The scene opens up on Solomon Bentley and Kai Harrison seated at a table on a platform. In the backdrop, down below, you can see the wrestling ring. The arena is impressively stocked with clapping fans.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s LIVE! edition of the Shining Road Review, presented to you via POLLOVISION made possible by the Pollobucket fast food corporation. "Pollobucket: it’s Cinemax after midnight – for your mouth."
He shuffles some papers.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
As always I’m here with my co-host, Kai Harrison. Tonight we are here in the Bushidokan in front of a raucous 3,700 fans and will be delivering you folks at home the live and full-length main event in tonight’s action when Alexander Irvine defends his Great Lakes Heritage Championship against Fujiko Mine. But first things first, Kai, what do you have to say about the action thus far?
KAI HARRISON:
Let’s talk about Block A. Incredible action thus far. The “Super Moto Brothers” Masayoshi Arimoto and Takeshi Morimoto go onto score a big win against Toru Ishii and Satoshi Kamakura that keeps them in the running after Morimoto spiked Kamakura on his head with his patented Edo brainbuster!
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Block A of the League would end up tied when Hayashi and Sawamura would pick up a win in the tournament after Sawamura’s judo prowess helped him take down Matsushita.
KAI HARRISON:
Another fantastic match. Sawamura’s a crafty veteran, he can beat anybody.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Now, moving onto Block B, earlier this week Hidehiko Nagata and “Starboy” Toyama would pick up a win against James Edwards and Jimmy Winner at the special INDEPENDENCE PRO-WRESTLING INVITATIONAL held in Tokyo. Block B would come into the show with all teams tied up at 2 points apiece.
KAI HARRISON:
Everyone went into tonight with a shot at the finals tonight.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Makoto Ueno and Ikki Yanagi would pick up a win in spectacular fashion after Yanagi’s Ikki lariat put down Pollomania Lucha Libre’s Scramble Champion Jimmy Winner for the count! Later in the evening, Sheik Spectre and BLADE Takano would continue their incredible run with ANOTHER major upset in the tournament after Takano caught his rival, Starboy, in a guillotine chokehold!
KAI HARRISON:
Every time BLADE Takano and “Starboy” Toyama get in the ring together, it’s one of my favorite matchups. No disrespect to Thunder Mask, but those two men are the future of the junior heavyweight division here in Shining Road.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
So, both blocks of the Shining Tag League have ties at the top and we’ve been informed that next week on June 3rd we will have the semi-finals and finals of the tournament!
KAI HARRISON:
Next Saturday night is going to be crazy with some great tag team action ahead.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
In singles action tonight, we saw several Lion’s Road superstars show why our sister company has earned worldwide respect. The Kraken defeated Hajime Tanaka with a moonsault press of all moves and Hammerstein showed off some newfound technical skills when he choked out MMA fighter Damien Turlan in the center of the ring.
KAI HARRISON:
Watching the Kraken sail majestically through the air defies all physical logic… and HAMMERSTEIN’s looking more svelte than usual, don’t you think?
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Well, there’s not a lot of hamburgers in this country to get plump on. Just don’t tell him about the Ramen museum down the street.
KAI HARRISON:
I understand you’re a regular there, Solomon.
Solomon Bentley shuffles the papers on the table with a mischievous grin that can’t deny the truth of his ramen habits.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
They do call it Top Ramen, don’t they? Anyway…after this quick commercial break we’ll break down the main event coming up later in tonight’s show where Alexander Irvine will defend the Heritage title against challenger Fujiko Mine!
We return to the table on a platform above the ring, which sits in the background.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
In a few minutes, we’ll have the main event before the 3,700 fans who came out here tonight to see this match here in Yokohama and all the folks watching thanks to POLLOVISION around the world. So let’s break it down, Kai. Alexander Irvine’s brutal reputation precedes him, doesn’t it?
