8/17/2017 - Mane Event

Justin Seville and Alan Envy are standing inside the ring as Matt Pulver and AJ Knight step off of the stage, walk around the ring and climb up onto their side of the apron. 

JAKE AARONS
Ladies and gentlemen, this Summer Tag League bout is to be a fought over a fifteen minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner.  Introducing first at a combined weight of four hundred and fifty eight pounds.... "ICONIC" ALAN ENVY and "SERIOUS" JUSTIN SEVILLE!

Envy raises his arms while Seville shoots his mouth off toward Pulver and Knight.

JAKE AARONS
Their opponents at a combined weight of three hundred and ninety five pounds... AJ KNIGHT and MATT PULVER!

Pulver and Knight slap hands and briefly talk some strategy.

JAKE AARONS
Your referee for this bout is Robbie Morris!

Morris raises his hand in response as Aarons exits the ring, the referee tells both sides that he needs one in, one out.   Instead, Envy and Seville both attack Pulver and Knight from behind! Seville pounds away on Pulver while Envy takes care of Knight! Both men back their respective opponent into the ropes and launch them across, Pulver comes back and nails a single leg dropkick on Seville while Knight waylays Envy with a flying forearm! Seville rolls out of the ring, but AJ grabs Envy and he and Pulver back him into the ropes and shoot him out.  A double back body drop follows, Pulver tries to turn around and make the lateral press but Seville grabs Envy and rolls his partner out of the ring and to the safety of the floor.  Pulver and Knight turn and play to the crowd a bit while Envy shakes his head his frustration and slaps the mat, Seville just keeps eyeing Pulver.  Pulver points to himself then extends his arms, inviting Seville into the ring.  Serious jumps onto the apron, but Envy grabs him and tells him he'll handle it.  Pulver turns to AJ, rolling his eyes as Envy enters the ring and circles around with Pulver.  A lock-up ensues and the five inch taller and nearly sixty pounds heavier Alan Envy backs Pulver into the corner with ease.  Envy controls him there as Morris begins his five count, Envy holds Pulver there with his left hand and begins creating distance... only to swing his right! Pulver ducks! Envy gets not one, not two but three forearm strikes from Pulver! The two time tag team champion grabs Envy and goes to shoot him across, but Envy reverses it and tries to yank him back in but another forearm connects! Envy stumbles back into the ropes but tries pushing forward, only to get dropkicked to the mat!

CHAD GOMEZ
Sure, but he's got to follow up - he's just waiting for him to get back up.  This isn't Lord Mountevans rules!

Pulver backs up, allowing Envy to get back on his feet and the two lock-up again. Envy pulls a side headlock but Pulver knows not to get himself stuck in this position so he pushes the Iconic toward the ropes and shoves him off.  Pulver slaps AJ's hand and drops down, Envy jumps over him and right into an atomic drop from AJ! With Envy staggered, AJ scoops him up and slams him to the mat while Pulver rolls out of the ring.  AJ clamps on a grounded wrist lock, but it doesn't take Envy long to begin the ascent back to his feet.  He backs Knight into the ropes, waiting for Morris to get in close to call for the break.  When he does, Envy tries a right hand again but AJ ducks it, grabs him and slings him across.  AJ charges him, looking for a lariat but Envy ducks and keeps running.  AJ spins and roars out with an elbow in mind, but Envy grabs the ropes and stops short - dropping to the mat and rolling out.  Knight walks towards him, allowing Justin Seville to enter the ring via automatic tag and smash Knight from behind! AJ falls to his knees but gets back up, only for Serious Seville to pop him with a punch! AJ falls against the ropes and Seville knees him in the midsection several times before shooting him across.  Knight sees Envy getting onto the apron in front of him and slams his flying forearm into his cranium to knock him back down.  Seville knees AJ in the back, driving him to the mat in a hurry.  Several stomps follow and AJ is yanked to his feet, Seville lights him up with kicks to the legs which drive AJ to seek refuge in the corner but hell find zero as AJ is dragged from the neutral corner over to enemy territory.  Seville turns and swings at Pulver, who tries to dart into the ring - Robbie Morris stops him and Alan Envy grabs a hold of AJ while Seville works him with body shots. 

CHAD GOMEZ
Matt Pulver might be a two time tag team champion, but these two know the game, Sambo.  Experience is the trump card!

Seville slaps hands with Envy, then the duo grabs AJ and drag him away from the ropes... each man hooks him, SUPLEX! Seville exits the ring as Alan Envy exits to the apron, climbing up the ropes in the neutral corner.  Pulver is slamming his hand off the top turnbuckle and stomping on the apron, trying to rally the fans behind AJ and this forces Envy to waste precious seconds steadying himself.  Knight rolls to his feet, Envy abandons the plans for an elbow drop and comes off with a double axe handle... but Knight punches him in the gut! Envy flips to the mat and Knight turns around, grabbing Envy in a front chancery and backing up into the ropes.  Pulver tags himself in and hops over the top rope, Knight lets go of Envy and Pulver takes over.  He grabs Envy and whips him right into his corner where Seville puts his arms up.

