Character info:
Character name: A.J Knight
Birthdate: July 25th, 1994
Height and weight: 6' 1", 220 lbs
From: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Alignment: 7- AJ is generally well liked. His personality alienates some fans, but even they are fans of his abilities for the most part.
Debut year: 2015
Allies: None. AJ's own ego and grating personality have driven away everybody else on the roster.
Rivals:
- Ben Chrenshaw: (AJ's former friend and mentor, who blames AJ for holding back his career while the two were partners. Chrenshaw has made it his mission to make AJ pay for every moment he lost by bailing AJ out.)
- Hammerstein:( Formerly AJ's best friend turned bitter enemy and now his arch nemesis. While initially AJ was hesitant to confront Hammerstein but a sneak attack by the Horsemen on Pulver have made him reconsider that stance. The hostility turned irreconcilable after an attack by Hammerstein traumatized AJ's nephew.)
- Eli Buchanan (His former Arch enemy, the man nearly ruined his career and reputation of course the two aren't fond of each other. However more recently based on their exchanges of social media where they hold more or less friendly conversations, they are less mortal enemies and more "frenemies" than anything. AJ seems to be happy that Eli's going straight to some degree and Eli seems to be more than happy to just not be involved in the drama for once)
- Julian Cutlass (AJ's former childhood. Initially a more hostile feud turned more respectful and fully competitive)
- James Edwards (Although this one is more one sided on AJ's part as Edwards has seemed to move on AJ still wants to avenge his two losses at the end of 2016. Edwards however seems content to leave AJ in his past. Since winning the title from James Edwards, it seems the antipathy is returned by Edwards )
-Matt Pulver (AJ's former friend turned bitter rival. AJ's ego has driven a wedge between the two of them in his pursuit of the World Title.)
-The WALL (Their opposite visions for the future of Lion's Road puts them at odds in addition to the reprehensible methods they use.)
-David Troy (Troy has similar visions for Lion's Road as AJ but with himself at the helm instead of AJ. Additionally his failings in fighting the WALL have soured their relationship further.)
Biography: Keeps a lot of his personal life private and has no desire to divulge it. Very boisterous and loves to joke around, his life some how brought it to the doors of Deathmatch wrestler Ash Murdock, who taught him how to wrestle i the most brutal way possible. Ironically A.J. Knight really does not like the Hardcore stye all that much preferring to wrestle having been taught it was a gentlemen's sport by a veteran he met at another promotion he used to work for before it shut down.
After arriving to Lions Road he quickly began pursuing the Iron Title and engaged in a feud with James Edwards which quickly became personal. He was soon after fired due to allegations of attacking a referee. After being rehired via Eli Buchanan and Buck U Productions he became embroiled in the Red Army Saga which for better of worse attracted a lot of main stream attention to Lions Road. During this time he was mentored by Ben Chrenshaw, and very nearly won the King of the Lions Title from Julian Cutlass, simultaneously becoming the Runner up in the Laurentide Cup. In the end with the help of Hammerstein, and Eli's wife it was revealed that it was in fact Eli who framed him for attacking the referee in question. He won his way out of his Buck U Productions contract by defeating Eli's hired muscle Iron Mack Brody in a wild Street Fight.
Shortly after he would find himself in a personal blood feud with his former best friend Hammerstein, which traumatized his nephew Davey, which ended in a brutal Texas Deathmatch.
In 2018 AJ Knight revived his rivalry with James Edwards taking him to a draw in the Heritage Cup. Shortly after he would finally defeat his childhood idol Julian Cutlass to claim the status of Ace. After winning the World Title at the Anniversary show by at last defeating defeating his life long rival. With that he began a crusade to start a new era in Lion's Road which began with a Laurentide Cup victory.
Wrestling Info:
Weapon: None, is surprisingly hesitant to utilize weapons except in dire situations.
Fight Style: A.J is a strike influenced technician who weaponizes showmanship doing what he can to frustrate and get under an opponent's skin, doing annoying things such as making smart comments, posing for the crowd or starting disparaging chants towards his opponents, as he wears them down with holds and strikes, hoping to catch the opponent unaware with a big move.
Sportsmanship: A.J is an interesting case. If it's up to him he will extend the handshake to an opponent however he is notably very aggressive in the ring. As can be seen from his usual interactions with Becky Chande he enjoys messing with people and getting under their skin. He will trash talk them to try to trick them into making a mistake. He also rarely breaks submission holds before a 4 count reminding the official he has until 5 to break. He has verbally gotten into it before with Xavier Price over that very tendency in fact.
Strengths:
Jack of All Trades: AJ is a very versatile competitor, and rarely finds himself totally outmatched by his opponents. He uses this to keep the fight at his own pace, and out of their game.
Resiliency: Physically and mentally AJ is very tough. He doesn't give up easy and is capable of taking a considerable beating. He has been known to come from behind to win.
Intelligence: In spite of his laid back personality AJ Knight is very smart. This intelligence typically manifests itself in three ways. The first is his ability to set a pace that favors him by analyzing the way his opponent fights and acting to counteract that. The second is his general survival instincts, such as going to the floor when he needs it, and taking his time on kickouts to conserve energy. The third is that he is a master of mindgames, he can get his opponent off their game, frustrate them and get them to make a mistake. He alway seems to know just how to get under their skin. This has been best demonstrated against his long time rival: The normally stoic James Edwards who he's managed to make lose his temper n a regular basis
Weaknesses:
Master of None: While AJ is skilled at different styles, he doesn't really excel at any of them which puts him in danger if his opponent can draw him too deep into their game.
Immaturity: As smart as AJ is he's still only in his 20s. This leads him to get impulsive, and do things out of pride that endangers him.
Flash Pins: As stated above AJ tends to wait til' the last moment to kick out of pin attempts, this has made the backslide and certain other pinning combinations which take longer to escape highly effective to beat him
Rare Finisher: The Last Crusade (Top rope Tiger driver- Rarely used, never survived)
Signature Moves:
Knightfall (Devil Lock DDT- AJ's primary finisher: Usually finishes the match if it hits.)
Templar Stretch (Border City Stretch- Primary Submission finisher.)
Superkick (Can finish a match if placed, and timed well)
Swinging neckbreaker
Inverted DDT (Rarely used, but done as a momentum shift normally)
Leaping Enzuguiri
Wrinkle in Time (Single Leg Boston Crab, used as an homage to his mentor Ben Chrenshaw. Although he doesn't apply it as well as him he can finish matches with it on occasion.)
Holy Ouch! (Never finishes a match, usually sets up Knightfall)
Standard moves:
