The announcing team of Greg Stradford and “Big Bad” Paul Carlyle greet all of us as we go live from Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the debut episode of PWGP “Charge” opens with Spokesman Robert Fredrick standing in the middle of the ring standing beside a covered podium. He welcomes everyone to the inaugural show and promised a huge announcement. In four weeks time Pro Wrestling Grand Prix would present its first super show, “Battle Bowl”. PWGP was planning to revive this old favourite, including ten “Lethal Lottery” tag team matches, where the partners were chosen at random with only the winners advancing to a ten man battle royal. At this point, Fredrick removed the cover from the podium and revealed a championship belt. He announced that the winner of the Battle Bowl Battle Royal would be proclaimed the first ever PWGP Global Champion.
“New Orleans is Sinking” starts playing and out comes “The Last Dragon” Eli Buchanan, followed by his manager, Saul Asper, and the French Colossus, Kraken. Eli gets in the ring and after apologising for the interruption, announces his plan to enter the Lethal Lottery with the hopes of going on to win the Global Title. Saul Asper steps in and proclaims that his other client, Kraken will also be entering his name and guarantees that one of them will win.
This brings out Alan Hunter, a favourite of the Winnipeg crowd. He announces that he too will be entering. It;s implied that he and Asper have had past interactions with one another in another organisation and Hunter questions why Eli would want anything to do with Asper and suggests only signed with him because he was too stupid. Kraken, who clearly understands English better than he lets on, tries to attack Hunter. Eli tries to calm both him and Asper down.
Out comes the high flyer, Bryant Adam Thompson. Eli turns around and eats a springboard dropkick from Notorious B.A.T., and rolls out of the ring. Kraken charges him, but Alan Hunter catches with with a super kick. He and Thompson then double dropkick the stunned big man and he falls out of the ring between the ropes. The fans cheer as the two men stand tall in the ring, while Asper helps his men regroup on the arena floor.
Asper grabs a microphone and demands that Thompson and Hunter be suspended for this unmerited assault and not be allowed to particpate in the Lethal Lottery. This leads to a back and forth banter with Robert Fredrick who announces that the Buck U Sports Commision, which oversees the running of PWGP, has given him the authorisation to book any matches he sees fits. Therefore, he proclaims, in tonight’s main event Buchanan, Kraken, Hunter and Thompson will participate in a Fatal Four Way Match, with the implication that the winner will be granted the opportunity to choose his own partner for the Lethal Lottery at “Battle Bowl”. However, the individual who is pinned or made to submit will be out of the the Lethal Lottery.
He wishes all four men the best of luck and leaves the ring. As we go to break the announcer hype the main event and we get on last glance of the four men arguing.

MATCH 1
Vod & The Moondogs (Buster & Runt)
vs
Jimmy Jive & The Things (Uno & Dos)
We return from break with our opening contest. Both teams appear to be very odd ball combinations, however, he baby face team of “High Five” Jimmy Jive and The Things, being a trio of fun loving guys, seems to hit it off right away. Meanwhile the sea monster, Vod seems standoffish with his partners, The Moondogs, and their colourful manager, The Guru.
Jive and The Things control the early goings of the match, playing tricks on both Moondogs and making both of them, and their manager, looks like fools with their fun loving antics. The tide changes quickly, no pun intended, when Vod gets in the ring. His straight ahead bruiser tactics soon leave Thing Uno in trouble. For the next several minutes the heel team beat down on member of the Things team who insists that the announcers refer to him as “Chocolate Thunder”. It’s only when Moondog Runts over exuberance gets the better of him and he hits a running shoulder tackle in the corner, that Dos is able to tag in Jive.
The seasoned vet starts clearing house with a series of hip tosses. Soon his partners come in the ring and they take turns hip tossing Moondog Runt around the ring. Jive looks to go for his finisher, The Wipe Out, when a face in the crowd distracts him. The announcer both seem shocked as well, but before they can tell us more, Vod has entered the ring and hit Jive with The Deep Six. He quickly makes the cover and wins the match for his team.
After the match, Vod immediately leaves the ring, all but ignoring his partners. Meanwhile back in the ring The Things are asking Jive what happened. All Jive can do is point at the young man, who is now leaving the front row in disgust. We finally learn from the announcers that this is in fact Jimmy’s estranged son, James Daniels, who Jive hasn’t seen in years.
The Things try to console Jive, as the announcers tells us we have to go to break.
Winners: Vod and The Moondogs
***
Back from break we find The Guru running after Vod. He tells the sea monster he sees potential in him and offers him his services as a manager. Vod brushes him off and walks away. The Guru yells after him to think about his offer and walks away, undetered.
