A press conference was held at Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Several prominent members of Buck U Productions and different sports athletic commissions, as well as representatives from both the city of Winnipeg and True North Sports & Entertainment.
The first to speak was David Flynn, Buck U Pro’s Vice President of Pro Wrestling Relations and Social Media. He welcomed members of the media and fans in attendance to the press conference and then announced that Buck U Pro was opening their own wrestling promotion, Pro Wrestling Grand Prix. PWGP would be touring throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and of course Manitoba, and was hoping to secure bookings in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Minnesota and North & South Dakota in the near future.
At this time David introduced, Mr. Robert Fredrick, who would be the spokesperson for the Buck U Sports Commission, the organization that would oversee PWGP, on Buck U Pro’s behalf, and to make decision on his own when called upon. Robert Fredrick came up to the podium and thanked both the commission, as well as Buck U Productions for instilling faith in his abilities and promised not to let them down. He then announced that PWGP would be hosting its first show on December 8th here in Winnipeg, Manitoba at Bell MTS Place and announced that several competitors were already signed to compete, including Eli Buchanan, Kraken, as well as several upcoming local talents, such as Alan Hunter and The East K Connection. He went on to announce the company’s first championship, the Television Title, and informed the crowd that due to his recent win of the Buck U Cup, and Pollomania alumni, Faititili, was named as the first holder of the championship. Faititili was brought up on stage and formally presented with the Television Championship title. Robert Fredrick would then inform the new champion, as well as everyone in attendance that the title would be defended each week on their weekly program, PWGP “Charge”.
The press conference was concluded with Robert Fredrick promising that there would be more information in the days to come, including an announcement for the company’s first super show, plus a few surprises. He opened up the proceedings so the members of the media could ask questions. Try as they might though, the reporters weren’t able to get much else out of Fredrick or Flynn, as they and the other representatives from Buck U were tight lipped about what the company had planned. What was revealed though was the plan to crown two more champions by the time of their second super show. Beyond that there was little more than sound bite from Winnipeg’s mayor and the other dignitaries about how proud they all were about PWGP hosting their first show in the city.
The event ended with a fan meet and greet with David Flynn, Robert Fredrick and the few wrestlers in attendance.
