Alexander Irvine is shown backstage, sparring with one of Wes Chubbman's hired goons in preparation for tonight's main event. Irvine sports a "Barbarian King" hoodie and ring attire, the title belt hangs on a towel hook behind him. Actually, sparring is being kind - 'Borderline Assault' is a more fitting commentary and story the man's sweaty, bloody face tells it. AJ Knight struts into frame and watches with interest before you guessed it, opening his mouth.

AJ KNIGHT
There you are, champ. You're a hard man to find - I had to follow the old person scent.

AJ's snarky remark is catches Irvine's attention, causing him to cease his barrage upon his training partner, who seems to be thanking merciful god. Irvine's back however remains to the Millennial Knight.

AJ KNIGHT
Oh, don't mind me I just wanted to see how a "king" prepares for a championship match.

Irvine turns with a smirk on his face, just in time to what as AJ accompanies the word king with the air quotes his delivery would imply, the King of the Lions turns to face the invader of his locker room with a smirk disappearing upon his face, but stares daggers at AJ.

ALEXANDER IRVINE
And just what the hell do you mean by that?

AJ's smirk widens.

AJ KNIGHT
Oh nothing, I just find it hard to believe how long it's been since we had a real king...

Irvine walks over to AJ so that the two men stand eye to eye with one another, Irvine's hot breath smothering AJ, even though he doesn't turn away, lockers surround the two men.

ALEXANDER IRVINE
And who would that be AJ.

AJ still smirking, waves a hand in front of his face.

AJ KNIGHT
The only thing worse then listening to you is your breath.

He stops waving, but is still smirking. The training partner of Irvine sneaks his way out the door, he can be seen waving for help as the door slowly closes behind him.

AJ KNIGHT
We both know the real king is...

Irvine doesn't wait for him to finish, as to catch him off guard as he throws his arms forward, slamming AJ with all of his strength and weight as he moves forward with his push. The smacking of his hands on Knights chest is deafened only by the sound of AJ's back slamming into the lockers behind him.

ALEXANDER IRVINE
Grow the fuck up!

Security pours into the room and sees Irvine's face engulfed in rage, his mouth spraying venom as the pour between the two men. AJ fights to free himself and strike Irvine in return, but security keeps him held back.

ALEXANDER IRVINE
You will NEVER be an ace of Lion's Road. You'll never escape your Millennial Knight bullshit because it's who you are - a generation that lives in the past, beaten down by the accomplishments of those greater than you before you even start. You'll never be the ace you claim to be because you're not allowed a fucking vote, AJ!

AJ raises his hands as if he's calm, the guards back off from him only for him to leap through them and nail Alexander Irvine in the face with lunging straight right punch. As it connects the sounds of flesh hitting flesh permeates the room, but the guards manage to get control of him and pull him back. Men check on Irvine and he pushes the away, blood pours from his nose and stain his teeth as he smiles towards Knight.

ALEXANDER IRVINE
No matter what, AJ. You know I'm right! You've got to learn to let go!

Irvine points to his title and smiles.

ALEXANDER IRVINE
The King is dead, motherfucker. Long live the Tyrant!

The guards open the door and push Knight out the door, insults and obscenities fly out of both men's mouths. Once the door closes a few stay back to check on Irvine as a doc is called. Irvine pushes them away and takes a seat in one of the metal chairs in the rooms as he spits blood upon the ground.

SAM HEWITT
From the Garden City! St. Kitts - St. Catharines! Hello grappling fans, I'm Sam Hewitt and tonight we've got a spectacular program for you as usual. It will be headlined by two big title bouts - the first will see Derek Draven put up the coveted strap known as the Heritage Heavyweight title against former champion Alex Kincaid. In our main event, the King of Lions Championship will be up for grabs as champion Alexander Irvine attempts to avenge his non title loss from January when he squares off with James Edwards. We've also got a match on standby - Ben Chrenshaw and AJ Knight teaming up against an unlikely pairing of Matt Pulver and Justin Seville. At this time however, I'd like to take a moment to recognize a new addition to the broadcast booth.

A familiar face steps into frame.

SAM HEWITT
If you don't recognize him, this is Brian Shelzi. He's a former wrestler in his own right, spent time as a manager and most recently handled referee duties here in Lion's Road. Hello Brian and welcome.

Shelzi shakes Sam's hand.

BRIAN SHELZI
Thank you, Sam.

SAM HEWITT
Brian will be taking Chad Gomez's place at the broadcast booth. Not to worry though, Chad remains in Lion's Road - he has voluntarily given up his spot in the booth to Brian to take a position as a correspondent and will be a regular part of our news team. If you've followed Chad in his career, you'll know his true passion is writing. That being said, I've enjoyed by year and some alongside you, Gopher. Thank you for making us laugh.

Shelzi takes a seat.

BRIAN SHELZI
You didn't have to twist my arm too much to get me in here and chat about wrestling. Obviously I've been in the middle of some of the bouts here in Lion's Road and I think the Great Lakes area sees some of the best wrestling in the world. I'm happy to be able to get the best seat in the house and not have to worry about getting struck by someone who doesn't like my calls. You won't hit me, will you Sam?

