From the Queen City of the Lakes - Buffalo, New York! Hello wrestling fans, I'm Sam Hewitt joined as always by Brian Shelzi and tonight, Lion's Road and the Laurentide Athletic Commission present the Buffalo Stampede! Brian, it's the culmination of the month long Laurentide Cup which saw twelve of the sport's best go head to head in round robin action. Tonight, the winner of the A Block - King of Lions World's Heavyweight Champion AJ Knight takes on the winner of the B Block, "Dynamite" David Troy. Not only that, AJ Knight vowed to put the World's Championship on the line in the finals if he got to it and indeed he did, so the Laurentide Cup and the richest prize in our sport are both at stake in our main event.

BRIAN SHELZI

Odds are one thing, Sammy, but momentum is quite another and I have to believe David Troy's got the momentum on his side. Both men had the same record in the tournament, 3-1-1, but David Troy is coming off a big knockout win over Joe Stanton while Justin Seville took AJ Knight to the limit... and let's be honest, that was an L for AJ if there was thirty more seconds in that match. Troy's been on a big resurgence, a whole new attitude seemingly sparked by his loss at the second anniversary event, he's comin' in hot and if the Heritage Cup showed us anything, it's that the veteran challenger can come out on top against a young champion.

SAM HEWITT

Also on the bill this evening, a grudge match between two newcomers to Lion's Road - Billy Danielson and Joe Stanton. These two men have been at odds since the beginning of the Laurentide Cup, despite being in separate blocks but tonight they'll finally get their chance to lock horns here in Buffalo. And of course, there's the big six man tag team bout as the newly formed faction known as the WALL will send three members - Alexander Irvine, Hammerstein & Carl Whitaker to battle the trio of Ben Chrenshaw, Matt Pulver and Pat Cross.

BRIAN SHELZI

And what I love about this - you can talk all you want about how Irvine, Hammerstein and Whitaker is an odd pairing but that team opposite of them is a stick of dynamite waiting to blow. Chrenshaw and Pulver are old rivals, they might pretend to get along these days but I see through BS - they are my initials after all. Pat Cross lifts what he is - a dumbell, all brawn no brains. He can throw security around, but how's he going to fair against three of the baddest dudes in Lion's Road?

SAM HEWITT

We'll find out tonight! I understand Becky Chande is standing by backstage.

Indeed, we go backstage to Becky Chande in front of the Lion’s Road backdrop getting ready for her next interview that will certainly be a doozy.

BECKY CHANDE
Thank you, guys. I'm about to get a few words with a man that is absent from action tonight due to his actions after our last show. Please welcome Lion’s Road Heritage Heavyweight Champion Bam Markham.

Stomping into view, an angry and irate Bam Markham has his title slung over his shoulder as Becky turns to face him.

BECKY CHANDE
Bam, thank you for joining us tonight. As you’ve guessed, the video of your altercation with John Mitchell of Wrestle Sports Weekly has circulated quite a bit. And I have been informed by management that during your interview tonight, that any sort of unprofessional conduct could result in perhaps another fine or talk of you being stripped of that title for conduct unbecoming of a champion.

Bam shrugs his shoulders.

BAM MARKHAM
…Becky, I don’t give a fu…

“ENOUGH.”

The camera backs up and into view comes a face that Bam Markham does not expect to see…

His grandfather, Cam “Slam” Markham!

BAM MARKHAM
Pops… not that it ain’t nice to see you, but what the fuck are you doing here?

Cam glares at his grandson and shakes his head.

CAM “SLAM” MARKHAM
…Watchin’ my grandson take a big PISS all over the Markham name, that’s what!

Bam’s jaw drops with that statement… a rare time that the mountain man has been speechless.

BAM MARKHAM
The… the hell you say to me, old man?

Cam doesn’t back down from his grandson despite being forty years his senior.

CAM “SLAM” MARKHAM
I said I’m sick of what you’ve been doin’ with the family name, boy… and I didn’t get your big ass this job and stick my neck out for you with Mandy JUST so you could mess it all up!

Becky backs away from the two large man as Cam continues letting his grandson have it.

CAM “SLAM” MARKHAM
You big dumbass… you started out great. Me and Mandeville Nelson go back years and he liked what he saw at your tryout earlier this year. Then in your first match, you won that Heritage Heavyweight Title. But then you went 2-3 in the Cup. Now you’re gettin' fined for attackin’ reporters instead of savin’ it for the ring… THAT’S how you wanna be remembered?

Bam looks at his title.

BAM MARKHAM
Nah, I’ll be remembered for this, Po…

CAM “SLAM” MARKHAM
Bein’ lucky?

Bam seethes quietly while his grandfather continues the lambasting.

CAM “SLAM” MARKHAM
Nah, I ain’t lettin’ you come up here and cancel out the checks my ass wrote in that ring for thirty years ‘cause things didn’t go your way. Bam… you’ve got all the potential in the goddamn world to be the fiercest beast this place ever done saw. But your temper kept gettin’ the best of you, then your opponents keep seein’ it and THAT’S why ya didn’t go further in the Laurentide Cup. You’re your own worst enemy, Bam.