SAM HEWITT
Oh, he doesn't want any of this?

CHAD GOMEZ
The man just came back from injury! Just because a doctor cleared you doesn't mean you need to go full bore right away, that's how you aggravate things.  Especially against a spastic submission specialist like Matt Pulver.

SAM HEWITT
He didn't seem to have any issue swinging his fist.

Pulver charges into the corner, looking to strike Seville but Envy catches him... SPINEBUSTER!

BROKEN UP BY AJ!

Seville charges in, grabbing AJ and throws him through the ropes to the cement floor.  He stomps Pulver a few times, buying Envy a few seconds to get back up on his feet.  Knight reaches into the ring and yanks Seville out to the floor by the ankle.  The two begin battling while Envy peels Pulver up off the mat, signalling for the end... he pulls him in with a front face lock...

PULVER STICKS HIS LEG BEHIND ENVY'S!

GANNOSUKE CLUTCH!

AJ GRABS HIM!

The Kenosha crowd explodes! Pulver rolls out of the ring, Seville is let go by Knight and the veteran fighter slaps the mat in frustration as Envy gets up, looking equally annoyed by that.  The veteran duo stares menacingly at Knight and Pulver as Morris raises their arms in victory.

SAM HEWITT
Erase any doubt about this team - they secured their win!

CHAD GOMEZ
I'll erase my doubt when they score two, Sambo.  You need TWO to advance to the final stage and guess who they got next? The Midnight Horsemen featuring one, Hammerstein.  AJ says he won't fight him so how are they going to win?

SAM HEWITT
It'll be interesting to see for sure.  That bout is on August 24th in Milwaukee, so too will be Justin Sevile and Alan Envy against the Sinister Enclave.  It'll be a volatile bout because you have two teams who don't give a damn about the rules in a do or die situation.  They're both 0-1, so someone's going home.  A draw won't save 'em. 

CHAD GOMEZ
No, that's a good point.  A draw is as good as a loss in the Summer Tag League, you need Ws.

We're going to take a quick commercial break and come back with a special look at the Iron Road tournament final from last year in Kenosha.  Don't go away.

We come back from break, Buster Powell hands the Heritage Heavyweight title off to a stage hand and checks over Irvine before heading over and doing the same to Kincaid.

JAKE AARONS
Ladies and gentlemen, this Iron Road bout is to be fought over a fifteen minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner! Introducing first making his Lion's Road debut! He's from Bearing, Alberta! He weighs in at two hundred and thirty pounds! ALEX KINCAID!

The Bullet King starts stretching in the corner, warming himself up to await the bell.

JAKE AARONS
His opponent from Keokuk, Iowa! He weighs in at two hundred and fifteen pounds! ALEXANDER IRVINE!

Irvine shakes his arms out.

JAKE AARONS
Your referee for this bout is Buster Powell!

Powell signals for the opening bell to our first bout of the 2017 edition of the Iron Road. Alex Kincaid and the Heritage Champion circle around twice before engaging in a collar and elbow tie-up, the smaller Irvine and larger Kincaid jockey for position in the middle of the ring.  Each nearly dropping to their knees in order to gain an advantage.  Kincaid finally gets the upper hand but can only manage to back the Heritage Heavyweight Champion back into the corner.  Powell calls for the break, Irvine grabs Kincaid's head in a plume clinch but Kincaid pushes off Irvine and out of harm's way.  After about forty five seconds of deliberations, they lock-up again but Irvine traps Kincaid's left arm and quickly transitions from a wrist lock into an arm wringer/wrist lock combination.  He uses this leverage to force Kincaid down to his knees, but the Bullet King gets up and reverses it into one of his own! Irvine reels on his feet, trying to grab Kincaid's leg as he's focused on applying pressure but he wisely brings it out of range as he increases the pressure.  Irvine dives forward, rolling through and pops back up and tries to counter it but Kincaid trips him back down! He plants the arm on the ground and drops a knee on the forearm!

CHAD GOMEZ
Wise strategy.  He throws a lot of strikes, a lot of knockout strikes.  You weaken that arm, there's less you got to worry about.  Of course, Irvine is the kind of guy that the moment you think you've got him then he beats you with something else. 

SAM HEWITT
Kincaid is an interesting case - he's actually got a year experience on Irvine.

