Hello wrestling fans, it's Solomon Bentley here! And it was a shocking day down at the Bushidokan!
We would start the show with the surprise appearance of the newest Japanese Hero, the Demon Lord Zenki! He strolled down the ramp with the GPWS Heavyweight title around his waist, the first Japanese wrestler to hold the title in nearly eight years. He addressed the crowd, thanking the nation of Japan for their support and then called Shining Road President Takeo Yoshida from the back. Once Yoshida arrived, Zenki delivered the surprise of the night: he declared that he was vacating the GPWS title! With the MAX-J Heavyweight title now around the waist of another gaijin, Zenki claimed that he needed to focus on returning that heavyweight title to its proper glory. Yoshida accepted the title.
Also on the show, Thunder Mask would make his successful V5 defense of the GPWS Jr. Heavyweight title against DARK FEATHER II. Julian Cutlass and Jimmy Winner would represent Black Lion’s Road against SAKURA gundan’s own Hajime Tanaka and Yoshihiro Sawamura. Jimmy would stun the fans by submitting Tanaka with a cross armbreaker! James Edwards, still in Japan after an MJPW show, defeated Takeshi Morimoto – a rival to MJPW’s own GRIM – in singles competition to avenge his loss.
Recently, rumors have been swirling that the All-Japan Sports and Wrestling Commission – the governing body of the Imperial Championship – would withdraw their support from Shining Road if the GPWS title was returned. Naoki Sugiyama, the chairman of the AJSWC, addressed the audience stating that he would continue to have the title defended in Shining Road on 12/16 at the “AMAZING GALAXY” show and make the following blockbuster announcement: the next contender would be the summer’s gaijin pro-wrestling sensation Mike Musket! It was announced the match would take place under submission shootfighting rules, since the age of Musket – fighting under his real name of Mike Connors – likely prevents him from being cleared for mixed martial arts competition. The fans went ballistic and during the show we heard from the current champion, Makoto Ueno, who thanked Zenki for bringing honor to the Japanese people and said that he would ensure he would not lose to the catch wrestling veteran.