Meanwhile, Eli Buchanan confronting his manager, Saul Asper, in their locker room. He wants to know why Asper can’t keep his big mouth shut and is angry that he has gotten him and Kraken in a situation that could lead to one of them not being able to participate in the Lethal Lottery.
Asper assures him and Kraken that they have nothing to fear. By the end of the night one of them will be the winner and will then be able to name the other as his tag team partner for the Lethal Lottery and that the plan is full proof.
Asper leaves and we catch Eli and Kraken conversing in French. The conversation is not understood by our English speaking viewers, however, Kraken laughs at the end and pats his stablemate on the shoulder before walking off.
MATCH 2
Cielo Guerrera (0 points)
vs
Zaros (0 points)
The announcer inform us that Cielo Guerrera is on loan from AMLL in Mexico and will be participating in the Lethal Lottery in four weeks. His opponent, the Life Tree hating goblin, Zaros, seems unimpressed by the luchadore form Mexico City.
Guerrera catches Zaros off guard in the earlier goings of the match with a series of head-scissor takeovers and arm drags. The goblin tries to escape to the arena floor, only to be caught by a plancha. Zaros is only able to gain control of the match when he uses the referee, Jose Doe, as a human shield and then catches Guerrera with a cheap shot to set up his own attack.
The rookie shows a great amount of skill grounding his more seasoned opponent and when Guerrera rolls out of the ring, proves that he too can fly, catching the luchadore with a suicide dive.
It’s soon after that leads to the end. Zaros’s lack of experience finally catches up with him and he missed his finisher, “Life Tree Down”. Cielo Guerrera is able to fire back with a series of maneuvers, finished off with a hurricanrana that drops Zaros right on the top of his head. Guerrera quckly ascends the top rope and delivers a devastating 630 Splash that allows him to pick up the three count and pick up the victory.
Winner: Cielo Guerrero (1 points)
The announcers are clearly confused what the points mean, nor what they’ll be used for. Stradford suggest we’ll probably learn more in the weeks to come. With that said, it’s commercial time once again.
***
Back from break and we find Alan Hunter talking to Bryant Adam Thompson. Hunter thanks Thompson for having his back out there but reminds him that later tonight it’ll be every man for himself. Thompson agrees, but suggests that they two of them team up to eliminate Buchanan and Kraken, who will clearly be working together, and when one of them wins they can pick the other to be their partner for the Lethal Lottery. Hunter agrees and the two men shakes hands before parting ways.
MATCH 3
The Agents of Pain (Agents B & D)
vs
The East K Connection (Easy E and Sweet Daddy D)
The Winnipeg crowd is immediately on the side of the hometown team, Easy E and Sweet Daddy D, who grew up in the local community of East Kildonan, of which they take their team name from. Meanwhile the Agents of Pain do little to endear themselves to the crowd, throwing insults and rude gestures at the fans in attendance.
The opening few minutes of the match see the two teams jockeying for position, with the action going back and forth. It doesn’t take the local boys long to temporarily get the better of the Agents, tossing them both out of the ring. Easy E charges across the ring and Sweet Daddy D back flips him over the ropes and sends him crashing onto the Agents on the arena floor. When Easy E tries to throw Agent B back into the ring, he’s blindsided by Agent D, while the referee, Andrew Roller, is busy trying to get Sweet Daddy D out of the ring.
The next several minutes see the Agents making a series of quick tags while working over Easy E’s neck and upper body, setting him up for their Double Flap Jack finisher. At one point Easy E gets the tag to his partner, but the referee missed it, trying to get Agent B out of the ring, and disallowed the tag. Moments later the masked man from “The 7th Moon of Thunder” final makes the hot tag after a mistimed clothesline by Agent D, nearly takes his partner’s head off. The crowd gets behind Sweet Daddy D as he clears house and levels both Agents with a pair of reverse atomic drops, followed up with super kicks.
Despite his obvious fatigue, Easy E wants back into the match. Agent D is tossed out of the ring and the masked man sets Agent B up for the 7th Move of Thunder. Once again, referee, Andrew Roller becomes preoccupied trying to get Sweet Daddy D out of the ring and misses a blatant eye gouge from Agent D, which allows him and his partner to hit their finisher The Flap Jack and get the pin fall victory.
The Agents quickly make their escape after they have their hands held high in victory. Sweet Daddy D can be seen arguing with the referee and pointing at his partner, who’s clutching his eyes in pain. Andrew Roller begs off, stating he can’t call what he didn’t see and leaves the ring. Up on stage the Agents of Pain stand there, laughing at the East K Connection before stepping into the back as we go to a commercial break.
