From the Forest City! Cleveland, Ohio! I'm Sam Hewitt and welcome to another edition of Wrestling from the Lion's Road! This is a very exciting program because tonight begins the Julian Cutlass Farewell Series! The Blazin' King, Mr. 448 has opted to sign with Maximum Japan Pro-Wrestling in seek of a new challenge, but before he rides off into the sunset... Cutlass has agreed to three final matches. Tonight... James Edwards looks to avenge a loss that took place three hundred and fifty days ago in this very building. Let's take a look...

Edwards chases down Cutlass, driving a knee into his gut. Cutlass drops to a knee and Edwards swings for a kick, but Cutlass ducks it... grabs Edwards in a rear waist hold and German suplexes his challenger into the corner turnbuckles! Edwards folds up but tries fighting his way back to his feet, the Blazin' King charges in looking for the Blazin' Kick but Edwards dives out of the way and the champion gets hung up on the ropes! Cutlass gets blasted by the Double Tap - two consecutive spinning back fists while he's hung up there. With the champion stunned, he half nelsons him... HALF CUT SUPLEX! Cutlass lands awkwardly and the fans roar as Edwards stands in the corner... waiting for the right moment... he charges... VIOLE-LARIATOH~! Cutlass leaps into Edwards and devastates him with a sickening lariat! Both men are down!

SAM HEWITT
The fans thought it was signed, sealed and delivered - the Violent Gospel was being spoken... but that sermon was interrupted by a lariat!

CHAD GOMEZ
And what a lariat!

SAM HEWITT
Absolutely - most of them you'll see the opponent is on a relatively equal footing, but Cutlass leapt up from the mat and delivered it. A lariat of the uppercutting variety, I wouldn't be surprised if Edwards was out cold!

Edwards isn't though, nor is Julian Cutlass. Both champion and challenger are equally spent as they groggily get to their feet, Edwards catches Cutlass with a knee then a second and grabs a front chancery. Cutlass uppercuts his way free and slaps on a Kimura! Edwards rolls forward in an attempt to break free and does, but finds himself in a side headlock instead! Edwards rolls onto his stomach, trying to get out of the hold... Cutlass hooks both of his arms and begins raining down knees! Fast at first, but slowing down... Edwards tries to fire up but Cutlass forces him back down and lights him up with some more knees! The Iron Champion gets up a third time, but Cutlass essentially pedigrees him into the mat and starts unloading the knees again! Edwards tries to fire up a fourth time, but can't do - the knees keep coming! Garner tells Edwards he's gotta defend, but Cutlass has the arms restrained and is making that a lot easier said than done! More knees come, more knees, Edwards tries a fifth time... but a knee cracks him and Garner has seen enough and waves it off! The crowd boos as Cutlass lets go, Edwards pulls away with blood streaming down from the top of his head.

SAM HEWITT
So that's our main event of the evening. We've also got AJ Knight taking on Justin Seville in a return bout from a few weeks ago, plus we'll have Eli Buchanan and David Troy each in a singles match. All of this and a whole lot more in the next sixty minutes! Right here on Wrestling from the Lion's Road!

Manson throws up the devil's horns.

BRADY ROSSEN
His opponent fighting out of Blackwood, New Jersey! He weighs in at two hundred and two pounds... DAVID TROY!

"Dynamite" does a quick wai kru dance.

BRADY ROSSEN
Your referee for this bout is Brian Shelzi!

Shelzi calls for the bell and the newcomer Michael Manson charges out of the corner, but "Dynamite" David Troy is alert and ducks the rush. Manson grunts as he gets nothing but turnbuckles and turns around, Troy readies himself for the next advance and again, ducks him with ease. Manson grabs the top rope and gives it a shake before pushing off of it. Manson swings at Troy but "Dynamite" drops to his knees to dodge it. Troy pops up and glances back...

THE FLASH BANG!

CHAD GOMEZ
OH!

The spinning back kick hits flush and Manson crumbles.

Shelzi tells Troy to back off while he counts, but you can count to one hundred because Michael Manson is out cold! The bell sounds, Troy gets his arms raised by Shelzi and exits the ring, slapping hands with some fans before heading back up the aisle.

SAM HEWITT
David Troy told us he was going to make a statement... and wow! What a statement he made! Knocking out newcomer Michael Manson is under a minute!

CHAD GOMEZ
He knocked him out! Right out the door! Hahaha!

SAM HEWITT
Fans, we've got to take a quick break but we've got lots more Lion's Road action from the Great Lakes! Don't go away!

