Greetings from Yokohama,
The Review is taking a break this week and the Bushidokan is quiet (though I think I saw Makoto Ueno doing pushups in the hallway...). Anyhoo, I just enjoyed some top ramen and a Georgia Coffee and to believe I thought that lunch would be the highlight of my day! Takeo Yoshida just announced a major new signing – the behemoth MMA fighter Nappa “Battleship” Hirata has signed onto Shining Road and will debut on the 9/30 show under MMA rules against the KRAKEN! The Bushidokan will be thunderous watching these two behemoths rumble in the ring. In an even more exciting twist, Yoshida promises this match as a “co-main event”! There’s still a lot of mystery that will unfold on 9/30!
Some other news and notes:
**All eyes will be on the Julian Cutlass vs. KOSUKE kickboxing match scheduled for 9/23. Rumor has it that the winner may be the next contender to face Makoto Ueno, the All-Japan Imperial Champion. KOSUKE, as you may remember, has risen to prominence for defeating Hiroyuki Fukudome at the FUSION supershow in the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City!
**Who will be the mystery fighter scheduled to face Zen Hayashi under catch wrestling rules? We’ve heard a lot of names thrown about. The only hint we have received is that this opponent has championship talent written all over him.
**The 2017 Sword of Lite Grand Prix draws nearer by the day and will feature the best light heavyweight talent from around the globe. Competitors from Lion’s Road, Shining Road, and MAX Japan Pro-Wrestling have all contributed fighters to compete in this prestigious cause.
**Reporters spotted Tranklin Media Group’s representative, Stacy Watts, emerge from a meeting in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The cameras caught her shaking hands with Hank Mulder, the former CEO of the ill-fated Federation MAPLE! that folded in the late 2000s. We have heard talk that negotiations are in the works to return the GPWS Heavyweight Championship from Flex Montana. Could we be one step closer to realizing this dream?
Well that's all for this week. Be sure to watch the Shining Road Review on 9/23 for another exciting night of action!