Hewitt chuckles.

Ladies and gentlemen, this Heritage Heavyweight title bout is to be fought over a fifteen minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner! Introducing the challenger! Fighting out of the Platinum Coast! He weighs in at two hundred and forty pounds... ALEX KINCAID!

Kincaid pounds his chest and shouts something inaudible to the crowd, receiving quite the cheer in response.

BRIAN SHELZI
He just told them he hasn't brushed his teeth since arriving here, they've accepted him as a St. Kittsman.

BRADY ROSSEN
Introducing the champion! From Albany, New York! He weighs in at two hundred and twenty pounds! Attempting to make his first defense of the Heritage Heavyweight Championship... DEREK DRAVEN!

Draven hands over the title belt then does a couple squats.

BRADY ROSSEN
Your referee for this bout is Xavier Price!

Price makes his way over to Alex Kincaid. The Heritage Heavyweight Champion blows past Price, knocking him aside in an attempt to ambush Alex Kincaid... but the Bullet King dodges the attack! Draven hits the turnbuckles and Kincaid grabs a hold of him, backing him into the ropes. He tries to Irish whip him out, but Draven reverses it into his favour - Draven drops down looking to trip Kincaid on the rebound but the former champion hangs onto the ropes! Kincaid ditches the usual theatrics and tries to drop the Right There Elbow on him, but the champion gets out of harm's way! Draven slinks over to a corner as Kincaid rolls onto his side and back up to his feet.

BRIAN SHELZI
You know, Sam - I've heard Derek Draven be called the most dangerous man in the first few seconds of a match. Attacking someone before the bell is not one hundred percent ethical, but he's shown time and time again that it's effective. It throws even the most prepared fighter off his game. Kudos to Kincaid for paying attention to the tapes, he scouted that perfectly and managed to avoid an attack that has left many reeling and unable to recover from.

SAM HEWITT
It's a match that means a lot to Kincaid. He sought to redeem himself coming back to the Great Lakes area late last year and I'd say he did that tenfold by winning the Heritage Cup. A win over Kincaid, a tapout win over Matt Pulver and then in the finals, beating James Edwards to win not only the Heritage Cup but the Heritage Heavyweight title also. It was a great comeback story, the type that you tell your kids about... but Derek Draven stole that away when he used a low blow to counter the Llewellyn Lift and won the belt in Kincaid's first defense. There's no time for games - as evidenced by Kincaid tucking away the usual theatrics behind the Right There elbow drop.

Draven and Kincaid circle around then lock-up, Kincaid's size advantage comes into play as he easily backs Draven up into the corner. An elbow to the head is Kincaid's reponse to Price's request for a clean break, Price begins to give him a verbal warning but Draven strikes back with a headbutt! The challenger gets stunned by the shot, falling back into the ropes. Price tries to intervene, but Kincaid eats two headbutts before Xavier Price can push Draven away. Price begins his count on Kincaid, reaching only two before the Canadian stands up straight. He checks his face for blood, rubbing the area affected by the headbutt. The two men circle around, a lock-up takes place and once more, Kincaid uses his size advantage to do a quick go behind. Draven gets lifted off his feet with a rear waist hold and knows what to expect from that, so he locks his leg around Kincaid's front leg. The Bullet King releases the waist hold and clubs the back of Draven's head with repeated elbow strikes that knock him to his knees. Kincaid looks out to the Canadian crowd in full support of him and slaps Draven in the head! The Champion covers up, thinking another shot is coming but Kincaid charges across the ring into the ropes and comes back with a low dropkick!

SAM HEWITT
And Draven goes down! The dropkick from Kincaid sending the champion rolling out of the ring and to the floor. It was Draven's momentum that sent him out there, not Kincaid so no yellow card will be given on that particular play.

Kincaid listens to Price's request this time, telling him to stay back. Price exits the ring and quickly checks on Draven, then rolls back inside. He begins the ten count as Kincaid paces back and forth inside the ring, Draven grabs the middle rope at three and pulls himself up. Kincaid stays back, giving him all the room in the world but a smirk forms on Draven's lips as he slips back down off the apron. Kincaid ain't playing no games though! He reaches over the ropes and grabs Draven by his hair, forcing him to come back up onto the apron. Price begins his five count, telling Kincaid to let go and he does... at four! Draven grabs him and smashes his skull into Kincaid's dome once again! The challenger drops to his knees, Draven climbs inside and applies a front chancery and drags Kincaid into the middle of the ring. The crowd starts off with a mild chant, but quickly work themselves up.

KIN-CAID!

*CLAP CLAP*

KIN-CAID!

*CLAP CLAP*

KIN-CAID!

*CLAP CLAP*

The Bullet King feeds off the energy, hoisting Draven off his feet and driving him back first into the turnbuckles! Kincaid blasts him with an elbow to the face, then drags him away from the corner and scoops him up... then plows him right down into the mat with a front powerslam! Kincaid makes an unintentional pin as he tries to catch his breath.