We go backstage to where James Edwards is shown doing some prematch drills with Matt Pulver. The camera switches to Julian Cutlass, throwing some kicks to Jimmy Winner who's working the pads - each one landing with a thud. AJ Knight walks into the shot, forcing the production truck to halt the music. Cutlass lets loose one more kick, connecting with a satisfying smack which knocks the wind out of Jimmy sending him down.

AJ KNIGHT
Go easy on him Jules, you don't have time to break in a new one.

Cutlass chuckles.

JULIAN CUTLASS
Don't you have a match to prepare for?

AJ KNIGHT
Yeah, but I have some time yet, so I wanted to make a challenge. Next week... we've got a match, your last singles match as a part of the Lion's Road roster, so it could be the last time we fight for the foreseeable future. The last two times we fought one on one, we didn't have the ending we wanted. I didn't find it satisfying to win by points decision, and I know you would have preferred to leave me laying back in September. So I wanted to leave no questions this time. Two falls, Two submissions, or a knockout. What do you say?

Cutlass smiles.

JULIAN CUTLASS
I knew there was a reason you haven't seemed so annoying lately.

He nods.

JULIAN CUTLASS
Let's do it.

AJ holds his fist out, Cutlass bumps it as the shot fades out.

BRADY ROSSEN
Ladies and gentlemen, this next bout is to be fought over a fifteen minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner! Introducing first from Chicago, Illinois! He weighs in at one hundred and eighty five pounds! WALLACE!

Wallace bows to a chorus of boos.

BRADY ROSSEN
His opponent from Guelph, Ontario! He weighs in at two hundred and thirty five pounds! ELI BUCHANAN!

Buchanan nonchalantly adjusts hsi wrist tape.

BRADY ROSSEN
Your referee for this bout is Buster Powell!

Powell signals for the bell and Wallace walks out, being an annoying little shit - putting his thumbs in his ears and sticking his tongue out. Buchanan walks out from his corner and slaps Wallace so hard he falls to the mat. The Cleveland crowd erupts in HOLY SHIT chants as the Windy City Weirdo tries to stumble back to his feet. Buchanan grabs him and delivers an overhead belly to belly suplex! Wallace lands hard and lays on the mat for a few moments before attem--

BOMAYE~!

Buchanan doesn't even wait for Wallace to get up to where one would expect him to be when Buchanan goes for his signature knee strike. Powell asks if he's going to cover or if he wants the count, Buchanan puts a knee on Wallace's chest.

...

3!

Eli the Red gets up and Powell raises his arm in victory. Buchanan goes to leave but then turns back, grabs Wallace up off the mat and gets in his face.

ELI BUCHANAN
Get out of my profession!

Wallace is chucked out of the ring unceremoniously and the crowd roars in approval.

CHAD GOMEZ
Ah, Cleveland. They'll cheer anything.

SAM HEWITT
Eli Buchanan making a statement of his own tonight. Not happy with losing the tag titles, he requested a singles match here in Cleveland and makes very short work of this Windy City Weirdo fellow.

CHAD GOMEZ
And took great exception to that guy's clown show act.

SAM HEWITT

Darkness.

The sound of people socializing above a piano softly playing begins to fade in as darkness ascends. Dozens of well dressed men and women are talking and laughing as the music plays on. Suddenly the doors swing open and a hush falls over the crowd, murmurs begin about just who he is. Ben Chrenshaw smirks and confidently strides through the centre of the room, many of the women's eyes light up and follow him across the floor. Chrenshaw stops in the middle of the room, adjusts his cuff links and smirks as he looks around.

ANNOUNCER
When you wear a suit by Talais Ramses...

Chrenshaw stops a beautiful young woman standing alone. He walks up and simply offers his hand, to which she blushes and extends her hand as coy as possible. Chrenshaw pulls her in and the two begin to dance as Chrenshaw smirks.

ANNOUNCER
...you don't have to SAY anything at all.

The feed cuts to a hotel suite, whereabouts unknown. Sitting in a chair next to a glass table is a sharply dressed man with messy red hair, his face showing a few days of beard growth. He is delicately stirring a glass of lemon ginger tea with a spoon.

NICK “KNAVE” CHURCH
Hello Lion’s Road. My name is Nicholas Church. Some call me Knave. It is a name that was bestowed upon me by distinguished men of class and wealth. They called me this because of my business practices, because of the way that I conducted myself in their world.

Church sets the spoon down on an antique saucer.