Winners: The Agents of Pain
***
Back from break we find the Agents of Pain celebrating their victory. The Guru walks up and congratulates them. Much like earlier with Vod, he offers them his services, but the Agents tell him that they already have representation and suggest he leave before they pound him into the ground. The Guru quickly excuses himself and the pair of goons snicker as he runs off.
MATCH 5
PWGP Televison Title Match
(Champion) Faititili (0 points)
vs
True North Ant (0 points)
Ring announcer, Nick Christoulos informs us of the ten minute television time limit, and the announcers waste no time informing the audience watching on television and on the internet, that the title won’t change hands if the match reaches the time limit.
Despite being from Northern Manitoba, True North Ant gets no love from the crowd, with many chanting “TNA Sucks” at him, which we’re sure that the fans watching around the world would agree.
The first couple of minutes of the match see True North Ant, throwing around his much lighter opponent with his superior size and strength. The champion in undeterred by this and after taking a few stiff body slams, Faititli is able slip out the back door and use his speed to hit TNA with a series of chops, followed up with a spin heel kick, which knocks the ant out of the ring, looking for a breather. He doesn’t get that opportunity, as the Samoan leaps over the top rope with an impressive plancha.
When Faititili tosses TNA back in the ring. The ant begins to beg off in the corner. This proves only to be a trick, however, as True North Ant grabs him by the front of his trunks and pulls him face first into the middle turnbuckle. The big man, er, ant spends the next several minutes using his size and strength to wear his opponent down. He gets a near fall with a Bison Stampede slam, but wastes time after the kick out to argue with the referee, Jose Doe. This continues between the two as TNA sets up the Television Champion for the Red River Plunge. The temporary hesitation is all Faititili needs, as he counter the move with an hurricanrana and then follows up with a super kick. With less than a minute to go, Faititili ascends to the top rope and hit a flying splash for the three count and his first successful title defence.
Winner, and still PWGP Televison Champion: Faititli (2 points)
Once again the announcers question what the points mean and Carlyle wonders if the reason Faititli received two points might have something to do with his successful defence of the Television Title.
We don’t have much time to wonder about this, as True North Ant has gotten to his feet and is getting in the face of the masked referee, Jose Doe. Doe tells him he was simply doing his job, which doesn’t satisfy the last survivor of the Manitoba Ant Hill. True North Ant shoves Doe down and leaves the ring in frustration. The announcers suggest that perhaps TNA will face some stiff fines from the Buck U Sports Commission for his actions here tonight, before telling us that it’s time for another commercial break.
***
Back from break we see True North Ant strutting down the hall. Robert Fredrick approaches him and informs him, and everyone watching, he has been in contact with members of the Commission. Sure enough, TNA is being fined five thousand dollars for his actions and will be suspended for one week. True North Ant snorts and informs him that his backer will gladly pay the fine for him, before walking off, leaving Robert Fredrick looking angered.
We go down to ringside and Nick Christoulos starts making the ring introductions. To the surprise of no one, Eli Buchanan and Kraken chose to make their way down to the ring together, alongside their manager, Saul Asper. Greg Stradford point out that this match could very well favour these two, as they most certainly will work as a team. Paul Carlyle predicts that not only will one of these men be the winner tonight, but that these two will go into the Lethal Lottery as a team and one of them will walk out to Battle Bowl as Global Champion.
As Asper’s two clients enter the ring and remove their entrance gear, we’re told we have to go to one last commercial break before the main event begins.
***
Back from break and Bryant Adam Thompson standing at ringside, waiting for the last participant to be announced. Meanwhile, Eli Buchanan and Kraken stand impatiently in the ring. The crowd pops as Alan Hunter’s music hits and he emerges from the back. He and Thompson take one look at each other and nod their heads before sliding into the ring. Eli and Kraken try to grab them as the enter, but they duck under their arms towards the far side of the ring. They rebound and hit their opponents with stereo dropkicks.
Eli gets knocked down and rolls of out of the ring, but Kraken refuses to go down. Thompson and Hunter begin double teaming him with a series of stiff kicks, many of which the French Canadian Colossus somehow manages to fend off. The two men try to rebound off the ropes, but Eli grabs Hunter’s foot and drags him out of the ring. Meanwhile, Thompson eats a stiff clothesline from Kraken. Eli whips Alan Hunter into the barricade, back first, before rolling into the ring. He and Kraken high five one another and begin working over Thompson. Eli picks up Thompson, the smallest man in the match, in a reverse waist lock and easily lifts him up and hits a release German suplex. Kraken follows up with a suplex of his own and goes for the cover but Hunter breaks up the pin attempt with a sliding drop kick to the side of the big man’s head.