2-KICK OUT!

Kincaid pushes off of him to stand up and boots him in the face before leaping up, then coming down with a Right There elbow! He quickly stands up and delivers a second... then gets up, looks around and points down...

"RIGHT!"

He leaps up and comes down with his third elbow drop, the fans completing the "THERE" portion of it. He hooks the leg on the very intentional cover this time.

NO!

Draven kicks out, Kincaid grabs Draven by his hair and yanks him to his feet. As Price pulls out a yellow card, Draven trips him up and takes him down!

BRADY ROSSEN
Referee Xavier Price has issued a yellow card to Alex Kincaid for pulling the hair! His first public warning!

Draven hops into side control and begins punching away on the challenger, battering him with shots. As Kincaid grabs a hold of his wrist, Draven slams his head into the Bullet King to free himself up again. Kincaid rolls onto his side, Draven clamps on a front chancery and grabs Kincaid's right arm. By the looks of it, he's looking for a swinging neckbreaker... but Kincaid powers up again and delivers a back body drop! Kincaid falls to his knees as Draven sits up, holding his back in pain. He quickly recovers and leaps onto Kincaid's back, pummelling him with shots to the head. He clamps on a rear naked choke and rolls onto his own back, hooks in! Kincaid's eyes begin bulging out of his head as Draven squeezes, the Bullet King turns to grab the ropes that are within reach but Draven rocks him the other way!

Kincaid reaches up, trying to grab the hand of Draven...

Draven slaps it away, but Kincaid uses that brief disconnect of the hold to roll back the other way!

SAM HEWITT
He gets the ropes! A great little ploy by Kincaid, whether intentional or not - trying to grab Draven's hand and opening up an opportunity for himself out of it.

BRIAN SHELZI
Looked very intentional to me. Sometimes you neglect basic sensibilities when brutality is on your mind, Draven should've let Kincaid struggle right into a technical submission loss.

Draven gets up, drags Kincaid to his feet but eats a knee to the gut before he can execute his own attack. Draven drops to a knee, Kincaid delivers a knee lift that would make Mr. Wrestling proud! Draven goes down, Kincaid staggers and falls against the ropes. Price begins his ten count on both men.

5... Kincaid gets up and starts toward Draven, but Price backs him up.

6...

The count hits seven, but it should be nine - Kincaid's distraction of Price disrupted the count. Draven gets up, Kincaid grabs him in a front chancery and hoists him up for a vertical suplex! Kincaid holds him there... five seconds... ten seconds... fifteen seconds...

THEN DROPS HIM! VERTICAL SUPLEX SLAM!

BRIAN SHELZI
That must be the Over Easy! He was telling me about that in the back earlier today... wow.

Kincaid wore himself out doing the extended stalling suplex sequence and lays on the mat, looking at the lights. Price's count hits two of ten and Kincaid pops up and covers Draven!

NO!

Price waves it off! Draven's foot is on the bottom rope! Kincaid's face says it all! A replay is shown...

SAM HEWITT
Wow... look at that. Price counted three, but noticed the foot as his hand was hitting the mat and waved off the call. That's why he's one of the best, folks.

BRIAN SHELZI
He might be one of the best, but he's not winning any popularity contests with the fans this evening. This place came unglued, then had the energy sucked right out of them. Kind of like coming down on Christmas morning to find you've been robbed.

SAM HEWITT
I guess you're speaking from experience?

BRIAN SHELZI
No, I've never robbed anyone.

Draven rolls onto his stomach and fights to his feet, Kincaid grabs his arm and slings him forward.... Draven ducks the lariat!

NECKBREAKER!

Draven hits it and struggles to turn over, Kincaid lays on the mat motionless after the impact. The fans are pleading with Kincaid to get up, Draven manages to turn over and drapes an arm on Kincaid.

Kincaid rolls onto his side to kick out. Draven grabs him and climbs to his feet, dragging Kincaid along with him. The Pariah goes for something, but Kincaid pushes him! Draven responds in kind with a headbutt, then a couple palm strikes to send the challenger into the corner. Price steps in and begins his count as Draven unloads with headbutts, driving Kincaid to the mat and knocking himself loopy. Draven turns and crawls across the ring to the opposite corner, Kincaid is bloodied up. Price begins the count.

Price ceases Draven's count as he stands up free of assistance.

The St. Catharines crowd is LOUD in its support for Kincaid.

HE'S UP!

Draven angrily walks over and hoofs him in the gut, pulling him in for a piledriver. Kincaid fights it, so Draven pushes him away and kicks him in the chest. Kincaid pops up... Draven spins...

DISCUS LAR-

NO!

Kincaid ducks it! He grabs Draven in a rear waist hold, looking for the Llewellyn Lift! Draven tries to separate his hands, but Kincaid has it locked in tight!

Draven goes for a low blow!

HE SIDE STEPS!

Draven turns, Kincaid kicks him in the gut!

HE SCOOPS HIM ONTO HIS SHOULDERS!

DRAVEN RAKES THE EYES AND WRIGGLES FREE!