The Heritage Heavyweight Champion sizes up to his grandfather, obviously the things he’s saying striking a nerve.

BAM MARKHAM
…And what’s YOUR brilliant plan? Me bendin’ over for this place just cause y’all got me in the door?

Cam shakes his head.

CAM “SLAM” MARKHAM
You know DAMN well and good that ain’t what I mean, boy… you’ve got all that raw strength in your bones, but I think that you need focus. Or really, somebody to help KEEP your focus when you’re out there. That way, you can keep that title and be the champ I KNOW you can be and TEAR anybody that comes lookin’ for it apart.

Bam gives it some thought and then finally opens his mouth.

BAM MARKHAM
…I’m listenin’.

Cam nods off-screen.

CAM “SLAM” MARKHAM
Let’s get outta here and talk business, boy.

Bam nods and follows his grandfather off screen, cutting Becky’s interview short as we go to break.

Referee Buster Powell calls for the bell as the two teams sort out their starting man - Matt Pulver for his side and Carl Whitaker for the WALL. The two men lock-up, collar and elbow style with the Texas born Whitaker backing up the Swedish mat wrestling machine into the corner turnbuckles. Powell calls for a clean break and Whitaker starts to back off, but drives his shoulder into the midsection of Pulver - doubling him over. Whitaker continues the assault, beating him over the back with forearm clubs before opting to Irish whip him across the ring into the opposite corner. Whitaker storms in after Pulver but catches a boot to the face for his efforts! The fans come alive as Pulver launches himself into a forearm, knocking Whitaker to the mat. Both men return to their feet at the same moment and Pulver nails a dropkick that sends the off balanced Ol' Stonehands down!

SAM HEWITT

A well timed dropkick sends Carl Whitaker into enemy territory! Chrenshaw with a shot! Pat Cross gives him one of his own! The fans are loving this!

BRIAN SHELZI

C'mon, Powell! Do your damn job!

The staggered Whitaker is spun around by the big man's blow, Pulver goes to give him one but Whitaker tries to dodge it and falls on his ass! The fans laugh as Alexander Irvine crouches down on the apron, attending to his teammate while Hammerstein yells at the fans to keep their mouth shut - which only serves to incite them more. Pulver calls for the trio to bring it on, but Irvine tells Whitaker to ignore him and focus. Irvine pats him on the back and Whitaker pulls himself to his feet. Pulver is ready to lock-up, but the Bull tells Powell to keep him back for a minute. Whitaker walks right up to Pat Cross and the two trade a few colorful words before Whitaker slaps him! The shot clearly stings - judging by Cross scrunching up his face, but the big man responds by reaching in for a tag and Matt Pulver is happy to oblige. To his credit, Whitaker doesn't back down one bit as the Big Alaskan gets in to square off with the Mean Ol' Texan.

SAM HEWITT

Two men from the two biggest states in the US, ready to throw down!

They lock-up, Whitaker manages to snag a side headlock quickly but Cross pushes him back into the ropes and shoots him off. Cross tries for an attack, but Ol' Stonehands ducks and decks him with a big right! The Alaskan is staggered, but doesn't go down! Whitaker turns, but pivots - looking for the discus lariat. Cross ducks, grabs Whitaker on the turn around and launches him high into the air with a back body drop! The Buffalo fans are eating it up! Whitaker rolls out of the ring, making an automatic tag - Alexander Irvine comes in and gets in Cross' face. The Big Alaskan chuckles, earning himself a shove from the former King of Lions. Cross decks him! Irvine goes down, but the Big Alaskan reaches down and yanks the Unnatural back up onto his feet with ease. Irvine grabs a hold of Cross' head and rattles him with a headbutt! Cross falls back into the ropes, Irvine lets out a "fuck!" as he grabs his own head in pain. He shakes it off and kicks Cross in the gut as he's trying to get off the ropes, Irvine then launches into a flying knee! The big man falls to a knee and sensing trouble, Pulver stretches across - still holding the tag rope - and tags himself into the match. This draws a nasty look from Irvine as the old rivals circle around. They lock-up, Pulver grabs an arm and wrings it out. Irvine yanks him in, headbutting him as he does, and grabs a side headlock. Pulver tries to push him toward the ropes, but the Unnatural one doesn't budge. Pulver tries to lift him up, but Irvine clamps on tight! Pulver then rocks backwards, then rolls forward - winding up with a pin on Irvine!

2-KICK OUT!

Irvine gets up, Pulver grabs him in a side headlock and brings him over to tag in Chrenshaw! The crowd roars as Irvine's old partner jumps through the ropes and grabs Irvine's head, striking him with multiple knees to the gut... then one to the head! Irvine falls to a knee, Chrenshaw yanks him up and whips him into the ropes! Before Irvine can rebound off, Hammerstein grabs him by the arm and pulls him into the corner where he tags himself in. The Crippler smirks as HIS old rival climbs in.

SAM HEWITT

I checked this out earlier today - this'll be the first time these two men have squared off inside a Lion's Road ring since October 2017. Of course, their rivalry was named Best Feud of 2016 by you, the fans. Battles over the Iron Championship, held at that time by Ben Chrenshaw. It eventually led to both men getting a chance to battle Julian Cutlass in a Triangle Survival at the year end event in 2016 where Hammerstein eliminated Chrenshaw before falling to Cutlass in a valiant effort.