With the big man temporarily stunned this leaves only Hunter and Eli in the ring. The two of them exchange blows and for the next few minutes go move for move, with neither man getting the better of the other. Meanwhile outside the ring, Thompson has recovered and tossing a chair at Kraken to catch, hits him with a dropkick that smashes the chair into the Frenchman’s face. Neither man in the ring notices this, nor do they see him springboard into the ring before it’s too late and they’re both hit with a dropkick.
The crowd cheers, getting behind the Notorious B.A.T., as he uses his superior speed to take down Hunter and Buchanan with a series of head scissor takeovers and arm drags. Eventually Hunter is sent rolling out of the ring and Thompson hits a standing Shooting Star Press for a near fall on Eli Buchanan, only for him to kick out before three.
Thompson sees Kraken slowly getting to his feet. The big man grabs Hunter and grounds him with a forearm smash. He turns around to see too late Thompson flying at him with another dropkick. The momentum from the move causes him to trip over Hunter, who is on his hands and knees behind him, and he falls backwards with the back of his head hitting the corner of the ring steps.
With Kraken down again, hopefully for a while this time around, the two of them turn their attention to Eli Buchanan inside the ring. To his credit he manages to hold them off for a moment or two, catching Thompson with a belly-to-belly suplex and then Hunter with a German. The two of them eventually are two much for him to ward off on his own and he begins to succumb as they begin to use their speed and agility to their advantage. For the next couple of minutes the two of them try to put him away. Both men try to put him away with moonsaults, but he manages to kick out on both attempts.
The fans start to get behind Eli, impressed with his resilience. Realising they need to do something special to put Eli away and securing one of them the opportunity to name their own partner for the Lethal Lottery, they decide to take it to the next level. Alan Hunter hits another moonsault, which Bryant Adam Thompson immediately follows up with one of his own and goes for the cover. The crowd chants one, two with the referee, Andrew Roller’s count, but at the last second Hunter breaks up the count.
Thompson gets to his feet, incensed that Hunter would do this, but Hunter shrugs and it becomes obvious that he’s decide he wants the right to name his own partner, instead of allowing Thompson to have that honour. The two of them begin throwing fists at one another, with Hunter slowly getting the better of the exchange. Thompson is able to come back with a series of kicks though that leave Hunter dazed against the ropes. He charges in but Hunter ducks and Thompson tumbles out of the ring.
Eli’s back on his feet and tries to catch Hunter unawares with a running lariat clothesline. Hunter sees it coming and ducks it. He catches Eli with a stiff looking leg lariat and knocks Eli back to the mat. Seeing his opening, Hunter climbs to the top rope and goes for the Swanton Bomb, but Eli gets his knees up and Hunter catches them right between the shoulder blades and rolls out of the ring in pain. Eli is till down though and suddenly Bryant Adam Thompson leaps up on the top rope and goes for “The Bat Outta Hell” Phoenix Splash, but Eli manages rolls out of the way and Thompson crashes to the mat.
Alan Hunter tries to get into the ring, but the Agents of Pain and True North Ant suddenly arrive and they swarm him, which is met with an angry response from the crowd, while Saul Asper crows over his own genius. Back in the ring, Eli is getting to his feet and looks confused at what’s happening on the arena floor. He turns around to see Thompson getting to his feet, only for a bloodied Kraken to sideswipe him with a running shoulder. The French Canadian Colossus pulls Thompson to his feet and grabbing his right leg, hits a devastating leg trap chokeslam.
Greg Stradford is screaming his contempt for what we’re seeing here, clearly noting that this five star match was being ruined by Asper and his thugs. Paul Carlyle tells him to shut up and calls this plan brilliant because there’s no disqualifications in a fatal four way.
Kraken calls Eli over to make the pin. Still confused, Eli walks over. Kraken asks for a high five, but when Eli reciprocate, Kraken grabs him by the throat. Grabbing Eli’s legs, he lifts him up and drives him into the mat with a leg drop choke slam and to the shock of the announcers and the crowd goes for the three count.
Winner: Kraken (1 points)
The crowd begins to boo loudly as the referee, Andrew Roller, raises Kraken’s hand in victory and the announcers try to make sense of what just happened. Saul Asper enters the ring and shoves Roller aside and raises Kraken’s hand a second time before gesturing for him to leave with him. The two of them go up the entrance ramp and join True North Ant and the Agents of Pain, who are waiting for them.
Back in the ring, Eli Buchanan is slowly sitting up. Asper and his men laugh at him from the entrance way as he looks around, dazed. We’re left with the image of him sitting there being attended to by a ringside physician as Stradford and Carlyle sign off and tell us that next week Television Champion, Faititili will defend the title against the man he defeated to win the Buck U Cup, Paulie Rod, and they hoped to bring us more about what just happened.
Until next week… Good night, God bless and may the Force be with you.