NICK “KNAVE” CHURCH
Despite my success in their world, they never saw me as their colleague. They never saw me as one of them. For some time that bothered me. It made me work harder. But as my career progressed, as I rose in their ranks I realized that I did not want to be one of them. Although I knew I could conquer their world, I did not want to be a part of it.

He takes a small sip.

NICK “KNAVE” CHURCH
I lashed out. I brought violence to their doorstep and because of that I lost my freedom for a brief period. My time away from society only served to further the notion that I was not meant for that world. I was meant for something greater. I was meant for this world. I was raised by it, I was molded by it, and now I will be defined by it.

Church sets down the tea cup and smirks.

NICK “KNAVE” CHURCH
Know that I fully intend on attacking the world of professional wrestling with the same tenacity and intensity that I did the world of big business. I will rip and tear. I will scratch and claw. I will maim and destroy. I will become great by any means necessary. You are going to get one hundred percent of me. I assure you that you cannot handle it. None of you can. And all of you…

He scoffs.

NICK “KNAVE” CHURCH
You will all fall down.

The scene fades to black as Church sips his tea once more.

Knight raises his arm to AJ! AJ! AJ! chants.

BRADY ROSSEN
His opponent from Raleigh, North Carolina! He weighs in at two hundred and twenty four pounds... JUSTIN SEVILLE!

Seville grabs the ropes and stretches out.

BRADY ROSSEN
Your referee for this bout is Xavier Price!

Price asks both men if they're ready and the bell means that we're off! AJ and Seville circle around each other, talking some trash back and forth. We finally hit a boiling point when Seville spits at AJ and the fists start flying! AJ attempts to grab a side headlock as they bounce off and along the ropes, but Seville drops down and rolls out to the floor. The Serious one takes a walk while AJ steps out onto the apron and sits on the middle rope, inviting his opponent back inside. Seville tells Price to back him up so that he can back inside and after AJ obliges, Seville does indeed climb back inside the ring. The two lock-up, collar and elbow and jockey for position. Seville puts AJ back in the corner and begins punching away, AJ manages to wriggle free and pushes Seville down to the mat. Seville grabs the bottom rope to cause a break, but AJ keeps on him with punches - forcing Seville to roll out to the floor again.

SAM HEWITT
Seville seeking refuge on the floor, but he won't get it! AJ following him out!

AJ follows him out to the concrete floor, but Seville knees him in the gut and leads him toward the guardrail but AJ drives Seville into first! The crowd roars as Seville groans in pain, AJ pounds away on him as Seville tries to get away. Seville grabs a chair from the crowd and throws it, narrowly missing AJ. Knight goes back on the attack with forearm blows to the back, doubling Seville over! AJ grabs him and sends him over the guardrail into a row of chairs!

CHAD GOMEZ
Price is sure letting a lot go!

SAM HEWITT
It's a heated personal issue and Xavier Price is one of the best referees in this sport, I trust his judgment. He's going to let these guys duke it out to a reasonable degree.

AJ begins climbing over the guardrail, but Seville chucks a chair at him - a glancing blow! AJ topples back to ringside and Justin Seville climbs back over. He grabs AJ up and slams him into the guardrail again, Knight falls to his knees and tries to grab the top of the rail to pull himself back up but Seville pulls him by the hair away from the rails. He stuffs him between his legs and tries to lift AJ up, but the Crusader flails his legs wildly! Seville sets him back down and hammers a forearm into his back several times, dropping AJ to his knees. Seville wraps his arms around AJ's waist and hoists him up again...

SAM HEWITT
C'mon, Justin! Don't do it! Don't do it!

PILEDRIVER ONTO A CHAIR ON THE FLOOR!

SAM HEWITT
NO!

AJ rolls onto his side and grabs his head and neck, Price calls for the bell! Seville sits up, realizing he's been disqualified and chuckles. He gets to his feet and grabs AJ, punching him in the head several times as Price tries to intervene. Seville shoves Price aside and grabs AJ off the ground, chucking him into the ring. Price gets back up in Seville's face and warns him about fines for putting his hands on a referee, "Serious" Seville responds in kind.

JUSTIN SEVILLE
Then stay the fuck out of my way!