BRIAN SHELZI

Not only was that the old Hammerstein, it was the old Ben Chrenshaw, too. The only thing that man has crippled lately is any memories of him being a hard-nosed competitor.

Chrenshaw and Hammer lock horns, the Crippler pulls an arm wringer out of the tie-up and batters the arm with repeated shots! Hammer drops to a knee from the pain of the assault, but then gets up and nearly bowls Chrenshaw over as he drives him back into the ropes. The American Monster whips him across the ring, Chrenshaw hops over Hammerstein's attempt to trip him. Chrenshaw turns around and dropkicks Hammerstein as he's on one knee! Hammerstein hits the mat with a thud and Chrenshaw grabs the leg and yanks him over to the corner where Pulver tags in. The Man of a Thousand Holds climbs inside and tries to grab the leg, but Hammer pushes him off and kicks him into the corner. Pulver recovers just as Hammer is getting up and storms at him, Hammer uses the momentum against Pulver and throws him into the corner opposite of the one he came from. He charges in and lariats him! Pulver staggers out, Hammer scoops him up and drives him into the mat with a powerslam! He gets up, backs into the ropes and runs forward...

NO ONE HOME ON THE LEG DROP!

Hammer gets back up, holding his thigh in pain. Pulver tries to get up and push Hammer into the ropes for an O'Connor roll, but Irvine grabs Hammerstein's arm and Pulver falls backwards with nothing but himself. Powell warns the WALL about outside interference, but Irvine tells him off! Pulver recovers...

DROPKICK!

Hammerstein tumbles over the top rope and to the apron, Irvine and Whitaker yell at Powell to call a disqualification but the former footballer says it was Hammerstein's momentum that carried him over. Hammerstein rolls back inside and gets to his feet, his teammates buying him some time. Pulver crouches in place, telling the Monster to bring it on. Hammerstein and Pulver lock horns, but the former fan favourite chucks the Swede into enemy territory and tags in Carl Whitaker. Whitaker gets in and whips Pulver into the ropes, looking for his knockout punch - Pulver ducks it and locks on a cobra clutch! Whitaker thrashes Pulver around, but the wily mat machine hangs on tight! Ol' Stonehands bulls him backwards, driving him into the turnbuckles where the two men bonk heads! Cross and Chrenshaw call for Pulver while Whitaker crawls over to his teammates. He reaches up and tags in Hammerstein, Pulver rolls out...

HERE COMES PAT CROSS!

Hammerstein eats a big boot! He goes down. Irvine storms in, he gets back body dropped and Chrenshaw jumps in and dumps him out to the floor before following him out. Cross turns around and goes to grab Hammer but gets smacked from behind by Carl Whitaker! He turns around and blocks the knockout punch, grabbing Whitaker up and throwing him onto his shoulder! Cross points to the mat, the crowd roars! Hammerstein gets up and charges Cross! Whitaker is dumped unceremoniously... Justin Seville comes to ringside and throws something to Ol' Stonehands! Cross eats a few shots from Hammer, then blasts him with a big lariat! He turns around...

SMACK!

Whatever was in Whitaker's hand enhances his right hand hook and the big man crumples! Whitaker covers!

Pulver is a second too late on the save!

Chaos reigns supreme on this one! The WALL allowing all hell to break loose, distracting Powell so that Justin Seville could make his way down and toss an apparent foreign object to Whitaker and he uses it to crack Pat Cross upside the head. Whatever it was - the big man is still out!

BRIAN SHELZI

His big ugly mug could use some beauty rest! I'd say that's a good dead on behalf of the WALL!

Seville collects his stablemates as Chrenshaw climbs into the ring, checking over Pat Cross with Matt Pulver - the battle may have been won, but it looks like a war is brewing. The WALL are all smiles, despite their obvious signs of pain as they head back up the aisle.

Joe Stanton is standing-by somewhere in the backstage area, he's already suited up for his match tonight. There's an obvious sign of aggravation on his features though, his brow furrowed, his lips twisted into a frown, and his eyes burning a hole into the lens filming him.

"That's it?"

The question is growled out and Stanton holds out his arms.

"The interrupting my interview and sucker punching me, the constant interference in the Laurentide Cup matches to ensure I was boxed out of advancing? All of this attention from Billy Danielson over..."

There's a bubbling anger to his words, his temper trying hard to reach a boiling point.

"One tweet?"

The Scarlet Speedster folds his arms and he asks the question in a stern tone, practically grinding his teeth as he does so. He nods his head and unfolds his arms as quickly as he folded them, waggling a finger at the camera.

"You heard me, ladies and gentlemen. One tweet. Months ago my twitter machine was being blown up by the Midnight Horsemen, especially Billy, moaning over how Billy had lost a championship. Literally that day every other tweet on my feed was one from Billy that was complaining about the situation. Saying how he was robbed, saying how unfair it all was, saying how he should still be champion, saying how it was like losing his darling dog, saying how the world was ending all around us because for the first time in the history of professional wrestling somebody lost a championship."