KAI HARRISON:
That’s right. This is a guy who has bitten Matt Pulver, powerbombed a young female wrestler after an interview, won the Heritage title after a brutal liver shot, and injured the shoulder of Japanese superstar Kenshin Takamura last year. Trifle with him at you own peril, Solomon.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
And now he’ll be going up against Fujiko Mine. What have you got on her?
KAI HARRISON:
Let me tell you something about this young lady. She’s got moves upon moves upon moves. Obviously, Irvine will have a strength advantage and with his MMA background he knows how to use it. But Fujiko has a nimble, agile mind so you can never count her out. She’s shown an ability in Lion’s Road to use the ring to her advantage. That could be the great equalizer. Plus, she is going to be a fan favorite here tonight for more than just her Japanese heritage.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
That’s right, Kai. As many of you know, the company now known as Shining Road was once known as SAKURA Pro. The titles used in SAKURA Pro were commissioned by the Global Pro-Wrestling Society. In October of 2010, Makoto Ueno lost the GPWS Heavyweight Title to a Canadian heavyweight wrestler known as Flex Montana later absconded from Japan after an incident in a nightclub in Chiba.
KAI HARRISON:
It was an unfortunate thing to happen in this wonderful country. I’m not sure we’ll ever know exactly what went down that night.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
To this day, the GPWS has lost every appeal to return the heavyweight title to Japan. As you can imagine, the entire roster here in Shining Road has a seething hatred for Flex Montana. Now, you may be thinking: what does any of this have to do with Alexander Irvine? Well, when Alexander Irvine moved to Ontario to wrestle in Lion’s Road Pro-Wrestling in 2007, his trainer was none other than – you guessed it – Flex Montana.
KAI HARRISON:
Flex played a major role in training up Alexander Irvine to win the Maple Leaf Wrestling Association’s World Heavyweight Championship where he even earned a victory in that tournament over the current King of Lions Champion, Julian Cutlass, in what was an epic tournament.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Needless to say, folks, Fujiko is gonna have a lot of support from the fans here tonight.
The lights dim.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Let’s get this thing started. We now go down to our English language broadcast team: Tim Floss and Albert Mordecai. Take it away guys!
We move down to ringside where we see Tim Floss and Albert Mordecai and sitting at a table wearing headsets.
TIM FLOSS:
Hello everyone and welcome to the main event! I’m Tim Floss and this big oaf sitting next to me is Albert Mordecai.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Let’s get this show on the road, Timmy!
TIM FLOSS:
Who do you have tonight?
ALBERT MORDECAI:
I’ve seen a lot of big, bad mamma-jammas in my day. But this Alexander Irvine guy, he brings the dogs to the poker game if you know what I mean! If he can slow this fight down and keep it at his pace, he’ll hang onto the gold. But… if Fujiko Mine can put him in some awkward spots, if she can speed up the tempo of this match and her devastating array of kicks to her advantage, we could be a looking at a new champion tonight.
TIM FLOSS:
The competitors are going to fight this match under Shining Road Pro-Wrestling rules sanctioned by the Global Pro-Wrestling Society, meaning that we’ve got a 30 minute time limit and the first fall wins. Let’s go to the PA announcer.
SEIJI YAMASHITA:
皆さんわ。。。リングを歩いてまして、挑戦者わ。。。峰不二子です!!!
The thud of a low chime rings out, and the beginning of “Sirens” by Elephante ring through the arena. It causes the crowd to cheer loudly. The lights dim, except for a single pink spotlight. Fujiko emerges from the back, posing with her arms behind her head. The fans cheer her along as Fujiko stands there, soaking in the moment. Blue, yellow, and pink lights dance around the arena. She takes a few steps to position herself on the ramp. She pauses there for a moment as fans throw blue and yellow streamers around her on the ramp.
TIM FLOSS:
Just listen to these fans, Al!
ALBERT MOREDCAI:
They love her! What’s not to love?
She leaves them, and begins making her way down to the ring. Once she reaches ringside, Fujiko leaps onto the apron from the floor, balancing with one foot for a moment. She jumps from the apron to the top turnbuckle, and stabilizes herself for a second.
