At a Federation MAPLE! media event in Victoria, British Columbia, Flex Montana conducting an interview was asked about Shining Road Pro-Wrestling and the mysterious incident that led to his leaving Japan so many years ago and absconding with the GPWS Heavyweight Championship. Before Flex could answer, none other than Alexander Irvine from Lion’s Road Pro-Wrestling appeared! Irvine said that the boys in the back in Shining Road had sent him for vengeance and he challenged Montana on the spot to defend the title. Flex Montana said that he would take on his former student any day! After consulting with Pollobucket, it was agreed that Alexander Irvine could be temporarily released to sign a one-day contract with Shining Road in order to represent the company and compete for the GPWS title on next Thursday’s show.
On 10/11, the two men would climb into the ring and it would be a master vs. student showdown! Flex Montana showed off his powerlifting prowess early and at one point tossed Irvine over his head with a military press! But Irvine would battle back by targeting the tree trunk legs of Montana. At one point, he had Montana in a Figure 4 Leg Lock but Montana would make it to the ropes. At the 20 minute mark, Flex would pick up Irvine and slam him down with his patented Montana-style chokeslam! But Irvine would kick out at the last second! Montana would go for the chokeslam one more time, but Irvine broke the hold and hit Montana with an elbow smash that sent him falling face down into the mat. Irvine would then latch onto Montana’s ankle, scissors around the leg to keep him from making it to the ropes. Montana would reach out but eventually was forced to succumb and tapped out! The crowd went crazy as the ring attendant handed the GPWS Heavyweight Championship to Alexander Irvine, the man who would finally end Montana’s 7 year stranglehold on the belt.
This title change has significant ramifications for Shining Road Pro-Wrestling. Flex Montana had been barred from returning to Japan and the Japanese press historically had slammed any mention of native fighters traveling to Canada to fight for the GPWS title. Now that the title is in Irvine's possession, this now opens the door for the title to return to Shining Road. All eyes are now on Alexander Irvine, the current GPWS Heavyweight Champion, who has said he intends to defend the title throughout Japan.