Price raises a yellow card as the champion kicks Kincaid in the back of the leg, knocking him down to a knee. Draven applies an inverted chancery, then grabs the tights... lifting him up...

AND OVER?!

OSAKA STREET CUTTER!

He covers!

...

3-FOOT ON THE ROPE!

Draven grabs Kincaid and drags him into the centre of the ring. He takes Kincaid's left arm and wraps it around his neck, grasping his own hands together and tightening the grip! Kincaid's arm goes up... he's reaching for the ropes...

he lifts as though he's going to tap... the crowd pleads with him!

PLEASE DON' TAP! PLEASE DON'T TAP!

Kincaid tries to slide his foot closer to the bottom rope - within reach - choking himself even worse in the process. He swings it up...

KINCAID PULLS BACK INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE RING!

PRICE WAVES HIS ARMS!

The bell sounds, but Draven won't release the hold! The ring crew files in and Draven lets go, rolling out to the floor. He retrieves his belt and smirks. The ring crew and stage hands stand guard as Dr. Pierson attends to Alex Kincaid, who's coming to. The Bullet King sees Draven with the belt and seethes. He pushes his assistance away and gets up to his feet.

SAM HEWITT
It's an L in the books, but Alex Kincaid fought hard until the end. You have to admire the man's determination, fighting through the urge to submit to try and get to the ropes - choking yourself even more as you're doing so. It's a testament to what the Heritage Heavyweight title means to these men.

The St. Catharines crowd erupts in cheers for Kincaid, who waves but looks very disheartened by the defeat. Mandeville Nelson walks out to check on him, causing the fans to chant "ONE MORE SHOT" which gets Kincaid smiling a bit.

A dimly lit karaoke bar. The patronage seems largely Japanese, with all of the signs written in the language. There are a great many neon signs but they only serve to give the bar a neo-grunge feel. A group of men in suits, all in varying states of drunkenness do their best to stumble their way through a rendition of “Tiny Dancer”. The camera moves along the bar where we see the intended target, Nick Church. He is dressed in a dark purple blazer, matching pants, and black collared shirt. His expression is neutral, and yet somehow menacing.

NICK CHURCH
Hello Lion’s Road faithful I am sure you remember me. But if you do not, I am Nicholas Church. For those that do, the last time I graced Lion’s Road programming you witness me brutally dismantle the young man Lynx. It was a blessed experience. For me.

Church gestures to the bartender for another round.

NICK CHURCH
I laid such violence on the poor Lynx that the referee had to stop the match because Lynx could no longer defend himself. Truth be told that was upsetting. I would have liked to grind him down a little longer. No wait. I know what some of you may be thinking.

Knave adjusts his position and laughs to himself, under his breath.

NICK CHURCH
Do not misunderstand me, I am not boasting about a victory over such an uninspired opponent. That young man was primed for a casket as soon as he saw his name across from mine on the booking sheet. No, what I am saying is that I want the entire Lion’s Road roster to go back and watch that match.

The bartender slides a rocks glass full of what we can assume gin and soda down the bar. Church stops it with his hand, without breaking his old gaze into the camera lens.

NICK CHURCH
Go watch that match and know that match was only a tiny glimpse at what the Knave is bringing to into the lion’s den. I have spent the last two weeks on tour Japan and while my mind was on my business there, I kept an eye on Lion’s Road so that I knew what to prepare for. That time has come, I return to Lion’s Road next week and I will compete. Whomever stands in my way is going to get cut in half. You all received a small preview of what Knave is capable. Next week I show you more. So much more. Prepare yourselves. All of you. From locker room to event staff to management to the audience. Whomever I decide to inflict with my violence will not endure.

Church drains the contents of his glass in one quick slug.

NICK CHURCH
All fall down.

The camera shows James Edwards working out as we're preparing to go to break, but AJ Knight busts in like Kramer - his typical smirk on his face. Edwards largely ignores him, more focused on his knee.

AJ KNIGHT
Jimbo, how's the knee holding up?

Edwards shrugs, not looking up and instead focuses on sliding a medical sleeve on his injured body part.

JAMES EDWARDS
You know I ain't gonna answer that.

AJ chuckles at this response.

AJ KNIGHT
Well be careful out there, I talked to Irvine earlier, and I think I might have pissed him off a bit....

Edwards smirks, and AJ defensively replies

AJ KNIGHT
You know how temperamental he is, and when I start talking... Well, you know how that is.

Edwards chuckles at AJ's blunt comment.

JAMES EDWARDS
Yeah, I do.

AJ KNIGHT
Knock him dead Jimmy! Break a leg out there!

James' attention immediately turns on AJ, and he gives his rival an annoyed glare, AJ looks confused about what James is annoyed about, but it suddenly dawns on him and a he gets a sheepish grin.

AJ KNIGHT
Yeah, my mouth got ahead of my head there, my bad. Look, James, I've made it clear that I want the winner of this match, and as much as I'd love to be the one to knock Irvine down a peg or two, we've still got some unfinished business I think we need to address. Don't let me down this time.

James cautiously studies AJ as he sticks his fist out, after a moment of hesitation he bumps it.

