We open to the studio.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Well everyone, welcome to the Shining Road Review! Folks, we had a big show where we finally received the much anticipated announcement for the #1 contender for the All-Japan Imperial Championship. Was it Masayoshi Arimoto, Julian Cutlass, or Falcon Hamada? The answer? None of the above! After Hidehiko Nagata defeated Takeshi Morimoto with a backdrop driver, Shining Road President Takeo Yoshida announced that he would fight for the title on 9/9!
KAI HARRISON:
I’m very happy for Nagata-san. This could possibly be his last shot at the title given his age. I’m very much looking forward to the match.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Indeed. Now, if you follow my blog, you’ll note that earlier in the week President Yoshida promised that this year’s Sword of Lite Grand Prix would have major stakes. Well, tonight he delivered on his promise. In most years, the winner receives a shot at the GPWS Jr. Heavyweight Champion. But this year, in an effort to promote a spirit of cooperation with Maximum Japan Pro-Wrestling, the winner will become the first MAX-J Jr. Heavyweight Champion! There’s a lot on the line, Kai.
KAI HARRISON:
I love the Sword of Lite tournament and so do many others. The fact that we’re gonna be holding it across town in the Mirai Dome says it all. The crowds will be tremendous and the matches will be off-the-charts as competitors compete to hold the Sword of Lite AND the MAX-J Jr. Heavyweight Championship.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Now on next week’s show, we’ll have #1 contenders matches for the junior heavyweight titles and tag titles. Additionally, Ikki Yanagi has challenged Jimmy Winner to a match under catch wrestling rules. Now, Kai, who wins the fighting spirit award for the evening?
KAI HARRISON:
Did you catch that match with Damien Turlan and Iron Mack Brody? King Temba knocked Brody out cold! I hear he’ll be all right, but he took a big shot to the chin. Gotta give it to King Temba!
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Congratulations, Damien and so long folks! We'll see ya next week for a show of #1 contenders!