Dramatically Joe fakes a sobbing tone and wails out the details of that apparently very faithful day. The act is dropped fast, in part because of his anger seeping back into his demeanor.

"I got sick and tired of scrolling by it and half reading it, so I did something about it, I told him how about he does everybody a favor and stops belly aching, and does something about it besides whining on Twitter about it."

Shaking his head, Joe recalls what he told Billy with a look of disbelief on his face. He scoffs at the notion that this one little tweet set all of this in motion.

"It's true, he got his unmentionables in a wad about it. But when I told him to name a time and place if he was so inclined to bark at me, he tried to big league me and act like he had better things to do. To be honest, I had almost entirely forgotten all about it till I saw his promotional material and he explained his grand motivation for everything he's done. I had better things to do than concern myself with a man that was too chicken to go reclaim his championship or settle whatever issue he had with me like two fighters do."

Stanton shrugs over how Billy responded to his tweet initially, clearly not impressed. That tinge of disbelief stays in his tone and his face though when he explains he had nearly forgotten the entire incident.

"And it is with this motivation laid bare that I have to confess you've exposed something you probably have ought to keep quiet about, Billy. Because you say you didn't know who I was or cared what I said but I'm not the one that very clearly stewed on the other's words for almost a full year and made machinations to screw them out of a tournament they both happened to be in. Words of a man that if we are to believe you you didn't even know, words of a man you're now trying to claim spoke out multiple times in what seems like trying to justify your actions to others. I'm not the one that feels the need to constantly remind everyone how great I am or how I'm better than the person next to me, and maybe you are, Billy Danielson, maybe you are. Maybe you're the G.O.A.T. you proclaim yourself to be, maybe you take all the shortcuts you take just because you can and maybe you have the attitude you have because the rest of the industry is catching up to what you already know."

Stretching out his hands to beside him, Joe Stanton acts if as Billy's figurative motives are presented right before him. Stanton's voice still tainted with anger when he continues to speak.

"But what does it mean that I've been on your mind for a year? Why would the G.O.A.T. be concerned with the words of a nobody? It's not my words you need to be concerned with, Billy, not anymore. The only thing you need to concern yourself with is my fists."

To illustrate his point, Joe brings up his dukes in a classic boxing stance.

"You can tweet about that, G.O.A.T."

Stanton says with a scoff and he throws a shadow punch that the scene cuts on.

I'd love to be in Billy Danielson's shoes right now. It's not often you get the chance to beat up a guy who's been trolling you on social media, I don't it much anymore but there's always an aggravating little dweeb on there who thinks he's hot stuff. That guy tonight is Joe Stanton.

Both men are in the ring.

BRADY ROSSEN

Ladies and gentlemen, this bout is to be fought over a fifteen minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner! Introducing first fighting out of Chicago, Illinois! He weighed in this morning at two hundred and thirty seven pounds - Joe Stanton!

Stanton throws his right arm up.

BRADY ROSSEN

His opponent also fighting out of Chicago, Illinois! He weighs in at two hundred and forty pounds - Billy Danielson!

Danielson charges across the ring, catching Stanton off guard. Rossen high tails it out of the ring as Xavier Price tries to restore order, but just decides to call for the opening bell. Danielson grabs Stanton after several forearm smashes across the back and tries to ram him head first into the top turnbuckle, but Stanton gets his foot up and elbows Danielson in the gut sending him staggering away. Stanton goes to give chase, grabbing Danielson but he eats a knee to the solar plexus. The GOAT fires off multiple chops, then rocks Stanton with an elbow that puts him on the ropes. He grabs the wrist and shoots him out, Stanton leaps onto the second rope and soars backwards looking for his springboard kick but Billy ducks it and taps his temple proclaiming his superior intelligence. He turns around, Stanton takes him out with the Catch Me cross body splash! He lands on top and covers!

2-NO!

Stanton drags Billy to his knees where the GOAT delivers a shot, dangerously close to the groin. Price warns him, Danielson insists it was a legal shot and the replay shows that it was - just barely. Danielson backs Stanton into the corner and drives his knee into the same spot a couple of times, dropping Stanton to his knees. Danielson grabs him and pulls him to his feet and tries to Irish whip him across the ring, but it gets reversed... then reversed again! Stanton goes sternum first into the turnbuckles and stumbles back, Danielson drives a knee into Stanton's back causing the Scarlet Speedster to drop to his knees. Danielson screams in his face, "was it worth trolling me?!" before slamming his face into the middle turnbuckle! He drags Stanton back up to a vertical base, but slams him back down to the mat rather quickly and goes for a cover!

I think Billy Danielson might be taking this issue a bit too personally. All this over social media?

BRIAN SHELZI

I'll give you a pass, Sammy, you don't use social media. You're one of the smart ones. The people on it, much like the people in the crowd - are idiots. One of the guys inside the ring also happens to be an idiot and I'll give you a hint - it's not Billy Danielson. Our parents raised us to mind our own business. Stanton's parents... well, they clearly didn't raise him at all.