JAMES EDWARDS
I won't.

Ladies and gentlemen, here to make the special prematch declaration for this fifteenth King of Lions championship bout is the first ever King of Lions Champion... Teddy Davis!

Davis gets some applause as he walks up and shakes Irvine's hand, then shakes hands with Whitaker.

TEDDY DAVIS
It is here tonight in St. Catharines, Ontario that Alexander Irvine looks to make his third defense of the King of Lions Championship against James Edwards - a man who defeated him by knockout on January 4th. These two men are vying for the crown known as the King of Lions - the highest honour in all of Lion's Road. May the best of you two emerge victorious this evening and lay claim to the title of King of Lion's Road!

BRADY ROSSEN
Ladies and gentlemen, this King of Lions title bout is to be fought over a thirty minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner!

The St. Catharines crowd roars!

BRADY ROSSEN
Introducing the challenger! From Lexington, Kentucky! He weighs in at two hundred and four pounds! The Burning Heart - JAMES EDWARDS!

Edwards bows as Pulver claps along with the fans.

BRADY ROSSEN
Introducing the champion! Fighting out of Keokuk, Iowa! He weighs in at two hundred and twenty pounds! Attempting to make his third defense of the King of Lions Championship! The Unnatural - ALEXANDER IRVINE!

Irvine steps forward and raises his title in Edwards' face, earning him a shove. Both Pulver and Jimmy Winner get in the ring and pull their respective men apart.

BRADY ROSSEN
Your referee for this bout is Cordell Garner!

Garner asks both men if they're ready and calls for the bell on their approval, they slowly circle around... sizing one another up. Irvine's talking trash while Edwards' eyes do all his communicating, Pulver can be heard telling James he's got this. Winner of course chimes in, "Jimmy thinks you got this, Alex!" to a chuckle from the crowd. Irvine and Edwards lock horns and Irvine backs up his challenger into the corner, Garner calls for a break - Irvine slowly backs away but swings his right hand up...

EDWARDS BLOCKS IT!

The crowd oohs as Irvine chuckles and backs up, beckoning Edwards out from the corner. The Burning Heart and the Unnatural circle around again, Irvine fakes a takedown and goes for a leg kick - Edwards checks it! Irvine tries to grab him in a clinch, but Edwards executes a go behind! The champion grabs his wrist and holds control over his movement - then stomps his foot! Edwards grunts as the King of Lions takes the arm and wrings it out. He kicks the back of Edwards' knee, knocking him down a peg and then knees him in the shoulder to put him on the mat. Irvine abandons the arm and goes for the other - pulling Edwards up onto his side to do so. However, the challenger grabs the champion's head and and rolls him into a side headlock! Edwards quickly lets go of that and attacks the arm - grabbing an Americana. He uses it to pin Irvine's shoulders to the mat.

1-KICK OUT!

Edwards hops into mount and goes for a cross armbreaker! Irvine turns to defend it, putting the challenger on his back! Edwards lets go and Irvine stands up in Edwards' guard, smiling down at him as he holds control of both feet. Irvine kicks him in the thigh and tries to do it a second time, but Edwards scrambles to his feet.

SAM HEWITT
Interesting to see Edwards, who's typically more of a striker, trying to battle Irvine on the mat.

Irvine's a bad dude, Sam. He'll ruin most people's days on the feet. Edwards does hold a knockout win over him, but he went through hell and back to get that.

SAM HEWITT
Sure did. Which probably leads him to this strategy - work over a limb in the early stages, then maybe advance to striking it later in the bout.

Irvine stalks around Edwards and then the two lock-up, Irvine gets the advantage but it's quickly reversed into a rear chinlock from Edwards. He drops Irvine to a seated position, then slowly adjusts his arms - turning the hold into a sleeper and dropping to his back. He sinks the hooks in, Irvine turns onto his side and manages to pull one of Edwards' arms free to break up the choke. Edwards goes to transition from the back into mount but Irvine bucks him and sweeps into a mount of his own! Edwards thrusts his hips and sends Irvine off balance which allows the challenger to get back to a vertical base. The crowd applauds the exchange and Irvine nods, Edwards glares back as the two begin circling again. Feint strikes from Irvine lead to Edwards grabbing him in a front waist hold, Irvine headbutts him and backs him into the corner as he's off balance. Garner calls for a break, Irvine starts to retreat but Edwards knees him in the gut and tries for a guillotine choke! Garner calls for a break as Irvine struggles, the referee has to put himself between Edwards and Irvine to break it up. The two men head back into the centre of the ring where Irvine is jaw jacking his challenger about the choke - Edwards responds with a palm strike! Pulver slams the apron with his hands, telling Edwards to keep his cool. Edwards elbows Irvine back into the corner and begins ramming knees into his shoulder as he doubles over, trying to draw Garner's attention to break it up. The referee grabs Edwards and pulls him away, but not before a slap to the face from the champion!

BRIAN SHELZI
Blatant disrespect being shown by the King of Lions Champion! A fantastic way to dig under your opponent's skin! Irvine could've easily fought fire with fire, but he told Edwards everything he needed to with that wonderful cheap shot.