Kincaid gets up, plants his foot next to Irvine's head and wraps the arm around his leg and cranks on more pressure.  Irvine doesn't grunt or yell, but his face tells the tale of obvious discomfort.  Kincaid puts Irvine's arm back down on the mat and stomps on it again before letting it go, Irvine sits up and shakes it out before he climbs back up to his feet.  Kincaid sits in the corner smiling as Irvine looks unimpressed.  The two men circle about again, Irvine does a go behind and clamps on a full nelson.  Kincaid tries to fight it, but Irvine pushes on the back of his knee and forces him to the mat... but Kincaid doesn't stay down there for long and fights back, reverses it into a full nelson of his own.  Irvine lifts his knee, wraps his hands underneath it and brings the leg down to break Kincaid's grip.  Irvine turns around ready to strike, but gets a dropkick to the knee! Irvine falls to the mat, Kincaid grabs the arm and drops a couple knees on it again! Irvine rolls out of the ring, holding his forearm in pain and once more shaking it out.  He powders about and rolls back in, Kincaid asks him if he's ready to go.

CHAD GOMEZ
Look at this blatant disrespect.  It's like moving into a new home and teasing the big dog in the neighbour's yard.  Not a great first impression.

Irvine and Kincaid circle each other, the Bullet King makes a few attempts toward the arm but Irvine keeps moving.  When the time is right, Irvine swoops in and picks the ankle - taking Kincaid down to the mat with such ease.  Kincaid manages to get into the sprawl position, Irvine tries to clamp on a front chancery but the Bullet King slinks out and applies a hammerlock! Irvine drapes a leg over the bottom rope to force a break, Kincaid keeps it applied loosely as Irvine gets up to his knees then lets go.  Irvine clocks him with a big right, Kincaid staggers and Irvine sees an opportunity to use the flying knee! Kincaid MOVES and grabs Irvine's arm on the way through, hammerlock applied again! Kincaid uses Irvine's strategy from earlier, pushing on the back of the knee to send Irvine down to his knees on the mat and increase the pressure on the hold.  Irvine fights back up and ducks underneath, so that the two are now face to face with Kincaid still having a grip on his arm.  Irvine yanks him... HEADBUTT!

SAM HEWITT
A sickening thud!

Kincaid is bloodied up from the blow, but swings in his dazed state.  Irvine grabs him in a standing head and arm choke, but Kincaid backs him up into the corner to prevent a takedown attempt.  Powell steps in to separate the two, but Irvine tries to advance on his opponent as Kincaid takes his place in the corner.  Powell turns and pushes Irvine away, telling him to stay back while he checks the cut.  Kincaid is cut along the brow and bleeding badly.  Powell checks it out, Kincaid insists he's good and Powell takes his word and backs off.  Irvine charges in and forearms him across the face, Kincaid goes down to a knee while Irvine holds his forearm in pain from the earlier attacks.  The pain fuels the Wolf as he grabs the Bullet King up and smashes him against the top turnbuckle! Kincaid slinks back against the buckles and Irvine drags him out in a front waist hold... BELLY TO BELLY! Irvine moves swiftly into side control and starts dropping the point of his elbow across Kincaid's face, while the Bullet King is defending against Irvine trying to gain mount position.  Kincaid seemingly gets a second wind as he explodes from the bottom, up to a sprawl position and backs Irvine up into the ropes.  Blood is covering the canvas and Irvine, who releases the front chancery at Powell's request and shoves Kincaid away.   Powell steps between them again.

Once again, Buster Powell is checking out the cut along the brow of Alex Kincaid stemming from Irvine's headbutt.  And now... he's motioning to Dr. Pierson, who's coming up to the r-Kincaid breaks free!

Kincaid shoves Powell aside and charges at Irvine, who's caught a bit off guard by the Flying Lariat! Irvine goes down, Kincaid heads up top but Dr. Pierson and Buster Powell stop him.  The blood has increased and Pierson attempts to clean it up, with a begrudgingly impatient Kincaid.  Pierson takes his towel away, having cleaned up the blood but just as quickly as it's cleaned up, a second mess is made.  Pierson tells Powell to stop the bout and the referee signals for the bell.

JAKE AARONS
Ladies and gentlemen, our ringside physician Dr. Pierson has requested the bout be stopped due to the severity of the cut on Alex Kincaid's face.

The fans boo and Irvine raises his arms, Kincaid is none too pleased as a cutman tries to clean him up a bit before taking him to the back.

SAM HEWITT
Alexander Irvine picks up his first two points here in the Iron Road albeit in controversial fashion.  A bad cut indeed on the face of Alex Kincaid, who's clearly not happy with the call as it puts a premature end to his Lion's Road debut.

CHAD GOMEZ
He should just be happy that someone cared enough to think of his well being.  Irvine is the Wolf... he's not going to stop for a cut, Kincaid's body would need bags upon bags of blood if they let him continue fighting the Heritage Champion.

Irvine raises his Heritage belt on the stage as we go to break.