AJ crawls across the mat, bloodied up again and trying to figure out where he is. Seville grabs the middle rope and pulls himself into the ring, he goes over to his black denim jacket under the turnbuckles and retrieves a pair of brass knuckles! The crowd boos as he slips them on and holds them high into the air! Seville turns around and AJ punches him low! Seville falls to his knees, dropping the brass knuckles beside him as he writhes in pain from the low shot. AJ grabs his neck again, feeling the effects of the piledriver but then spots the brass knux. The crowd pops huge as he looks at them and then at the crowd, he grabs them and fights through the pain to slip them on his hand. He staggers to his feet, but falls back down to his knees. He grabs the top rope to help himself up. Seville meanwhile is feeling around for his brass knuckles, then gets up to his knees...

AJ TURNS AND SWINGS!

Seville ducks and rolls out of the ring, holding himself in pain. AJ falls to the mat and grabs the ropes, holding onto the middle rope. Feeling the opportunity to break this up, stage hands rush the ring and attend to AJ while some help Seville. Even Mandeville Nelson walks out to oversee the two men being escorted to the back.

SAM HEWITT
Well, as it stands - the official ruling is AJ Knight wins by disqualification. However, I can expect that both men will receive fines for their actions here this evening and I would imagine that this issue is far from over.

CHAD GOMEZ
You don't have to imagine that, Sambo - it isn't. Not by a long shot.

SAM HEWITT
We're going to take a quick break, get everything settled down here. After these messages, there will be a Throwback Thursday segment featuring the press conference between Cutlass and Edwards that led to the match we showed you at the top of our program. Don't go away!

THROWBACK THURSDAY
CUTLASS vs. EDWARDS
PRESS CONFERENCE
MARCH 2017

The media have assembled inside the Pollo Hall. A large Lion's Road poster featuring both the King of the Lions Champion Julian Cutlass and his next challenger Iron Champion James Edwards serves as a backdrop. A stage hand fixes a microphone and tests it before signalling to the back. Mandeville Nelson, the Board's Representative takes the stage and steps to the podium which has a cloth covered table on either side. One has a Cutlass nameplate while the other features an Edwards nameplate.

MANDEVILLE NELSON
Greetings from the Lion's Road! My name is Mandeville Nelson! Welcome to our contract signing for the upcoming King of the Lions Championship bout between champion Julian Cutlass and challenger James Edwards. This exciting bout will take place on Thursday, March 9th in Cleveland, Ohio. It will be the first King of the Lions title match to be contested under Iron Rules. Both fighters will be here momentarily to sign the contract and answer any questions you might have.

A side door to the conference room opens, and the flickers of shutters on cameras fill the air. James Edwards steps into view wearing a pair of tan slacks, a pressed white shirt, and a sharp navy blazer. The Iron Championship is strapped snuggly around his waist for practical reasons since he carries a black bag over his shoulder. His agent, Charlie Tilton, follows him into the room. She is wearing a light blue dress with a black sweater and looks nervous in comparison to her surprisingly calm client. Charlie heads straight for the podium while James sits down in his appointed spot. She takes a deep breath before speaking.

CHARLIE TILTON
Afternoon y'all. I'm Charlie Tilton, James' representation. He'll be taking questions himself here shortly but wanted me to handle the openin' remarks.

Charlie pulls a piece of paper out of her sweater pocket and places it on the podium.

CHARLIE TILTON
James is excited about this opportunity. He thinks he has worked hard to get to this point. He knows that his reign as Iron Champion has brought increased scrutiny to not only sport of professional wrestling, but Lion's Road as well. That is why this fight is so important to him. He wants to show the world what a great, clean fight looks like, and hopes that if he wins, it will start an honorable title reign that will make the fans, the company, and himself proud.

Charlie breathes another a sigh of relief and power walks away from center stage. She finds her seat next to James. He smiles at her. Charlie squeezes his shoulder and whispers something in his ear. James bites his lip to keep from cursing and a moment later pulls the Iron Championship off and places it on the table.

When Julian Cutlass emerges from the backstage, the response is always volcanic. From the buzz of the shutters, the security guard awakening from apathy and boredom, to the hustling reporters stretching out their arms to be the first to ask a question as though they were trying to touch the face of God – when the champion shows up, it becomes a totally different room.

He walks unaccompanied. No managers, no girlfriends, no girlfriend-managers. His only companion is the King of Lions title resting on his shoulder. In his free hand he holds a bento box. The hood’s up on his BLACK Lion’s Road sweatshirt. He wears a pair of black-rimmed glasses – whose gonna be the motivated journalist to ask him about his corrective lenses? Between the specs, the sweats, and the grizzled salt-and-pepper permafrost that constitutes his beard, he has the aura of a dishevelled jazz musician.