Danielson lifts Stanton into a seated position and drives his knee into the spine as he wraps his arms around Stanton's head. The crowd begins to get behind Stanton, chanting his name as he attempts to fight back up to his feet. Stanton delivers a big back elbow to the midsection, Danielson grunts as he absorbs the shot but tries to hold on. Stanton gives him a second, Danielson's grip is broken and the Guy in Shades backs up into the ropes and charges forth...

DANIELSON CUTS HIM OFF!

A big knee to the gut sends Stanton somersaulting forward! Danielson laughs as he gets to his feet, Stanton grimaces in pain holding his midsection. Danielson walks over and is shit talking the whole way, Stanton grabs him by the tights and yanks him forward - sending him head first into the top turnbuckle! Danielson teeters backwards and hits the mat, Stanton wearily gets to his feet and looks around... then leaps forward, performing a standing shooting star press!

DANIELSON GETS HIS KNEE IN THE CHEST!

Joe rolls away kicking in pain.

Watch the replay - why this guy insists on doing this move, I'll never quite understand. He narrowly misses getting Danielson's knee in the head, that's how terrible of a press it was. There's better way to headbutt people, but with decisions like that - he might've headbutted too many people over the course of his career.

The GOAT gets up and stomps away on the chest/gut of Stanton, then pulls him up and beans him off the top turnbuckle. Stanton falls back against the ropes and Danielson does a cocky little strut across the ring, then springs off the ropes...

RIGHT INTO A STANTON BACKFIST! BLACK DOG!

Danielson's cocky strut has turned into Flair flop! Stanton holds steady on the ropes, watching Danielson as he pushes off the mat and falls back into a sitting position. Stanton yells to the crowd, "KEEP QUIET, BILLY!" as he launches into his sliding forearm smash, but Danielson falls backwards and Stanton misses! Danielson rolls onto all fours, Stanton recovers and storms the downed Danielson...

FLAP JACK!

Stanton bounces off the mat with a sickening thud, almost as if he just got turned into a pancake himself. Danielson laughs, telling everyone that's why he's the GOAT! Danielson calls for the end, grabbing Stanton off the mat and slapping him a few times.

Danielson drags him in close to the corner turnbuckles and climbs up the ropes, slowly...

He reaches the top and holds his arms out...

Danielson sits up, holding his chest in pain... Stanton springs off the ropes...

KEEP QUIET - SLIDING ELBOW SMASH!

It ends up being more of a sliding elbow smash/crossbody, but it's effective nonetheless as he lands on top in a cover!

Stanton rolls off and staggers to his feet, but falls back to his knees. Xavier Price raises his arm in victory as Danielson rolls onto his stomach, then gets up to his knees holding his face.

Well, Brian - he put his money where his mouth was and Joe Stanton just scored a victory over Billy Danielson!

BRIAN SHELZI

I-I, uh... shut up, Sammy!

Stanton turns around and sees Danielson kneeling on the ground. The GOAT beckons him over and although hesitant, Danielson insists and extends his hand. Stanton looks to the crowd, wondering if he should do it. The general consenus is NO...

AND RIGHTFULLY SO!

Danielson gets tired of waiting and low blows Stanton! He falls back to the mat, rolls out of the ring laughing hysterically as the Buffalo fans boo him.

"I'm still the best, you're still Buffalo!"

The crowd boos him even louder, Stanton's glower from the low blow says everything you need to know as we go to break.

Back from break, AJ Knight laces up his wrist gauntlets as Becky Chande stands by.

BECKY CHANDE

AJ, you are moments away from your first defense of the King of the Lion's Championship against David Troy, do you have any words you'd like to say?

AJ gives her a look.

BECKY CHANDE
Okay! Yeah, stupid question.

AJ KNIGHT

Yeah, kinda, but either way - tonight is history repeating oddly. Tonight is the beginning of a gauntlet of title defenses, and for the second time this year I'm in a gauntlet that starts with David Troy. Last time this happened I beat him in less than 5 minutes. Of course that was a different David Troy, and besides I don't want it to be exactly the same as last time. Because last time I lost in the end and it was a learning experience to be sure. See up to that point I was riding high, but that night taught me I'm not invincible. That any night I could be beaten by anybody. It was a hard night, but I pulled myself up by my bootstraps, I got stronger and eventually I toppled Julian Cutlass as the ace! I moved forward and I won this!

AJ pulls up the title belt from the bench next to him.

AJ KNIGHT

See, that's called growing up. You don't always win, sometimes you fall flat on your face. But you dust yourself off and you learn from it, and that's what separates you and I, David. When the going got tough, I got stronger. But you? You got mad, you got bitter, you abandoned everything you once were.

AJ places the championship over his shoulder before continuing.

AJ KNIGHT

David, I've walked the road you are now. To know in your heart of hearts that your time is finally here, and then it all comes crashing down. That was me up until last month, so a lot of people would write this off as a sure thing. But not me, because I know that all it takes is one night to change everything. This is about legacy for you David, one win to redeem a life of failure. You need this win David, you need it more than you know. Because without this win, what is your legacy?

AJ smirks at his question.

AJ KNIGHT

You and I both know the answer: Nothing.

AJ lifts the championship high over head getting close to the camera.