Edwards flips his switch, pushing Garner aside and tries to grab the champion! Irvine pops him with an uppercut, then attacks him with a forearm club as Edwards doubles over. The challenger then drives his shoulder into the abdomen of the champion. He goes for a Northern Lights suplex... but Irvine clamps on a guillotine choke! The crowd gasps! Edwards starts pushing forward, trying to back Irvine into the corner but the champion realizes this and waits for the perfect moment... and moves! Edwards goes head first into the corner turnbuckle and Irvine grabs him and clamps on a choke sleeper! He pulls Edwards back into the centre of the ring... Edwards' knees are getting weaker, but the challenger grabs Irvine's arm and drops down - attempting to throw him forward.

IRVINE HOLDS ON!

Edwards rolls and grabs the ropes, but Irvine keeps the hold applied! Garner counts!

BRADY ROSSEN
Referee Cordell Garner has issued a yellow card to Alexander Irvine for refusing to break a hold in the ropes - his first public warning!

Edwards lays gasping for air, Pulver checks on him and wisely tries to buy some time as Garner escorts Irvine back to his corner. The champion sees Pulver and stomps back over, kicking the ropes closest to him. Pulver points at Irvine and says something that can't be picked up causing the Unnatural to smile and invite his old rival into the ring. Garner tells Pulver to back off and then does the same to Irvine as he begins his ten count for Edwards.

3-Edwards begins to stir, Irvine grabs Garner by the shirt and pulls him away before telling Edwards to "get your emo ass off the mat, boy!" much to the delight of Winner! Irvine grabs Edwards and knees him consecutive times in the chest! Irvine clamps on the guillotine choke again, dragging Edwards into the middle of the ring. He suddenly lets go and tries for a forearm smash, but Edwards drops - unintentional or not is unclear - he grabs the champ in a rear waist hold and from a kneeling position thrashes Irvine backwards into the mat to a gasp from the crowd.

BRIAN SHELZI
What on earth was that!? Wow!

SAM HEWITT
Edwards grabbed Irvine in a rear waist hold and from his knees, delivered what you could say would be a German suplex. Maybe an Australian style variation, which sees the attacker utilize a double chickenwing clutch into a low impact bridge for a pin.

BRIAN SHELZI
That was no low impact - that'll get you a trip to the Impact Testing.

Edwards gets up and yells at Irvine to get up, blasting him with a kick as he gets to his knees. Irvine reels over onto all fours and crawls toward the corner to get back up, Edwards chop blocks him as he gets onto his feet again. Edwards is about to follow up with a double stomp when Garner steps in and orders him to back up. Irvine takes his sweet time getting up, smirking at Edwards as he does. Edwards charges him, trying for a Yakuza kick but the champ side steps him and blisters Edwards with a flying knee! The challenger falls back against the ropes, so Irvine grabs him and pulls him down onto all fours in the middle of the ring. Irvine clasps his hands around Edwards' waist and tries to hoist him up for a gutwrench, but Edwards holds onto Irvine's leg to prevent him from doing so. Irvine sits him back down and pummels away on his back, finishing off with a Kawada style kick to the head. Edwards rolls over and gets to his feet!

SAM HEWITT
The Burning Heart really living up to his nickname here - look at his eyes!

Indeed, Edwards' eyes are a fury of a storm. He smashes his hand into Irvine's face, the champion winces and doubles over before coming back with one of his own! Edwards decks him again, Irvine goes for a second but Pulver's words seemingly get through to Edwards and he ducks! Irvine spins around...

REVERSE EXPLODER!

Irvine lands hard on his stomach and sits up... Edwards roars toward him!

VIOLENT GOS-NO

BATTLE CR-uh... NO!

STO FROM EDWARDS!

Irvine's head smacks the mat and he sits up, Edwards starts up to his feet again, bouncing off the ropes... looking for the Violent Gospel again.

IRVINE LAYS BACK DOWN - EDWARDS MISSES!

Irvine rolls up to his feet...

BACK FIST!

Irvine goes right back down, but scrambles to stay on his feet...

VIOLENT GOS-NO!

IRVINE CATCHES THE LEG! AND GETS UP WITH IT!

He tries to set up a single leg suplex, but Edwards pummels him with left and right palm strikes. Irvine abandons it and turns away, Edwards...

Irvine turns bac-

EDWARDS LEAPS UP - KNEE STRIKE!

Irvine goes down, Edwards goes down also! A quick replay shows he ate a punch to the kidney!

Garner begins counting!

Irvine rolls onto his side, Edwards is still in agony from his shot.

Irvine falls back down.

9... Pulver is screaming at Edwards!

Edwards dashes to his feet, Garner's hand goes up!

The St. Catharines crowd comes unglued as the bell sounds, Edwards falls back to the mat and Pulver crawls through the ropes and tackles his partner in a hug! Edwards goes on the defensive thinking it's Irvine. Pulver quickly disarms the situation with "YOU WON!" and Edwards releases him, Matt gets up and tries to help Edwards up but the kidney punch hampers his ability to do so. Undeterred, Pulver grabs the King of Lions belt from the approaching Mandeville Nelson and hands it to Edwards. The Burning Heart stares at it.

