body guillotine to opponent draped over top rope
leg feed enzuiguri
giant swing
German suplex rolling into bridging German suplex
top rope seated senton
suicide dive
one handed bulldog
slingshot crossbody
superplex
victory roll
COUNTER MOVES -
enzuiguri (out of nowhere to flying opponents, top rope opponents, being rope whipped)
face jam (from powerbomb positions)
small package
BIOGRAPHY -
John came to wrestling late. As a kid he wrestled through high school and college. Was told he had a lot of talent and ability but the pressure from his Dutch-born parents was to go to college and graduate. He studied IT and graduated middle of his class, married his high school sweetheart and had three boys: Bandit (14), Rascal (12) and John Jr (10).
Except somewhere along the way of developing databases for customer management tools John lost his passion for living. Everyday was a chore. His marriage had become a chore. And when the company he worked for laid off half it's workforce John found himself without a job. Without a job and perhaps an opportunity to take control of his life again before it was too late.
John began to wrestle again. Finding a trainer named Joey Malone, who had a lot of mainstream success, John took to the Indy circuits at the age of 27, quite late to the scene given the gap in competitive sporting achievements. But Malone found that training a mature almost habitless wrestler to be a blessing in disguise. Taught him a lot about counter intuitiveness inside the wrestling ring.
Within six months Johnson hit the independent circuit and found some success and also began to find some passion for life again. Until a drunken moment seven years ago he found the loving arms of another woman and lost his marriage in the process.
While John might have some personal satisfaction in wrestling he no longer has his family (well, he gets access one weekend a month). So he has stuck to touring the independent scene to make a living. It's an earnest living but a living nonetheless.
He's just a nice, normal guy who loves to wrestle that seems to find bad luck and trouble wherever he may go.