See David, this championship isn't what defines me. Without this championship who is AJ Knight? Well that answer is obvious isn't it? I'm the man who rose through the ranks with the Red Army, before breaking free and rising to a new level on his own. The man who fought through some of the most violent matches in Lion's Road against Hammerstein, which are still talked about as among the greatest in the history of this company. I'm the man who toppled Julian Cutlass in a half hour long classic. I did all of that without the World's title. I redefined this company's legacy with just my own two hands. Imagine what I can do with this title! David with or without this title I shape Lion's Road in my image. But David if you're nothing without this title? Then you don't deserve to have it.

AJ's voice gets icy.

AJ KNIGHT

For all of your talk David, your legacy is going to boil down to a number, and a letter: v1.

He walks off.

The locker room, with the lights dimmed down.

David Troy sits alone, on the bench, dressed for battle, eyes closed. He sits upright, muttering sutras to himself as his body shifts with his breathing.

And there he is; Group B winner, Laurentide Cup finalist, and King of Lions challenger David Troy, moments away from what is probably the biggest match of his life.

BRIAN SHELZI
Since he started walking the crooked path he’s been determined to crown himself ruler of the sport, and that determination’s gonna be a threat to AJ Knight or ANYONE who stands on the other side of the ring.

David rises to his feet and opens his eyes.

He walks towards the exit into the main corridor, like a warrior ready for the ultimate battle.

A shot of the ring,

Darkness.

The Pollovision roars to life as "Death Threat" by Death in Vegas accompanies David Troy to the ring. The veteran fighter of twenty one years walks out, heading into his first World's Championship bout in Lion's Road with a confident fire in his eyes. Stage hands flank either side of him, preventing fans from grabbing him or his walkout clothing - a simple black LION'S ROAD t-shirt with gold font. He gets to ringside and climbs up and inside, then turns to stand and wait for the champion's arrival.

A-J!

"Until the End" by Breaking Benjamin begins, AJ Knight is led out to the ring by stage hands. He carries the King of Lions World's Championship in his hand, Ben Chrenshaw walks behind him. Fans reach out to touch him and AJ subconsciously slaps hands with them but his eyes are fixated on the squared circle and the man within its ropes. AJ gets up on the apron and raises his arms, the title in both hands now as he raises it proudly to a pop. He climbs inside, walks past Teddy Davis and Cordell Garner and takes his corner.

BRADY ROSSEN

Ladies and gentlemen, here to make the special prematch declaration for the seventeenth World's title bout is Great Lakes wrestling legend, Teddy Davis!

Davis steps forward and reads from his card as Rossen holds the microphone.

TEDDY DAVIS

It is here tonight in Buffalo, New York at the Buffalo Stampede that reigning champion AJ Knight looks to make his first defense of the King of Lions World's Heavyweight Championship and in turn, win the 2018 Laurentide Cup. David Troy, the man across from him from this evening looks to bring his twenty one year hunt to an end. Tonight, these two men are vying for the richest prize in our sport and the highest honour in all of Lion's Road! May the best man win!

The crowd roars as Teddy Davis steps back, he offers a handshake to David Troy but simply gets a nod. Davis turns and walks to AJ, who happily shakes his hand. Brady Rossen steps front and centre.

BRADY ROSSEN

Ladies and gentlemen, this is your main event of the evening! It is to be fought over a thirty minute time limit with one fall, one submission or a knockout to decide the winner and it is the finals of the 2018 Laurentide Cup... also to be fought for the King of Lions World's Championship. Introducing first fighting out of Blackwood, New Jersey! He weighed in this morning at two hundred and two pounds! The B Block Champion - "Dynamite" David Troy!

No wai kru dance, just a simple cold stare from challenger to champion.

BRADY ROSSEN

His opponent is fighting out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania! He weighed in this morning at two hundred and twenty pounds! The King of Lions World's Champion - AJ Knight!

AJ steps forward and raises the belt.

BRADY ROSSEN

Your referee for this bout is Cordell Garner!

Garner takes the title and raises it high, Rossen reaches the floor and is handed the belt. Garner quickly checks over both men and calls for the bell!

AJ KNIGHT BEAT DAVID TROY BY PINFALL (4:34) IN THEIR ONLY SINGLES ENCOUNTER, 2/8/2018 in TOLEDO, OHIO

The two men circle around, sizing each other up. A collar and elbow tie-up begins the proceedings and despite being outmatched by three inches and eighteen pounds, David Troy holds his own for a good fifteen seconds before AJ Knight is able to adjust his grip and back "Dynamite" back up into the ropes. Garner calls for a clean break, AJ backs off then lunges forward, Troy gets his arms up but AJ backs up with a chuckle. The crowd oohs at the mind games and a shot of Ben Chrenshaw on the floor suggests that it was a key part of the champion's training to try and get inside Troy's head as soon as possible. Troy to his credit remains pretty cool about the situation as they step out and circle again, a lock-up finds Troy behind AJ with a rear waist hold. AJ is shoved forward by Troy, turns around and eats a high kick to the chest/throat! AJ falls against the ropes, holding his throat as Garner quickly checks him over. AJ insists he's OK and gets up off the ropes, Troy is expressionless as the two circle around again. He grabs a side headlock out of a lock-up but AJ quickly backs him up into the ropes and shoots him off, Troy is barely off the ropes when AJ blasts him with a forearm! Troy falls through the ropes to the apron, AJ stays back until Troy gets back up to a knee out there. He reaches to reach over, but Troy attempts to grab the arm - AJ pulls back and unleashes an elbow! Troy starts to fall backwards, but grabs onto the top rope to maintain his balance. AJ latches onto his head and hauls him inside the hard way, taking him to the mat with a side headlock.

