FIGHTER INFORMATION
REAL NAME -
Daniel James Munoz
STAGE NAME -
Mascara De Muerte IV
NICKNAME(S) -
MDM4, DJ, The Lucha Revolutionary
HEIGHT & WEIGHT -
5’10” 201 lbs. (built a lot like Ricochet, for an IRL comparison)
DATE OF BIRTH -
8/4/1993
PLACE OF BIRTH -
Mexico City, Mexico
FIGHTS OUT OF -
San Antonio, Texas
YEAR OF DEBUT -
Fuzzy start date, literally grew up in the business. (early teens)
ALIGNMENT -
8, exciting high flyer but not beyond the typical cockiness youth tends to bring.
PERSONALITY -
DJ Munoz wanted to wrestle since the day he could crawl. Growing up around his fathers business it was inevitable. But the Jose would have none of it, livid about his sons decision to peruse the life of a "goddamn wrestler." Daniel trained in secret with a host of his fathers friends and associates. Only further infuriating the elder Munoz. Daniel was a natural. Small but with the kind of coordination and speed you'd look for in a potential Olympic gymnast. Beyond his high flying ability though Daniel took to the more technical side of wrestling like a fish to water. Having grown up a huge fan of mixed martial arts and Brazilian jujitsu, DJ had been haunting dojos, training camps and fight gyms most of his life. He'd start his career wrestling under a near countless list of half baked masks and gimmicks. Cats, wolves, a few farm animals, like ten different birds, even a ninja turtle once. It wasn't long before, begrudgingly mind you, Jose presented his son with a slick modern day reproduction of the original Mascara De Muerte's boots, tights and mask. With a note attached... "don't fuck it up, boy."
(Fun Fact: ... the ninja turtle? Raphael, in case you were wondering.)
As Mascara De Muerte IV's career blossomed and his fame spread across all of Mexico the masked archangel of lucha wanted more, he wanted to break free of the insular world of Mexico's lucha libre scene and spread his and the legend of the Mascara De Muerte to all corners of the globe.
EQUIPMENT -
Physical Description: Very well built young man of a Hispanic background, his entire face is completely hidden by his mask. But from past matches where his cowl is ripped and torn it was seen that he has jet black hair and keeps it shaved very short.
Ring Attire: Full face style lucha mask with a classic skull and crossbones style design. Black full tights with skull and crossbones on each thigh. Classic black boots with white trim and laces. Black and white athletic gloves. Black elbow and knee pads and a light, flexible knee brace on his right knee.
CASUAL ATTIRE -
When out of the ring backstage or out on the town he always wears his mask, but dresses very modern. He's usually a very sharply dressed young man.
WALKOUT ATTIRE -
During his entrance he's been known to sport a ratty black leather jacket with a huge Mexican flag on the back and simply covered in patches and scribbles from his travels. If you look closely you can pick out a few references to his former masked gimmicks hidden among the complete doodah of skull pins, spikes and chains.
WALKOUT THEME -
Killswitch Engage cover of "Holy Diver" by Ronnie James Dio
(Fun Fact: The Dio version of the song was originally used by Mascara De Muerte III)
ALLIES/RIVALS -
None so far. A bit of a loner.
PREVIOUS INJURIES -
Had a (right) knee injury during a match in Mexico many years ago.
STRENGTHS/WEAKNESSES -
Strengths:
1. Experience - Around the business since he was a child, started training at a very young age.
2. Insane Conditioning - Can wrestle for an hour or more and still have gas left in the tank.
3. Deceivingly Strong - A gym rat by nature, DJ is a smaller grappler but maintains incredible physical strength for his size.
Weaknesses:
1. Right Knee - Wears a knee brace on his right knee. Easy target for any opponent with an ax to grind.
2. Cocky - Youth breeds its own distractions. MDM4 has been known (see: quite often) to get distracted playing to the fans or needlessly flying off the top rope when it’s not utterly necessary simply to pop the fans.
3. Size - In a promotion that doesn't focus on juniors competition MDM4 is inevitably one of the smallest dog in the fight.
SPORTSMANSHIP -
He might be a cocky young lad but he’s no villain. Next to no underhandedness, he wants to win fair and square.
FIGHTING STYLE -
Classic show stealing modern luchador with a strong background in submission wrestling. Lots of high flying maneuvers coupled with a host of dangerous submission maneuvers he can lock on in an instant. A deceptively strong young man with a lot of lean muscle mass, making his submissions that much more effective when applied.