He sets up the King of Lions title next to the nameplate on his table and opens up the bento. He savors the aroma and sits down. From his sweatshirt pocket he unveils a pair of chopsticks. All eyes are upon him. And he pops a piece of broccoli into his mouth. He turns his head to Mandeville Nelson.

JULIAN CUTLASS
You want me to say something?

He’s still chewing and doesn’t wait for a response. He surveys the press pool and then leans across the table, glancing over at James Edwards’ side of the house. With his chopsticks he points at the Iron title.

JULIAN CUTLASS
The fuck is that thing doing here? Are you putting it up for grabs or something? Is that why we’re fighting under Iron rules?

He shrugs off the confusion.

JULIAN CUTLASS
If not, that’s pretty slick maneuvering, Jim. Of course, to be truthful, it’s only gonna hold you back. And that’s pretty disappointing if I don’t get fight you at your max potential.

He digs around in the bento for few moments before downing a piece of fish. The reporters sit stunned, mesmerized... and watch Julian Cutlass eat. Edwards doesn't wait too long to reply while the King of Lions paws at fish. He angles in his chair and faces Cutlass at an awkward angle.

JAMES EDWARDS
I brought the belt because he told me to.

James nods towards the nervous looking Nelson, who seems to be on the verge of a stroke due to his inability to successfully conduct the press conference.

JAMES EDWARDS
It wasn't my idea to fight this thing under Iron Rules anyways. Can't say I like the idea either. If I beat you, I sure as hell don't want it to be by a points decision or get screwed by the bell like you did against Pulver. You wanna do this like a real fight, fine by me. No rounds, no points, and no time limit. Only way to win his by pin, submission, knockout, or count out. Deal?

Cutlass laughs and shakes his head.

JULIAN CUTLASS
Man, you just don’t get it.

The buzz throughout the press pool heightens.

JULIAN CUTLASS
I couldn’t care less about the Iron rules. We can have an eating contest for all I care, I’ll even let you catch up.

He holds a battered piece of shrimp tempura in his chopsticks.

JULIAN CUTLASS
The problem here is that you ain’t got nothing on the line, and that makes you less of a competitor for me. Here you get an opportunity to test the waters against this promotion’s finest, but in the back of your mind you know that if worst comes to worst, you can always run back to the Iron division where you get to kick around bulimic girls and various nobodies while you strut around with that piece of jewellery.

He still leans over his table and points to Mandeville Nelson with the chopsticks, that battered shrimp dangling still in his clutches.

JULIAN CUTLASS
Don’t blame, Mandy. Own your fucking actions. Everyone in this room can tell you love being a champion. Damn near every show you’re out there posing for the camera, moaning about ‘the weight’ of the Iron title. You gotta let everyone know that Lion’s Road let’s you carry around it’s jewellery.

Cutlass rolls his eyes and finally scarfs down the shrimp tempura.

JULIAN CUTLASS
And hey, for the record, I didn’t get screwed by the bell with Pulver. Matt Pulver is a fucking ace of spades and we tore it up out there. He could easily have been sitting here today, so I’m not gonna let you knock him down like that.

Julian glances at the King of Lions championship that rests so patiently on the table.

JULIAN CUTLASS
If the Iron title gives you so much grief, you ought to rethink signing that contract. Being a champion isn't about you. It's your opponents, your allies, your rivals… they’re the ones who make it all worthwhile. The King of Lions fights the best there is. And like I said, right now you’re not at your max.

His eyes narrow.

JULIAN CUTLASS
You need to let go.

The audience is stunned into silence. The press murmurs at the spectacle before them. They have questions they’d like to ask for their weekend columns or their next blog post, but who could ask for a better story than the one currently unfurling before them. Edwards coolly looks at his title and then at Cutlass. He weighs his words carefully...

JAMES EDWARDS
Fuck you.

The press pool stop tweeting, scribbling, and typing. Charlie looks like she wants to kill James. Cutlass just smirks him. James leans forward into the microphone and repeats himself.

JAMES EDWARDS
Fuck you. Fuck you for talkin' down to me. Fuck you for mockin' me when you ain't had to go through half the shit I have since I got this belt. Fuck you for insultin' good fighters and a good division. I don't have to give up a damn thing. I earned my title shot.

Edwards picks his bag up off the floor, unzips it, and deposits the belt in it. The reporters in the press pool turn their heads in unison to gauge Julian’s reaction. He smirks and from his hoodie pocket pulls out of a bottle of water… and he takes a long gulp before wiping his chin. He reaches over and lifts the King of Lions title high into the air. The camera shutters start up again. The smirk disappears. He becomes somber.