Fans throw more blue & yellow streamers around her, which are quickly removed by ringside personnel. Fujiko nods to the audience before hopping down. She moves to the center of the ring, but then moves to the ropes. Reaching them, she leans her back into the middle rope, using it and her legs to keep her leaning. She holds onto this pose as a gold spotlight focuses on her.
It holds on her for a moment before returning to normal. Fujiko then retreats to her nearest corner…
SEIJI YAMASHITA:
今わ、彼は HERITAGEチャンピオンです。アレクサンダーアーバイン!!!
In the Year of the Wolf" by Motorhead hits the Pa system as the entrance erupts with fire and through the smoke comes Alexander Irvine with his head cast down and the Heritage Championship strapped around his waist. Taking in a moment on the stage Irvine lifts his head and slowly releases the smoke from his mouth. The fans boo him relentlessly, well aware of his connection to Flex Montana.
TIM FLOSS:
Listen to those boos!
As he starts his walk to the ring he removes his BLACK Lion's Road t-shirt and throws it into the crowd. Upon reaching the ring he enters under the top rope and begins walking towards his corner, throwing a few kick/punch combinations before bouncing back and forth on the balls of his feet shaking his arms out. He takes off the Heritage title and hands it to the referee who deposits it with the ringside attendant.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Let’s do this!
The bell rings and the two wrestlers stand across from one another. Fujiko takes a low cautious stance as Irvine creeps toward her in a fighting stance but she avoids getting into trouble early and not allowing herself to get backed into a corner. Irvine continues to press the action against her defense until she drops to the mat and rolls out of the ring.
TIM FLOSS:
A cautious but effective approach thus far.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Yeah, but at some point she’s got to get back into that ring, Tim.
She gets onto the apron and Irvine rushes, grasping her by the hair so she can’t get away – but she grabs him by his bald head and pulls her head against his and drops to her knees on the apron, slamming the top of her head into Irvine’s jaw!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Talk about using your noggin!
With Irvine stunned she leaps onto the top rope and delivers a drop kick that sends Irvine to the mat with a thud! The fans are going crazy that she has the early advantage. Fujiko bounces against the ropes and attempts a Shining Wizard! NAILS IT! She covers for an early pin.
1…
2-NO!
TIM FLOSS:
An action-packed start!
She goes for a stomp against Irvine but he grabs her by the ankle and shoots her down to the mat! Fujiko gets into a full mount with Irvine on top of her just raining down punch after punch! She quickly shoots an arms out, reaches for the bottom rope, and grabs on. Irvine let’s go but pulls her by the leg and she goes flying and landing face-first into the center of the ring!
TIM FLOSS:
Like a rag doll!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
She flew about as high as Kraken earlier this evening!
Irvine drops an elbow into the small of her back and she screams in pain! He then lefts her up from the ground and drops her back down with a gutwrench suplex! He goes for a soccer kick to her head but she covers up and rolls out of the way. Irvine goes on the prowl and gets her in the corner and starts raining the body blows! Irvine backs up a bit to go in for a head of steam for a running elbow smash but Fujiko preempts him with a dropkick to the knee! Irvine goes down in a heap and clutches the knee in tremendous pain!
TIM FLOSS:
Irvine went down fast and he is still screaming out for dear glory!
ALBERT MOREDCAI:
That was a smart move by Fujiko. You see, Alexander Irvine only two days ago fought for the Lion’s Road Pro-Wrestling’s tag team titles and then hopped on a plane to arrive for this match. That’s not enough time to recover even for a young man!
TIM FLOSS:
Fujiko must have realized that those knees would still be sore and she waited for him to give her an opening. A genius move!
The fans applaud respectfully for a few moments. With Irvine down she continues to attack the knee several stomps. Then a double stomp! Irvine roars in pain! She backs off for a second, allowing Irvine just a little breathing room and then hits him with a single leg dropkick! The 4-Play! Irvine goes down. She decides that one isn’t enough and so she allows him to get up again, but Irvine lurches forward and spins her back down to the mat with a crushing spinebuster!
ALBERT MOREDCAI:
Is that Arn Anderson in the ring? What a recovery by Irvine!
He goes for the pin.
1…
2…
NO! Fujiko’s shoulder squirms out.
Irvine gingerly gets up to his feet and grasps her by the hair. Instinctively, he goes for a knee to the face but she covers up and the knee hits her forearms. He roars in pain, as he used the injured knee as a weapon! Fujiko takes this moment to jump off the middle rope and hit him with a HURRICANRANA! She’s got one leg in her grasp for the pin!
1…
2…
NO!! Irvine kicks out.
TIM FLOSS:
I think if she could’ve hooked that other leg, that could’ve ended this thing!
Fujiko scrambles up to her feet and jumps onto the top rope. Irvine jumps to his feet, but shakes the top rope and it sends her nethers crashing down onto the top turnbuckle!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Do you think that hurts for a woman? I know it does for a man!
TIM FLOSS:
Have some respect, Al!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Hey, I’m just being concerned!
Irvine, with the assistance of the top rope approaches her and gives her a shot with a gloved fist into her abdomen for good measure as he begins a climb up the top-rope and gets into a high risk situation. The crowd goes crazy as you know whatever happens next has high-risk written all over it! Standing on the middle rope, Irvine grabs her by the head, nails her with a headbutt! And then he jumps up for a TOP-ROPE HURRICANRANA!!! All Hell breaks loose in the crowd! A collective “OOOOH!!” from the crowd as they bring themselves to applaud the Unnatural!
TIM FLOSS:
MY GAWD! Alexander Irvine breaking all the stereotypes here tonight!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
That’s why he’s the Unnatural One!
The high-risk move from Irvine has unfortunately taken quite a lot out of him and he crawls over to the Fujiko’s lifeless body. He sits on his knees as he flips her over onto her back – SHE SWIVELS HER LEGS AND CATCHES HIM A CROSS ARMBREAKER!
TIM FLOSS:
Where the Hell did that come from?!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
She waited him out, Timmy. With that injured knee, it took him so long to get over to her that her senses recovered and she schemed that one perfectly!
Irvine groans in pain and tries to get up to his feet while she has the hold in – but that injured knee is giving him just as much trouble! Irvine is in pain all over! Fujiko gives a primal scream as she tries to wrench in the hold tighter! Will he tap?
Irvine struggles…
He can’t seem to break free…
He groans…
But he refuses to tap!
Finally, he gets to his feet and limps far enough, dragging her with him, to get a foot onto the ropes and the hold is broken! He grabs his elbow in pain as he limps forward.
TIM FLOSS:
Irvine’s hurt in more places than one, he doesn’t even know which injured limb to favor anymore!
Fujiko rolls up to her feet and uses her speed to keep herself at a safe distance. She goes for a knee-level dropkick but misses and Irvine clambers after her! She tries to roll out of the ring but he grabs her by ankle and pulls her back into the center of the ring and clamps on an ankle lock! But Fujiko rolls forward and gets away from his grasp, jumps up to her feet, and then BACKFLIPS INTO A FLASHKICK! THE LUCKY SHOT!!!~!
TIM FLOSS AND ALBERT MORDECAI:
WHERE THE HELL DID THAT COME FROM?!?!
The crowd cheers wildly as Irvine staggers back in the ropes where he falls into, the ropes against his back supporting his weight! He looks K.O.’d but has not fallen to the mat, so the ref can’t be sure! Fujiko gets up to her feet. She thinks for a moment and runs against one set of ropes and then springboards off into another and jumps for a springboard 4-Play – But Irvine catches the foot and pushes her back into the turnbuckle!
TIM FLOSS:
I think he got his wits back about him, Al.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
I’m not so sure. He’s still stumbling around like he’s had too much sake.
