SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Welcome everybody to the grand finale of our BATTLE VARIETY SERIES! And, boy, let me tell you something, it did not disappoint.
KAI HARRISON:
Solomon, what a night down here at the Bushidokan. I don’t even know where we get started.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
How about Thunder Mask defending the GPWS Jr. Heavyweight Championship against BLADE Takano? These two men traded strikes for nearly ten minutes, almost as a prelude to the Mixed Martial Arts matches next on the card, when the suplexes really picked up. Thunder Mask survived TWO Nodachi Bombs from Takano before hitting the Thunder MAX Driver to put Takano away.
KAI HARRISON:
There’s a reason Thunder Mask is a legend and we saw it on display tonight.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
In the MMA scene we saw the debut of the famed kickboxer Takeda “Sniper” Izumi win via judges’ decision, unable to KO the legendary Toru Ishii. But perhaps the biggest surprise was “Mr. Meiji” Masayoshi Arimoto taking on “King Temba” Damien Turlan despite being outweighed by nearly 80lb and squeaking out a victory! Let’s take a look at the final moments of them match.
KAI HARRISON:
Arimoto is an accomplish submission and freestyle wrestler. Turlan pounded away at him, but in the third round he wound up getting caught in a triangle hold that Arimoto converted into an armbar and it was all over by that point. It’s a major upset by Mr. Meiji and a great win to catapult him into the World Pro-Wrestling Tournament in a few weeks!
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Indeed it was. Now, in the main event we had the much awaited showdown between last year’s World Pro-Wrestling Tournament winner, Yoshihiro Sawamura, and Hayato “Falcon” Hamada, an MMA veteran. These two battled, but in the end Hamada’s youth and athleticism paid off when he caught the judoka with a kimura in the third round.
KAI HARRISON:
Both guys fought admirably this evening. It was a great show. All six fighters who competed in MMA showed why Shining Road is becoming fast known as one of the top venues for all styles of the combat arts.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Now we want to go to a live feed where we have our reporter extraordinaire, Sue Tsuboi in the field. She is standing with Julian Cutlass, the King of Lions Champion, fresh off a BLACK Lion’s Road victory with Jimmy Winner against Satoshi Kamakura and Iron Mack Brody! Sue2, we’re handing it over to you.
The scene cuts to outside the locker room. The petite and professional Sue Tsuboi stands alongside the Blazin’ King, still in the black half-tights and a sky blue ブラク t-shirt over his torso. He has his hands on his hips.
SUE TSUBOI:
Solomon, I am standing here live with the “Blazin’ King” Julian Cutlass. On behalf of all of us at Shining Road, we’ve enjoyed having you in Japan over the last four weeks.
JULIAN CUTLASS:
Thanks. I love Japan even though the food is crazy expensive.
SUE TSUBOI:
I understand that yesterday morning you got together with the sekigun roster to eat breakfast and stream Lion’s Road Pro-Wrestling’s Mane Event at Pollobucket’s CHAMPION CHICKEN!!~!! restaurant in downtown Yokohama, yes?
JULIAN CUTLASS:
Yeah, Jimmy and I got together with the Moto Brothers, Falcon and Damien from the A.R.M.B.A.R squad showed up, too, and we convinced Takahiro-san, the store manager, to open up a little early.
SUE TSUBOI:
I’m sure your eyes were fastened to the TV as you watched Matt Pulver defeat James Edwards to become the next contender for the King of Lions title.
Cutlass grins and glances down at his feet for just a moment before picking his head back up.
JULIAN CUTLASS:
Both of those guys put in a lot of effort, but Matt had just a bit more. I’m looking forward to another shot at Pulver. I couldn’t put him away the first time and then he f***ed up my tag title reign with Alex.
He chuckles a bit having cursed on camera but doesn’t care enough to express any regret.
JULIAN CUTLASS:
So, yeah. I’m excited to face Matt Pulver one more time. This time I’m not gonna let him get away so easily.
SUE TSUBOI:
Thanks for the time, Julian.
She turns to the camera.
SUE TSUBOI:
Back to you guys!
The feed returns to a wide shot of Solomon Bentley and Kai Harrison.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Thank you, Sue, and thanks to Julian Cutlass as another Lion’s Road competitor who has joined us on the Shining Road. We’ll all be watching the action back in the States when Cutlass vs. Pulver II goes down.
KAI HARRISON:
I like that way that Matt Pulver wrestles, Solomon. He too was a fan favorite while in Shining Road. Cutlass vs. Pulver II could be the biggest match in the company’s history to date.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Speaking of big matches, next week we will have the NOVA Division competing under MMA rules in a one-night tournament of the inaugural NOVA Cup. The winner not only wins the trophy and graduates from the NOVA Division, but he will also earn a spot in the World Pro-Wrestling Tournament. We will also have the A.R.M.B.A.R. duo of Hayato Hamada and Kaito Matsushita make their V1 defense of the GPWS Tag Team Championship against the “Krak-n-Mack” team from Buck U Production, Kraken and Iron Mack Brody!
KAI HARRISON:
Hell of a night that will be. There’s gonna be a lot of young talent in that tournament and a lot of beef in the tag team championship!
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
A lot of beef, indeed. Kai, who wins your Fighting Spirit Award?
KAI HARRISON:
I know we’ve built up the Hamada vs. Sawamura showdown, but I gotta tell ya, “Mr. Meiji” Masayoshi Arimoto surprised everyone in this night when he took down the giant King Temba! This place was rocking out and I think you gotta give it to him.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Well, that does it for the BATTLE VARIETY SERIES. But the fun never stops here at the Shining Road Review. We’ll see you next week for the NOVA Cup and we'll be outlining the week of the World Pro-Wrestling Tournament so you'll know exactly what to expect! Wanna go get some ramen, Kai?
KAI HARRISON:
If you stick me with the bill again, I might be the next guy to try out Lion’s Road wrestler Ben Chrenshaw’s Wrinkle in Time on a troublemaker…
Solomon winces as the camera fades.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
That’s gotta hurt…

Let’s take a look at the final moments of them match.
Arimoto in the red and white half-tights finds himself in a full guard with the massive 330lb former offensive lineman Damien Turlan reigning blows down upon him. Arimoto is covering up with his hands around his face.
TIM FLOSS:
Mr. Meiji is taking a beating, Al!
ALBERT MOREDCAI:
Well, he’s at huge weight disadvtange and King Temba is bringing it all down upon him!
As Turlan throws punches, Arimoto transitions in between the strikes into a triangle hold. The crowd screams with excitement! BUT WAIT! Turlan is gonna pick him up for a powerbomb!
TIM FLOSS:
Look out!
Arimoto’s body is several inches above the ground when he twists and locks in an armbar! He crashes his wish head against the mat but hangs on and slowly… brings Turlan down with him!
The big man’s got nowhere to go!
Turlan TAPS OUT! The crowd is on their feet going crazy for Mr. Meiji!
TIM FLOSS:
A stunning reversal! Can you believe it?! Can you believe it?! My gawd!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
That’s a professional right there, Timmy!