SAM HEWITT

One of the more unique side headlock takedowns that I've ever seen.

Troy tries to wrap his legs around AJ's head to break free, but AJ leans forward on each attempt to prevent it. Finally, he swings his hops and rolls onto his knees and begins the ascent back to his feet. AJ hangs on as Troy backs him into the ropes, "Dynamite" attempts to Irish whip him into the opposite ropes but gets reverse. AJ once again tries to catch Troy with a strike, but the challenger ducks and rolls. He pops up and AJ turns around...

LEG LARIAT!

He covers!

2-NO!

Troy pulls AJ up and clamps on a front chancery, he tries to kick back for a DDT but AJ holds on and powers up - delivering a Northern Lights suplex! AJ cannot follow up, still reeling from the effects of the leg lariat. Troy recovers first and jumps on AJ's back, clasping his hands underneath his chin and pulling back - a variation on the camel clutch! Chrenshaw yells directions to AJ from the floor, helping him navigate backwards to the ropes where he manages to get a rope break called. Troy glares at Chrenshaw, who smirks back at him. AJ climbs back to his feet and hits an elbow strike, Troy responds with a rolling savate kick to the bread basket that doubles AJ over. Troy grabs AJ's arm, puts his foot in the champion's face and falls back with an inverted stomp facebreaker!

BRIAN SHELZI

How's that for some sole food?!

Troy gets up and goes for the lateral press!

Seeming frustrated, Troy grabs AJ by the ears and hauls him up to a vertical base. He does a go behind and wraps his arms around the champion's waist in search of a German suplex but AJ blocks it and executes a standing switch. He too tries for a German, but Troy blocks and spins around...

ENZUIGIRI!

The champion falls to his knees as Troy gets up and takes a walk around AJ, contemplating his next move. He steps up as AJ gets to his knees and clamps on the headscissors, then grabs at AJ's right arm to lock in the standing Octopus hold. AJ looks ahead, then slowly makes his way over the corner where instead of grabbing the ropes, he lifts his leg to try and push off the bottom turnbuckle. Troy senses what he's doing and releases the hold, bringing him down to the mat with a side Russian leg sweep! Troy kips up, AJ sits up...

ROUNDHOUSE KICK!

AJ falls backwards, the fans go quiet. Troy falls against the ropes, then hears the dead crowd - he turns and leaps on top!

FOOT ON THE ROPE!

Troy falls back in disbelief.

SAM HEWITT

A vicious roundhouse kick that nearly removed AJ's head from his neck and shoulders only good for a two!

BRIAN SHELZI

Troy used a lot of energy on the octopus hold, so when he delivered the kick - he fell against the ropes and tried to catch his breath. A credit to his in-ring experience, he noticed the crowd's reaction had died down a bit and leapt on top for the pin but too little, too late as AJ had some time to recover from that shot.

Troy rolls back up to his feet and hoofs AJ in the face a couple of times as he's on all fours. He rushes behind the champion, grabbing him around the waist and hauls him up... and back down! A vicious deep bridge German suplex!

NO! ONLY TWO!

Troy doesn't have the energy to disbelieve this time, he simply crawls toward the nearest corner and starts bringing himself to his feet. AJ is recovering on the opposite side, Dynamite smiles as he sees the situation developing and charges in...

CORNER BIG BOOT!

NO ONE HOME!

AJ drills Troy with a forearm, then bashes him a few more times. Troy doubles over, AJ pulls him in for the Knightfall DDT but Troy counters out of it and drives a knee into AJ's head! The champion sputters on his feet, Troy tries for the Flash Bang spinning back kick but AJ ducks it, spins around...

ROLLING ELBOW!

Troy hits the mat and rolls out of the ring, Garner goes out to check on him and deems him OK before heading back inside to begin the ten count. AJ is on his hands and knees, trying to recover and doesn't even seem aware that Troy is on the verge of being counted out. The man known as Dynamite slowly recovers at six and tries to steady himself on his feet at seven, he grabs the middle rope at eight, takes a deep breath and throws himself inside at nine. The crowd applauds his fighting spirit to get back in, AJ immediately goes to work by grabbing him in an inverted chancery... and planting him with a DDT!

SAM HEWITT

An inverted DDT! A move we've seldom seen AJ use, but when he does - it packs a punch. Such a punch that it may have taken a lot out of him just to execute it.

Indeed, AJ lays next to Troy - face down. All he needs to do is reach over and drape an arm across, but the champion is spent. Chrenshaw slams his hands against the apron, rallying the fans in support of his protege. AJ gets to his knees, wipes the sweat away and crawls to Troy. He grabs him, yanking him up while using him as a base to help himself back to his feet. Knight goes for a forearm...

