STAGE NAME – Go Gensai
REAL NAME – Go Gensai
NICKNAME(s) – The Ghost, The Pale General, The Last Free Man, The Brutalizer
DATE OF BIRTH – November 17, 1977
PLACE OF BIRTH – Kuwana, Japan
HEIGHT and WEIGHT – 6’1 235 lbs.
DEBUT YEAR – 1997
BIOGRAPHY – Grinding out his first handful of years in the business in smaller pseudo-shoot style promotions in the late 90’s Go Gensai would often end his matches covered in his own blood. He wore those beatings with such pride it was then he developed his trademark “pale” look with his stark white trunks, white grappling shoes and shocking bleached platinum blond hair so as to almost show off all the inevitable blood after his matches. A journeyman through and through Gensai has been looked at as one of the true kings of the independents, having never been tied down to any of the bigger promotions for long. One of the last true shooters, a hard headed, vicious technician with an almost sadistic love of twisting and contorting his opponents.
Having had a pretty rough go of it breaking into the business as a young man Gensai now has a REAL problem with anyone he perceives as having had anything "handed" to them, on a deep personal level. He also loathes the idea of foreign talent coming into Japan and taking bookings from native talent. He doesn't care what the gaijins "alignment" is... they're ALL fair game as far as The Pale General is concerned. Now, finally debuting in the US Gensai has been quoted as saying he plans on "taking eeeeeverything from the gaijin. The Last Free Man has arrived on your shores. Noooobody is safe."
ACHIEVEMENTS - numerous titles in independent promotions all over Japan, MAX Japan World Tag Team titles (w/ FDJ)
PAST INJURIES – To many minor injuries to count. More than a few concussions. Several broken bones. One neck surgery a dozen or so years ago.
Social Info
ALIGNMENT – So Very Heel.
ALLIES – Hiro Minamoto (old friend from back in the day, MAX-J associate), Sen Oka (former student, MAX-J associate), Frank Dylan James (tag team partner, strange hostile partnership)
RIVALS – Ate a couple losses in big tourney's soon after his debut to Mike Musket and Rafa Whatley. Quick to develop a grudge... especially when it comes to gaijin.
Physical Info
EQUIPMENT/APPEARANCE – White trunks, white wrestling shoes, white wrist tape. No knee or elbow pads. Hair shaved short and dyed platinum blond, almost stark white. Eyebrows also dyed in the same pale blond color. White rubber mouth-guard usually with something written or emblazoned across the front.
WALKOUT ATTIRE – A white towel with his name stitched in gold script across one end slung behind his neck. He'll always drape the towel over a turnbuckle... often used to illegally choke his opponents at some point in the match.
CASUAL ATTIRE – All white everything. From expensive suits to casual and athletic wear, Gensai is in white head to toe.
WALKOUT THEME – Born to Be Free by X JAPAN
WALKOUT DESCRIPTION – The soft thirty or so seconds of piano lead into heavy driving guitar and pounding drums. “The Ghost” Go Gensai walks with confidence, a wild eyed unfazed sort of confidence that only comes with age and experience. He’ll generally make a beeline to the ring, stopping every so often to exchange words with a particularly mouthy fan or perhaps assault any young boy that dares get within arms reach of The Pale General.
Fighting Info
FIGHTING STYLE – (Pure Shooter / Nasty-ass Brawler) An absolute brutalizer. Gensai was brought up straddling the worlds of shoot wrestling and puro seemingly soaking up the best from both disciplines. Versed in chain wrestling, Gensai’s encyclopedic knowledge of holds and counterholds allows him to almost PLAY with his opponent. A technician at heart, sure, but as he’s gotten older and… well, colder Go has developed an almost sadistic enjoyment of pure unbridled violence. Open hand slaps to the face, blistering chops across the chest, and brain rattling forearms are Go’s favorite toys. He'll lock on one of his pet submission moves simply to see the pain spread across his opponents face. If this were another time and era some King or Emperor would have surely employed Go Gensai to stock and run their dungeon torturing hapless enemies of the court. The Pale General is a true blue sadist.
SPORTSMANSHIP – Next to none. Go believes in one kind of honor. His. Sportsmanship is a weakness in others to exploit to his own ends. There might arise situations where Go will want to finish things decisively and keep things on the straight and narrow. But ultimately his outfits may be white as snow… but his heart? His heart is black as onyx.