Daniels… Chrenshaw… Hammerstein… Pulver… in no world do the likes of A.J. Knight or Sarah Starr compare against those who I’ve defeated challenging for this belt. I hate to break it to you, but the world ain’t flat.

He throws the title over his shoulder.

JULIAN CUTLASS
Don’t lie and pretend that anyone in the Iron division has challenged you yet. You’ve done the young fighters a service by showing them where they are weak. If they have the desire, they’ll improve themselves. That's how the process works, Jim.

He draws back the hood. His head is freshly shaved. He seems more gaunt than usual. His face thinner, his eyes more… blue.

JULIAN CUTLASS
And now you need someone to reveal your weaknesses.

When he stands to his feet his jeans seem more relaxed around his thighs come to think of it.

JULIAN CUTLASS
I know you’re searching for a way to become better.

He stares off into the distance into some unseen realm.

JULIAN CUTLASS
Well, I’ll save you the trouble. No one can help you. You can't train your way out of this one. You’re not prepared to do what it takes to reach the next level.

He walks over to the podium, taking the bento box with him. He sits it atop the podium. Picks up then pen. He glances over to James Edwards.

JULIAN CUTLASS
To become the man you want to be, you have to leave behind the man that you are.

He doesn’t even wait for the challenger as he pistol whips his name on the contract and sets down the pen on the other side of the podium. James watches Julian the entire time. His focus is eerie. He calmly gets out of his seat and approaches the podium without a word. Cutlass doesn't meet his gaze. Instead, the champion toys with his last piece of shrimp. The challenger's concentration remains resolute as he scribbles his name on the document, making the title fight in Cleveland official. Despite the tension in the air, Edwards offers Cutlass his hand. All he gets is a smirk. Julian picks up the piece of shrimp but in the blink of an eye. Edwards grabs it out the eating utensils from the Far East. Edwards holds his crustaceous conquest between his point finger and thumb. Nelson gawks at the scene unfolding in front of him and gulps. Charlie rises out her seat, ready to pull James away if need be. Cutlass, well now the Iron Champion has his attention. No one in the room knows if it is out of shock or anger that Edwards ruined one of his favorite meals, but he strides forward. James casually tosses the shrimp over his shoulder and stands his ground. Soon he and the champion are standing nose to nose. Each silently daring the other to make a move, but then security hits the stage and gets in between the two. Mandy Nelson seizes the podium, his face having taken on the same hue as Dracula's.

Okay! Okay... I do believe it is time for these two to call it an evening! I do apologize if you did not get to ask a question - I will see that each of these men answers a few of them through our website! Thank you for coming out! We will see you this Thursday in Sandusky, and two weeks time in Cleveland for this big championship bout between Julian Cutlass and James Edwards!

Security whisks champion and challenger off in opposite directions as stage hands come out to clean up the stage area.

BRADY ROSSEN
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your main event of the evening! It is to be fought over television time remaining with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner!

Big pop.

"OKAY"

Highly Suspect's "My Name is Human" begins and the newly crowned World Tag Team Champion walks out, Matt Pulver backing him up. James Edwards takes a few moments surveying everything before him. Pulver pats him on the shoulder after Edwards' hood goes down and the World Tag Team Champions make their way down to the ring. Edwards' eyes remain fixated on the ring, even as he laps around it. He climbs up inside and does four quick martial arts bows to all sides. The stone-grooved rhythm of “Columbia” by Oasis causes that big pop to get even bigger as the Blazin' King emerges from the back clad in a blue, hooded robe. The crowd somehow gets louder as he marches toward the ring with his relaxed, assured confidence. Jimmy Winner grabs the robe as Cutlass chucks it aside before climbing the steps and ducking underneath the top rope to enter the ring. He stretches his legs and throws a few punches before standing in his corner in wait.

BRADY ROSSEN
In the red corner from Lexington, Kentucky! He weighs in at two hundred and four pounds! He is the 2016 Iron Road winner, a former Iron Champion, a former Heritage Champion and currently one half of the World Tag Team Champions. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the BURNING HEART... JAMES EDWARDS!

Edwards bows as Pulver applauds him from the apron.

