We open up on Solomon and Kai in the studio.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Hello, everyone and welcome the Shining Road Review. We had a big night down at the Bushidokan, didn’t we, Kai?
KAI HARRISON:
We sure did. The “young rivals” of Ikki Yanagi and Takeshi Morimoto meet under MMA rules tonight. Previously, they have fought under submission rules and although Morimoto won both matches, it went to a decision both times. Well, in the MMA ring, we finally got the result decided inside the squared circle. Ikki Yanagi, apparently working on his kick game, nailed a soccer kick to Morimoto’s head and the ref decided to call the match.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
A lot of noise had been made about Nappa “Battleship” Hirata’s arrival and he went up against a tough nugget in the mighty KRAKEN. The two goliaths slugged out over three rounds, but Hirata was able to take the fight to the ground and submit the big man with a kimura.
KAI HARRISON:
Let’s not forget earlier in the night, Alexander Irvine defeated Sheik Spectre in a boxing match. Irvine essentially got off the plane and headed right down to the Bushidokan, flying in from Minnesota. A busy, but a powerful puncher.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Powerful, indeed. Next week on the show we’ll see the All-Japan Imperial Champion Makoto Ueno make his V2 defense against Yoshihiro Sawamura under MMA rules. Ueno is a world-class Greco-Roman amateur wrestler while Sawamura has represented Japan throughout Asia at prestigious Judo competitions and is also an instructor at Fujiyama dojo. This will be an interesting match next week.
KAI HARRISON:
It sure will. Look, Ueno comes in with a big weight advantage. Sawamura is a heavyweight-class fighter, but in terms of size he is essentially a light heavyweight fighter. But Sawamura is sneaky. He has great defense and it’ll be hard for Ueno find a chink in his armor. But for Sawamura, Ueno is a massive man. He won’t be able to push him around.
SOLOMON BENTLEY:
Man, I can’t wait for next week! We’ll see you then, folks!