He haggardly navigates to the turnbuckle like Old Yeller looking for a bone he can’t find, still groggy from getting hit by the Lucky Shot. Fujiko in the turnbuckle jumps up to the middle turnbuckle and jumps for a TORNADO DDT-WAIT! IRVINE CATCHES HER IN MIDAIR WITH A SPEAR BACK INTO THE TURNBUCKLE! The two wrestler remain paused and each in pain. Irvine gets his wind back and sits her up on the top turnbuckle.
TIM FLOSS:
Here we go again, back to the top-shelf! This can’t end well!
He stands himself onto the middle rope, slightly off of to the side of the turnbuckle. Holding the top rope for balance, he kicks her into a gut and leaps to snatch her head and DOWNS HER TO THE CANVAS WITH AN AVALANCHE-STYLE EVENFLOW DDT!!!!!
TIM FLOSS:
MY GAWD! MY GAWD! MY GAWD!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
He’s taking risks and slipping discs in this match!
Irvine crawls over to Fujiko’s body…
1…
2…
3!!!
NO!!! FOOT ON THE ROPES!!
TIM FLOSS:
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!?!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
FORGET LADY LUCK! MORE LIKE WONDER WOMAN!!
The fans applause has turned to screaming and hollering as they chant “FU-JI-KO! FU-JI-KO!” up to the rafters of the Bushidokan.
Irvine wastes no time and sluggishly mounts on top of her. With a roar, he begins raining down punches! Fujiko can’t afford to reach for the ropes because she’d eat a blow right to the face, so she remains covered up. He sends numerous punches to the face that just keep coming on the same deadly rhythm! Fujiko’s arms are taking a bruising as she just tries to deflect some of the blows but Irvine keeps sinking them in!
Fujiko tries to wriggle away…
Blow… after blow… after blow…
Fujiko’s hands fall away from her face! She’s defenseless! THE REF SIGNALS FOR THE BELL!
TIM FLOSS:
Well, folks, this match is over! Alexander Irvine uses his ground-n-pound strategy and forces a referee stoppage here with a TKO victory.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
I tell ya what, man, in front of these fans who support her, there was no way that Fujiko was going to tap out. What a warrior! She has to be proud of that effort. Solomon and Kai, where you at??
Trainers have poured into the ring attending to Fujiko. The referee hands Alexander Irvine the Heritage title and he holds it into the air. The fans applaud him, momentarily overlooking his connections to Flex Montana and respecting his effort.
The applause grows to an even higher intensity when Fujiko stands up with the assistance of the ropes, pushing away the training staff. Irvine gives her a nod of some respect as she departs under her own power.
The camera pans back to the table on the stage with the ring in the backdrop where Alexander Irvine holds up the Heritage Championship with one arm, perhaps his only uninjured limb. The camera focuses on the Solomon Bentley and Kai Harrison.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
An epic conclusion to this Heritage title bout where Alexander Irvine would make a successful V1 defense.
KAI HARRISON:
This match had something for everyone. Submissions, stikes, suplexes, and even some high-risk aerial assaults from both wrestlers. Irvine tried a ground-n-pound earlier in the match, but Fujiko had him in the full guard and was able to keep some distance and make it to the ropes. But with Irvine in a mounted position? There was just nowhere for her to go. She lasted quite a bit, but when her hands went limp and she became defenseless, the referee knew he had to call the match.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Just another exciting night at the Bushidokan. Before we go off the air, who is your Fighting Spirit Award winner tonight?
KAI HARRISON:
In a losing effort, Fujiko Mine brought it here tonight big time. She went into this match an underdog and came out of it with everyone realizing she’s an all-world fighter.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
There you have it, folks. We are about out of time but join us next week as we will have for you the conclusion of the Shining Warriors Tag League and news regarding the All-Japan Imperial Championship tournament. Until next time, shout-out to our ringside broadcast team for an excellent call of the main event. I’m Solomon Bentley and he’s Kai Harrison. Good night!

Good night!