BRADY ROSSEN
In the blue corner fighting out of Vancouver, British Columbia! He weighs in at one hundred and nineteen pounds! He is a former World Tag Team Champion, the 2017 Laurentide Cup winner, a two time King of Lions and the longest reigning champion in Lion's Road history. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. 448... the BLAZIN' KING... JULIAN CUTLASS!

Cutlass shadow boxes as streamers fill the ring.

BRADY ROSSEN
Your referee for this bout is Cordell Garner!

Edwards jumps Cutlass before the bell! Forearm shots back Mr. 448 up, but the former King of Lions recovers and blasts the Burning Heart with return fire! Cutlass! Edwards! Cutlass! Edwards! Cutlass! EDWARDS WITH A SLAP! He follows it up with a palm strike that knocks Cutlass back into the corner then levels him with a second for good measure. Garner begins the five count while Edwards tees off with alternate left and right palm strikes! He breaks at four but hits Cutlass with a kick to the chest that knocks him on his ass! Garner tries to step in, but Edwards shoves him aside and knees Cutlass in the face! He pulls the Blazin' King out of the corner and up to his feet, then throws an arm over... but Cutlass blocks the suplex attempt and punches Edwards in the side. He breaks loose and nails him with a forearm shot, Edwards stumbles and doubles over allowing the Blazin' King to back up and spring off the ropes.

SAM HEWITT
Cutlass comes off the ropes, looking for a lar-Edwards with the abisegiri!

Indeed, Edwards drops Cutlass with a rolling koppu kick. Or as he calls it, the Pole Shift. He makes a quick cover!

KICK OUT!

Edwards leads Cutlass back to a vertical base and headbutts him, Cutlass falls to a knee and the Burning Heart is forced to halt his offense to shake off the effects of the blow. Cutlass uses this chance to turn the tables and leaps into a Mongolian chop! Edwards drops to a knee himself, but the Blazin' King grabs him and throws him into the corner where he begins lighting up his chest with kicks! Edwards begins to fall into a seated position but Cutlass grabs him by the wrist, yanking him up and then pivots.

EXPLODER SUPLEX INTO THE CORNER!

CHAD GOMEZ
He just threw him like a bag of trash!

SAM HEWITT
And as you can see, there is cause for concern as Cordell Garner steps in. Edwards hit the corner padding and then hit the mat, not unlike a piledriver. Edwards hasn't moved since the impact...

Garner tells Cutlass to back up, then checks on Edwards. The Burning Heart slowly gets to his knees, Edwards eats several kicks to the chest and falls onto all fours. The crowd comes alive as Cutlass hooks the arms and tries to muscle Edwards to the mat for the very same move that ended their previous match. Edwards fights it as best he can and manages to win the strength battle as he back body drops Cutlass and bridges!

CUTLASS KICKS OUT AND TURNS IT BACK OVER!

CHAD GOMEZ
Air control better alert Edwards, there's a knee coming in fast!

KNEE!

Edwards absorbs it and pushes through, driving Cutlass into the corner! Cutlass lets go of the hooks and Edwards begins the alternating left and right slaps to the face, then drives a knee into Cutlass' stomach. Mr. 448 staggers forward, Edwards hooks him up...

FOXFIRE!

He rolls over for a lateral press after the fisherman buster!

NO!

Both men are slow to their feet after that exchange, but with Cutlass on his knees as Edwards gets up... the World Tag Champ rushes to the ropes and rebounds off...

RIGHT INTO A BLAZIN' KICK!

Edwards is spun around...

DANGEROUS BACK DROP SUPLEX!

HE HOLDS IT!

SAM HEWITT
The signature Blazin' King and a dangerous looking backdrop suplex... is not enough to keep the Burning Heart down!

Cutlass rolls Edwards onto his stomach and begins hooking the closest arm, Edwards senses what's about to happen and trips Cutlass up. The Tag Champ gets up and double stomps Cutlass in the chest before rolling through. He gets up in the corner and waits...

Cutlass sits up.

VIOLENT GOS-

NO! Cutlass drops back down, able to seeing it coming. Edwards stops in his tracks and delivers a spin kick to the back of Cutlass' head as he sits back up!

CUTLASS GOES DOWN!

Edwards is pushed back into the corner as Garner checks on Mr. 448, then stands up and begins the knockout count.

Cutlass rolls onto his stomach.

He gets to his hands and knees and looks up at Edwards, he takes a hand off the mat meaning he's fair game and Edwards nails him with...

A BLAZIN' KICK!

He covers!

NO!

FOOT ON THE ROPE!