SAM HEWITT
He made his debut in late 2016 and quickly captured the Iron Championship and had a tremendous run. He set his sights on the King of Lions and many critics thought he aimed too big too fast as he lost to Cutlass and lost the Iron title in the span of a week. He struggled to maintain his spot in the summer months but returned in the fall, wrestling the Heritage Heavyweight title away from Alan Envy. He had a memorable run with that belt too, defending it throughout the Heritage Cup before losing in the finals to Alex Kincaid. He and Pulver then captured the World tag belts, but recently lost those on a tour of Japan. The loss didn't sit well between them, but this certainly makes that heartbreak easier to deal with for sure. James Edwards is one of the few men in Lion's Road who can lay claim to a Grand Slam... but he'll always be the first.

Edwards gets up under his own power and raises the belt before dropping to his knees. Chad Gomez is inside the ring with a microphone.

CHAD GOMEZ
James... you're the first Grand Slam champion! Congratulations! You've got challengers left and right, is there anyone you wanna fight fir--

Suddenly, AJ Knight grabs Gomez' hand and speaks into the mic.

AJ KNIGHT
When's the ace get a shot, Jimbo!?

Pulver pie faces AJ and the place erupts in a mixed reaction, Knight and Pulver are restrained by security as Edwards stares down his old foe. Edwards goes to answer Gomez, but Irvine cracks him with a liver shot! The newly crowned champion goes down! Irvine rolls out and Jimmy Winner is bouncing up and down in excitement!

SAM HEWITT

We cut to the backstage area, where intrepid reporter Becky Chande stands next to Matt Pulver. Dressed in full ring gear, with his MAX-Japan Junior Heavyweight Championship over his shoulder, he looks focused and ready for his upcoming match.

BECKY CHANDE
I am here with Matt Pulver, who is coming off of a tour with MAX-Japan where he and James Edwards lost their tag team championships to the Demon Brigade. I have to ask, Matt… You and Edwards teamed up specifically to challenge for the tag team titles. Will your partnership continue now that you no longer hold the gold?

MATT PULVER
Well, as long as he doesn’t ditch me after becoming the King of Lions tonight, you haven’t seen the last of us as a team. We lost the titles, but that’s fine. We’re not just going to give up. And I won’t to turn my back on a team as soon as things get rough. I just… I just won’t. We just have to figure some things out and get back on track. James wrestled with a bad knee, and I should’ve done more to protect him. But the important thing is that we work well as a team; we compliment each other well, both in terms of personality and wrestling style. We’ll work harder to get even better and then it’s just a matter of time before we hold those titles again.

BECKY CHANDE
Speaking of tag team partners, tonight you will team up with Justin Seville - a man who you’ve not only had a heated rivalry with, but who is currently wrapped up in a grudge with your former tag team partner and opponent for tonight, AJ Knight. How do you feel about this situation?

Matt closes his eyes for a second and lets out a small sigh.

MATT PULVER
Look, wrestling is a business. As fun and exciting as it can be, at the end of the day, you have to do your job. Sometimes that’s easy, sometimes it’s hard, but you just have to do it. And I always try to do it as well I can. I don’t necessarily like teaming up with Seville, but that’s just how it is. I’m going out there to do my job and I’m going to do my best to make it a win.

BECKY CHANDE
I mentioned AJ Knight earlier, who along with Ben Chrenshaw is one of your opponents in this match. You have a lot of history with both AJ and Chrenshaw. How do you think that will play out in tonight’s match?

The look on his face grows even more focused, his eyes narrow and the muscles in his face tense up.

MATT PULVER
Like I said, wrestling is a business. As much as I love stepping into the ring with Ben Chrenshaw, whether on the same side of the ring or not, tonight is not about that. It’s about business. I just lost the tag titles, which means that business is bad right now. I need to turn that around.

After Cutlass decided to leave, there have been… certain people… who have claimed to be the new Ace of Lion’s Road. Well, get in line. We all want to be the best, that’s why we’re here. I’ve been in Lion’s Road since day one and I’ve worked as hard as I can every day to be the best.

A little over a year ago, I beat the the man who’s the current King of Lions in a Steel Cage match. There were a lot of people who said I couldn’t do it, but I did it. Now there are a lot of people who say that I’ve lost my fire, that I’ve lost my step, that I’m not as good as I were back then. But tonight, everyone who’s been sleeping on Matt Pulver is going to get a wake-up call. I’m going to prove that I’m better than I was back then. I’m going to prove that I’m better than I have ever been. I’m going to prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that I deserve to be in that top spot.
 
With that, he turns his glare away from the camera and leaves the frame.