TROY DUCKS!

FLASH BACKSLIDE!

The crowd nearly faints from the nearfall, AJ kicks out and looks at Garner - asking him twice if it was three.

SAM HEWITT

What a trick to pull out of your sleeve! That's the very same move that Julian Cutlass used to end AJ Knight's challenge for his World's title back in September and David Troy nearly brought an end to the Crusader's reign as champion with it, too.

BRIAN SHELZI

Did you see AJ!? He asked Garner TWICE if it was a three, that's how paranoid he was about the backslide. That's a hell of a way to get inside someone's head.

Troy smiles as he gets up, AJ is fuming - the nearfall bringing back memories of September. Fury fills the champion's eyes as he swings, Troy ducks... DROPKICK! The champion sails backwards, Troy hits the mat with a thud and tries to quickly follow up but his body won't allow him to. AJ darts back to his feet and then falls into a three point stance, he watches out of the corner of his eye as Troy fights to hi--

SUPERK-NO!

Troy ducks, AJ stops himself in time to see Troy's leg coming at him! AJ puts up his arms, blocks the kick! The champion knees Troy in the stomach, clasps around his neck...

KNIGHTF-NO!

Troy drives him into the corner turnbuckles! AJ stiffens up, Troy takes a step back and turns AJ around. He hooks AJ's arms, then backslides him! Garner counts!

TROY PUTS HIS FEET ON THE ROPES

2...

CHRENSHAW SWATS THEM AWAY JUST AS GARNER NOTICES! Garner ejects Chrenshaw, but Troy is livid - he gets up and yells at the Crippler, asking if he wants to lose to him again. Garner issues a yellow card to Troy, who shoves past and grabs AJ...

SMALL PACKAGE!

TROY KICKS OUT!

"SON OF A BITCH!"

Troy mutters as he gets up, AJ stays on his knees as Dynamite comes to get him...

LEAPING ENZUIGIRI!

Troy staggers, AJ gets to his feet... pulls Troy in!

The Buffalo crowd erupts! AJ falls to the mat, Ben Chrenshaw comes running back down the aisle and slides in. His signature smirk is on his face as he gets to his feet, he extends his hand to AJ and pulls him up and hugs him! They release and Chrenshaw raises the World's Champion's arm. Mandeville Nelson comes in and hands the belt to AJ, then reaches over the ropes to retrieve the trophy from a stage hand. Chrenshaw takes the belt from AJ and looks at it... a little too long, AJ notices and there's a moment the two lock eyes. Chrenshaw smiles... not the usual smirk, though. He wraps the title around AJ's waist and crouches down as the champion poses for pictures.

SAM HEWITT

A bit of tension there for a moment, but nonetheless - AJ Knight secures the V1 defense of the King of Lions World's Championship and wins the 2018 Laurentide Cup! David Troy to his credit exceeded the expectations of everyone in this tournament. I don't think anyone could've predicted he'd be challenging for the World's Championship when he joined us in late 2017 and he nearly stepped away from here with the belt around his waist.

BRIAN SHELZI

The jealous Ben Chrenshaw had to put his pesky hands in the pie. David Troy had the backslide, he was on his way to the 1-2-3 but Chrenshaw is the biggest sore loser in Lion's Road! Oh, great, look at this...

AJ grabs a microphone.

AJ KNIGHT

David, there was a lot of talk about your reputation before this tournament, whether or not you were at this level. Well if the last five weeks and tonight proved anything, it's that you belong here! David, you've earned my respect and I am damn proud to have you on my resume as my first defense.

AJ extends the hand to David Troy but the media circus scatters as Zenki, GRIM, GRIMMY Winner and Jin Hirai jump the rails and slide into the ring! Zenki and Hirai attack Chrenshaw while GRIM and Winner gang up on AJ. The Brigade notices Troy, but he shrugs.

"They're all yours!"

Troy dips out and the Brigade continues their assault. GRIM takes the Laurentide Cup and tells Winner and Hirai to hold AJ up. They each grab an arm and hold AJ in place as GRIM walks behind them, wielding the trophy like a baseball bat... then drives it across AJ's back! Zenki delivers the Zenki Bomb to Chrenshaw. Matt Pulver charges out from the back and grabs a steel chair from ringside and slides inside, he whacks Winner and Hirai and nearly gets Zenki. GRIM has left the ring and pulls Zenki before the chair shot can get him. Pulver stands guard to chants of his name! He checks on Chrenshaw, then looks as AJ gets to his knees. AJ extends his hand, hoping Pulver will help him up.

AND HE DOES!

Pulver pulls AJ in close and the two trade some heated words. Chrenshaw gets up and gets between them, Pulver and AJ are still arguing when...

"If you two pussies would quiet down for a minute..."

All eyes on the aisle where Alexander Irvine stands, flanked by the WALL - Hammerstein, Carl Whitaker and Justin Seville.

"I have a rematch clause, AJ. Don't worry about Pulver, don't worry about Chrenshaw... you worry about me. I'll see you in Chicago."

AJ pulls himself away from Chrenshaw and raises the title above his head, Irvine motions around his waist as Pulver glares at both men.
