BRIEF HISTORY - Joe Stanton's career started after being a long term fan of pro-wrestling, specifically NGIW. Once he graduated, he would spend the better part of a few years plying his trade in the mid-west in an attempt to pay his dues & get noticed. Occasionally getting gigs in Japan too. It would pay off eventually, the company he had loved watching on TV would sign him on during a talent initiative.
He spent three years in NGIW, competing at multiple levels within the roster's structure and divisions. Joe learned the hard way you don't try to rise to the top without making a few enemies, getting into some heated wars with veterans of the company & newer blood alike. That all came to an end when Stanton abruptly left the company and disappeared entirely from the professional wrestling scene. Numerous rumors had circulated since about his whereabouts and what he's been up to, from retiring in some small town to moving to the mountains to be a lumberjack to taking up underground cage fighting.
Joe Stanton would reemerge for the brief revival of NGIW, competing with a new outlook on pro-wrestling. His shift in behavior drew more than a few questions about the man and his mental health. But when the company's doors closed, Joe would disappear again and become the thing of speculation as to his whereabouts. Till he came to FIW, the sister promotion of NGIW that was on a global scale and he would spend a year there wrestling some of their very best in the process. In 2017 he'd wrangle the Fighting Spirit Championship from its champion and he would battle in the division, representing it twice and holding the championship for the majority of the year.
PREVIOUS INJURIES - Back injury.
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES -
1. That. Right. Hand. (It's worth noting that because of his mentality and this Joe will never use said right hand until going for a Shoryuken attempt to make it sporting and "interesting".)
2. Incredible threshold for pain.
3. Freakishly fast.
1. Acrophobia - Suffers from a fear of heights.
2. Not the most technically sound wrestler ever.
3. Can be shortsighted due to his lust for battle.
SPORTSMANSHIP - For as blood thirsty as Stanton can come across at times, he plays within the confines of the rules. It's part of the challenge to him beyond it being the right thing to do. He will shake hands with opponents before a match usually and typically after it too. If a victory was ruled in his favor by doctor stoppage Stanton would be visibly upset, both for his opponent's well being and because that's just not how he'd want a battle to end. He'd offer a rematch and try to help his opponent in any way he could.
FIGHTING STYLE - The genesis of his fighting style was when he took up street fighting as a teenager and there's still some of it in him even after his father eventually got him in a boxing ring & he was taught a more proper form of fisticuffs. Transitioning into pro-wrestling school, he was never patient enough to master the technical side of the spectrum and due to his fear of heights he never fully got his wings enough to be considered a high flyer. Though through his training there and globe trotting around the world, especially in Japan, Stanton's developed a rather proficient mixture of suplexs, power moves and some more athletic maneuvers involving springboarding off the ropes that help round out his brawler roots.