BECKY CHANDE

We open to Matt Pulver coming down the aisle, Justin Seville waits for him and nods when Pulver gets beside him. The two say a few words, nothing friendly and agree to head down to the ring. The two slide in - both Chrenshaw and Knight put the boots to Seville! Pulver is then punched by Chrenshaw, who sends him reeling. AJ abandons the stomps on Seville for a moment and sees Chrenshaw approaching Pulver. The young Swede blasts Chrenshaw with a European uppercut, staggering him. AJ kicks Pulver in the gut and grabs him by the wrist, whipping him into the ropes. On the rebound, AJ drop toe holds him! Chrenshaw runs up and drops a leg across the back of Pulver's neck! The young lion rolls onto his back in pain and is booted out of the ring by Chrenshaw.

BRIAN SHELZI
Look at this teamwork, Sam. Chrenshaw and AJ have the man they want isolated, even taking out a friend to get to him.

SAM HEWITT
Let's not pretend things are all rosy between Chrenshaw and AJ though.

Chrenshaw presses his knee against Seville's neck as AJ stomps away on Serious Seville's midsection. The two men pull Seville to his feet and AJ starts directing traffic, he tells Chrenshaw that they're going to spike him! AJ grabs Seville and puts his head between his legs, Chrenshaw readies himself as AJ hoists Seville up for a piledriver. Chrenshaw grabs the feet and is about to hit it when Pulver storms back inside and decks AJ from behind to interrupt the hold! Pulver falls to the mat pummelling AJ, prompting Chrenshaw to pull him off. Pulver starts attacking Chrenshaw, which allows AJ to get to his feet and hit a double axe handle on Pulver. He turns around and decks AJ, fighting both men as best that he can. Justin Seville retreats to the corner and watches the action with a sly grin.

SAM HEWITT
I don't think Seville has any intention of helping Pulver like Pulver helped him! I wonder what he's thinking with that sly smirk on his face.

BRIAN SHELZI
"Better him than me!" - Or he's hoping these two tire themselves out beating up Pulver.

Chrenshaw and Knight each grab a side and throw Pulver shoulder first into the ring post! He cries out in pain as Justin Seville finally pulls himself up as AJ approaches. Knight eats a kick to the gut and then a punch, Chrenshaw tries to intervene but Seville gives him a push kick and goes back to punching AJ! He begins getting the upper hand, backing AJ up - CHRENSHAW HITS HIM FROM BEHIND! The crowd isn't quite sure what to make of the situation as both men stomp on Seville again. AJ pulls him up and tries once more to stuff him between his legs, he wraps his hands around Seville's waist and lifts. Chrenshaw is ready to spike him when he sees Pulver, so the Crippler abandons that idea and takes out Pulver with a lariat! AJ piledrives Seville into the mat!

He covers!

3-NO! Foot on the rope!

AJ gets up and looks for Chrenshaw, who is out on the apron - having finally made this a legitimate tag team match. He reaches out for the tag and Chrenshaw slaps his hand and gets in, the Crippler watches as AJ pulls Seville to his feet and chucks him in Chrenshaw's direction. The English born grappler grabs Seville in a front chancery and throws his arm over...

SNAP SUPLEX!

He floats over for the cover...

2-KICK OUT!

Chrenshaw gets up and heads up top in a neutral corner. Pulver pops up on the apron and grabs Chrenshaw's foot, the Crippler tries to shake him off and does so! Pulver falls to the floor and Chrenshaw steadies himself... only for Pulver to get back up and send Chrenshaw flying to the mat! Pulver tries to get in and buy Seville some time to recover but AJ grabs him and delivers several forearm clubs to the back. Chrenshaw gets up and hits him with several knees to the midsection, Pulver falls to his knees coughing. AJ grabs him and waits for Chrenshaw... the two each hook an arm and deliver a double suplex! Pulver rolls out of the ring, Chrenshaw grabs Seville and tells AJ to hit him. AJ readies it...

SUPERKICK!

TO...

CHRENSHAW!

Seville ducks, Chrenshaw goes down! AJ grabs his head but can't reflect on it long before he's spun around, Seville kicks him in the gut and goes for the piledriver... but AJ back drops him! He quickly checks on Chrenshaw after Seville slams into the mat, then runs over and kicks Pulver as he's trying to get back in the ring. Seville slowly gets to his knees and goes after AJ, but Chrenshaw chop blocks him from behind! AJ watches him fall and then picks him up, clamps on a front chancery and delivers Knightfall! He rolls Seville onto his back!

Chrenshaw prevents Pulver from getting back inside!

AJ rolls off and out of the ring, straight up to the back. Chrenshaw exits the ring and says something to Pulver, who shakes his head in response. Chrenshaw smirks and walks up the aisle, leaving Pulver to contemplate whether to check on Seville or not.

BRIAN SHELZI
Pulver's such a kind fellow that he has to think about going to check on a partner?

SAM HEWITT
Never mind the fact that said partner spent the better part of last year attacking him?

BRIAN SHELZI
Semantics, Sam.

Pulver climbs in and checks on Seville, who shoves Pulver away as he's getting up. Seville can be heard bitching about Pulver not being there, Pulver begins to explain himself but stops short and drops to the mat, rolling out of the ring. He heads to the back leaving Seville steaming over his loss.