Edwards grabs his head in disbelief and smacks the mat, Matt Pulver yells at him to keep his cool. Edwards smacks the mat a couple more times before getting to his feet, Cutlass groggily tries to get back up...

CHAD GOMEZ
Can you imagine if James Edwards was finally able to overcome Julian Cutlass by using his own move? I'd retire, I'd get sick of hearing him half-brag, half-whine about it.

SAM HEWITT
It'd be a monumental moment in Lion's Road for sure.

Edwards grabs Cutlass and pulls him up, Cutlass fires a leg kick at the wounded knee! Edwards cusses as he falls to a knee, Cutlass waylays him with a Mongolian chop that drops him to all fours. Once more, Cutlass tries to hook the arms... Edwards lifts him up again...

BUT HIS LEG BUCKLES!

Cutlass lands awkwardly, Edwards goes down holding his leg. Cutlass' chest heaves heavily as he looks up to the lights, Garner checks both men over and begins the ten count.

Edwards realizes he may not have the strength to get up and dives on top of Cutlass to avoid a situation like he experienced vs. Eli Buchanan.

CUTLASS KICKS OUT!

Pulver yells "stay calm" and Edwards rolls off, grumbling to himself as he grabs the ropes. Cutlass rolls onto his side and starts up to his feet, seeing Edwards with his back to him. Cutlass sneaks up and clamps on a rear naked choke! Edwards tries to grab the ropes but Cutlass pulls him away and hops onto his back, sinking in the hooks! Edwards grunts as he falls to the mat, his leg giving out on him under both of their weights. They land uncomfortably on their sides, Cutlass' grip loosens a bit and Edwards breaks free and tries to create some distance while catching his breath. Cutlass pulls himself into the corner and watches Edwards. The Burning Heart sees where Cutlass is at out of the corner of his eye and fights to his feet. He goes hand over hand along the ropes to get to Cutlass and begins stomping away on him. Cutlass kicks the bad leg of Edwards and the Burning Heart tumbles down, Cutlass grabs the top rope and pulls himself up...

POLE SHIFT!

The abisegiri strikes again! Edwards howls in pain, Pulver checks on him and tells him Dr. Pierson is coming. Edwards spouts, "tell him to fuck off!" between grunts. Pulver gets in Dr. Pierson's face and tells him Edwards is good! A-OK! Pierson gets in the ring despite this and checks on Edwards while Cutlass is rattled in the corner.

CHAD GOMEZ
Look at this - I think Cutlass is out! Can we get a replay!?

SAM HEWITT
He took a hard shot from the abisegiri. Everything Edwards had left behind it, but at what cost? Dr. Pierson is inside the ring, he's checking Edwards out - that leg hasn't been 100% for over a month. AJ Knight did a number on it and it's only been exasperated since then. This match might be over...

Pierson does a few quick tests with the leg, straightening it and bending it ever so slightly. Edwards does his best to hide his discomfort, but Pierson notices it - Pulver tries to sway the doctor's opinion but he signals to Garner to end the match! The boos resonate throughout the venue and turn into "LET THEM FIGHT!" chants. Edwards is visibly pissed, repeatedly saying "it's bullshit!" as Pulver tries to calm him down. Winner attends to Cutlass, who's a bit wobbly to his feet.

SAM HEWITT
Normally in these circumstances - a doctor stoppage - the winning fighter is asked if they accept the victory or they'll decline it and rule this match a no contest. However, I don't think Cutlass is in any position to make a decision right now. Chad, you may have been right on the money with your knockout call. Let's take a look.

The abisegiri slams Edwards' leg down across the side of Cutlass' head and into his shoulder and sends him into the turnbuckles with a thud - looking even worse in slow motion. Cutlass goes down and doesn't move, but Edwards' face tells viewers that Dr. Pierson may have made the right call.

SAM HEWITT
It's tough to say - Cutlass would've had to answer a ten count regardless, but the doctor check put a halt to the match and unfortunately ended it. I say unfortunately because it was a very entertaining bout, but fighter safety is number one and if the ruling is that James Edwards can't continue then we have to accept that.

CHAD GOMEZ
Tell that to Edwards.

SAM HEWITT
No thanks.

Pulver tries to help Edwards off the apron, but the Burning Heart is stubborn as usual and tells him he can walk. Edwards limps up the aisle, a look etched upon his face that says... this is only the beginning. Winner and Cutlass stand up outside the ring after Edwards has left and the Cleveland crowd roars its approval of the ace of Lion's Road, who raises an arm to acknowledge them as the show closes.
