*Author’s Note: In an effort to catch up due to outside events in my life, I will be doing an abbreviated version of the show.*
The February 10, 2019 episode of PWGP CHARGE went as followed:
-It was announced at the beginning of the program that The Technician was not here tonight, who suffered multiple injuries at the hands of BOB last week. He supposedly will return next week and will receive his rematch for the PWGP Global Title against the new champion, Alan Hunter.
-Hunter would come out with the Global Title to celebrate with the fans. He thanked them all and stated it has been an incredible journey to get to this point. His celebration was cut short by the arrival of the Bash Brothers (Axel Moros, Vlars and Big O). Moros reminds us he’s got five points, thanks to winning the Anniversary Cup and he’ll be coming for the Global Title very soon. The Bash Brothers try to attack Hunter, but “Too Sweet” Jimmy Jive (James Daniels) and former MLWA* roster member member, Wolf Rocher come out to offer Hunter some back up and force Moros and company to back off.
MATCH 1
“Too Sweet” Jimmy Jive and Wolf Rocher defeated two young talent from the GLWA Dojo, Theon Dubois and Bobby Stell in the opening match. Jive would win the match for his team with a flying elbow drop on Dubois to pick up the pinfall. Jive and Rocher have 1 point towards a possible shot at the PWGP International Tag Team Titles and will face off with the team of Vlars and Big O next week.
-Laura Heeley spoke with Wings of Icarus Champion Kurtis Thomchuk ahead of his first defense of nine weekly defenses of the championship. Thomchuk is livid about the situation but promises by the end of their match Land Shark will have to change his name to “Mahi Mahi”!
MATCH 2
Thomchuk would defend the WoI Title in the second match of the night against Land Shark. Try as he might Land Shark simply wasn’t on the champion’s level. Thomchuk soon had his challenger tapping out to the Crossface Chicken Wing to win the match and retain the title. Next week it’s reported he will defend against former WoI Champion, Robbie “Red” Baron.
MATCH 3
Last week we saw the Japanese duo of Hirai and Kiyonaga defeat the PWGP International Tag Team Champions, The Brute Squad to earn a title match for next week. This week though saw Aozora Kiyonaga against Son of Brute in one on one action. The contest was a hard hitting affair, with neither man giving an inch. Ultimately though Kiyonaga would pick up the pinfall victory after Hirai tripped Son of Brute during a suplex attempt and held his foot down while the referee Mark Lindsey wasn’t paying attention to allow Kiyonaga to pick up the win.
-After the match the Japanese duo would indicate they were coming for the International Tag Team Titles next week, leaving the announcers to wonder if they had the Brute Squad’s number.
MATCH 4
Moondog Buster defended the PWGP Television Title against former Wings of Icarus Champion, Zaros. During the match Land Shark and Vod would try to get involved but ended up getting into a brawl with Moondog Runt and “Moondog” Teddy Davis. Zaros would come close to defeating the champion, but ultimately Moondog Buster would counter Life Tree Down into a power slam and pin the challenger to successfully defend the Television Title and earn 10 points.
-Following the match, Teddy Davis would tell the crowd that Buster would relinquish the Television Title so he could cash in his 10 points to earn a Global Title shot, but since Buster had to wait a couple of weeks to challenge for the title he had an idea. Davis challenged the three members of Surf ‘n Turf to face him, Moondog Buster and Moondog Runt in a trios match next week and Gertrude Quest accepted on behalf of Zaros, Vod and Land Shark.
MATCH 5
The Pimp and Shrimp Connection (MANDINGO and Capt Gill Baits) fought Nicky and Dicky of Quack Attack. The two quackers actually controlled the better part of the match and appeared on the verge of winning the encounter. MANDINGO would take advantage of a distraction from his partner to hit Nicky with a his cane and Baits would put his away with a Fisherman’s Suplex to pick up the victory and earning their 1st point.
-Following the match, Pimp and Shrimp Connection would call out the MLWA* Tag Team Champions, demanding a title match. True North Ant and Philly Cheese Snake would appear and agree to face them for the titles, if they could beat them in singles matches on next week’s show. The challengers agreed and BUAC Spokesman Robert Fredrick was more than willing to sign the matches.
MATCH 6
Sweet Daddy D defended the MLWA* Title against Faititili in what was scheduled to be the main event of the evening. We were reminded that Faititli was supposed to receive this title match two weeks ago after defeating former champion, Bryant Adam Thompson, in a six man tag team match three weeks previous but Thompson would attack him before the match could begin, leading to Sweet Daddy D filling the spot. The two men would show a great deal of respect towards each other during the match. The action would go back and forth between the two men with neither man able to keep the momentum for very long. During the closing moments of the match both men would hit each other with a super kick, temporarily knocking each other out. Former MLWA* Champion, Bryant Adam Thompson, and the Agents of Pain would take advantage of this opportunity to storm the ring and attack both men leading to the match being thrown.
-Following the match Thompson would get the Agents to lay Sweet Daddy D and Faititili face up next to each other and would hit BAT Outta Hell on both men. He would then pose with the MLWA* Title while sitting of the Agents shoulders to close up the show.
-Reminder, next week both the PWGP International Tag Team Titles and the PWGP Global Title will be defended, as well as the Wings of Icarus Champion Kurt Thomchuk defending against Robbie Baron and a new Television Champion to be crowned, somehow. Until then, in the meantime, and in between time… Good night, God bless and may the Force be with you.
*MLWA here stands for “Maple Leaf Wrestling Alliance”, and not “Maple Leaf Wrestling Association” which was formerly known as Lions Road Pro-Wrestling.
